Why do you think it's a bad thing? We didn't say it was good or bad at all. I think it's very fair for people living in countries who never hear this singing technique to, when confronted with it twice for the first time in two years to make that connection. Also, at what point did we say the songs were the same? We made that link with the singing, that was it. We talked a lot about the composition of this song without mentioning Poland 2019, it was literally just the singing technique. Chill out!

I guess, most of us (Ukrainians) really miss our national identity, especially now, in such the political situation. And this song is something between folk and modern music, and it works for me perfectly. And I’m very glad that Ukrainian language will be heard. Even if we don’t qualify, Ukrainians won’t be ashamed. Europe may not like the song, but it will learn more about us. ❤️

Maruv's performance may be much better, but please understand the Ukrainians. Most Ukrainians do not like the artists who go to concerts in Russia during the Russian aggression in the East of Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea. Maruv has a pro-Russian stance, and in Ukraine after 2013 everything is politics-related. 🇺🇦🇪🇺🏳️🌈 Personally, I liked David Axelrod. 😅

There were few slavic symbols behind the band on the screen. Toy you probably meant the symbol which looked like nazi svastika. It wasn't a nazi svastika but it was a slavic svastica. It's an ancient symbol of happines used in many European and Asian countries (not only by slavic people). The name "svastika" comes from sanskrit which is an ancient language from India. Unfortunately Hitler totally changed the meaning of this symbol and people started to afraid of it. It's a very long story about this symbol and why it became a symbol of nazi Germany.

Соловей" it's a nightingale (bird) in Ukrainian, it's one of the symbols of Ukrainian ethnic, folk music. A nightingale has a nice voice also. That song of a young girl who fell in love. She asks for nightingale to not sing early because she has heavy thoughts. She knew how to love, but she didn't know how to forget her love. Lyrics are coming partially from some Ukrainian folk songs in a modern interpretation.

Ukraine is my favourite country in ESC as they always send something different. As is often the case, I’m with Toy on this one- I enjoyed the song but I don’t like her voice... also towards the end I started hearing the rhythm of “jingle bells” which was a bit distracting!
I think this is a very brave entry and Ukraine has never sent anything ethnic and in their native language. I disagree, however, that it's similar to other traditional songs that have appeared on Eurovision every now and then, because I can imagine actually drunk dancing to this and having fun. It's very unique and could be Eurovision's all-time best ethnic song. On the other hand, this is obviously not this years winner, because because not everyone is going to enjoy its shock value, despite the high quality production. I think Lithuania is this years winner, but Solovey will definitely qualify and is going to be in the top-10 in my opinion.

Где то на подсознании каждого славянина песня должна довести до "мурашек по коже" даже без понимания смысла песни! В песне заложен славянский ГЕН, символы, целая епоха тысячилетней истории населения етого края Земли, смех и слезы матерей, кровь и пот воинов. На сцене можно поставить лучше вокал, танец о развитии событий песни для понимания иностранцев, концовку можно переделать в крутой ДабСтеп, и конечно Громче Барабаны! She is no Maruv. I have no idea what the song is about. It is not big and wild. STILL, I kind of like it. I can imagine kids in discos having a great time dancing to this song. The staging is beautiful. I loved the symbols in the background and the mix of red and darkness. The costumes are great. I found the whole thing a bit mesmerizing and I really liked the ending. Will it win? I doubt it. Will it place? I hope so. I like it.

Ukrainian language, sopilka (musical instrument that sounds like nightingale), her unique voice (here she uses special vocal technique and sounds like grandma, but she also can sing with her own voice which sounds completely different). Lots of symbols that only few people will understand, the lyrics telling the story of a forbidden love between a young Katia and Ivan,cause of the family and tradition prejudgements. Maruv's performance may be much better, but please understand the Ukrainians. Most Ukrainians do not like the artists who go to concerts in Russia during the Russian aggression in the East of Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea. Maruv has a pro-Russian stance, and in Ukraine after 2013 everything is politics-related. 🇺🇦🇪🇺🏳️🌈

There were few slavic symbols behind the band on the screen. Toy you probably meant the symbol which looked like nazi svastika. It wasn't a nazi svastika but it was a slavic svastica. It's an ancient symbol of happines used in many European and Asian countries (not only by slavic people). The name "svastika" comes from sanskrit which is an ancient language from India. Unfortunately Hitler totally changed the meaning of this symbol and people started to afraid of it. It's a very long story about this symbol and why it became a symbol of nazi Germany.

Ukraine is my favourite country in ESC as they always send something different. As is often the case, I’m with Toy on this one- I enjoyed the song but I don’t like her voice... also towards the end I started hearing the rhythm of “jingle bells” which was a bit distracting!

I think this is a very brave entry and Ukraine has never sent anything ethnic and in their native language. I disagree, however, that it's similar to other traditional songs that have appeared on Eurovision every now and then, because I can imagine actually drunk dancing to this and having fun. It's very unique and could be Eurovision's all-time best ethnic song. On the other hand, this is obviously not this years winner, because because not everyone is going to enjoy its shock value, despite the high quality production. I think Lithuania is this years winner, but Solovey will definitely qualify and is going to be in the top-10 in my opinion.
