I love hearing your stories. I also grew up in an old fashioned Pentecostal church. My mom played piano and I learned the timing and chords from her. That began way back in 1967. To this day, those types of churches still produce excellent musicians and they start as young people contributing to the church music and even with their mistakes, the congregations give them tremendous encouragement.

My 90 year old father and I look forward to every Sunday string a-long. The sessions with your family members have been very special. My dad found so much joy especially seeing your 94 year old mother on the session followed by your older brother last week. Doyle you have a very special family and my dad and I are so grateful for all of you sharing your love of music and love for our Lord with us. Such a blessing. We live in Jax on the other side of the Dames Point Bridge from your mother's home May He continue to richly bless you as you and your family are such a blessing and encouragement to so many.

What a blessing! I am certain that your mother is very proud and I have been praying for her. I go to a Methodist church near Kansas City and she pastor was baptized in the Catholic church, saved in a Pentecostal church. He attended ORU and now pastors the largest UMC church in America. My wife was also Baptist, as was my father (but he ended up Charismatic).

Gosh. Doyle sure has some really beautiful guitars. I hope to have one half as nice as some of his. At my age it might not happen but a man needs a dream. Lol. It surprises me how uplifted I feel from Sunday string-a-longs. Already feeling good from church, even though the preacher usually steps on my toes. Then right after I know I can come straight here and get another dose and feel far better than I deserve.

Man, I haven’t seen you two play together in a long time. Aubrey is such a sweet man and wonderful piano and organ player. Hopefully you can do some more with him in the future. You two should make an album together of old hymns. That would be awesome. Thanks Doyle for what you do.

Hi Doyle, I Heard you talk on another video about the talent show at school and I just wanted to share this with you. I started playing when I was very young, I played Piano, Mandolin, Guitar, Tenor Banjo and Bass before I was out of the first grade. I was playing the guitar almost every Church service by the 3rd grade. My school had a 3rd grade talent show and I practiced up like you wouldn't believe, I entered the talent show, I thought I could win hands down. No one else played any musical instruments and I was getting pretty good. The talent show was on Wednesday night, We had church and my Dad said I couldn't go. I had to play at church and that was more important than the talent show. I was playing lead guitar for the 4th grade boys choir at school and they were going to sing, when I didn't show up for the talent show, My teacher tried calling my house to find out where I was, but we had already left for church. With no answering machines or voice mail back then, I had to tell her the next day, so she called my Dad again and they changed the night and a few months later, had another talent show so I could be there and this one was for the entire school. Needless to say I lost.

Doyle, THIS IS SO COOL I know yall's mama is bustin' buttons all over the place. Your brother has definitely got the "touch". AND at 26:00 I can hear your brothers chordal influence so strong in your playing. I've said many times you were a piano player trapped in a guitarists body... ( I thought I invented it, but somebody must have stole that idea right out of my head😎😎) It's so true. You're approach isn't like a guitarist at all.

I’ve been playing guitar for 2 years Doyle and I can strum songs and rhythm but how in the world do you fingerpick like that? I mean I’ll never come close to that. Your fingers just go to the right a lot not even thinking. It’s like me throwing a baseball when I was younger I don’t know how but I just threw hard. I wish I could be that way on guitar. I’m 48 now though so I need to catch up for lost time. God bless you all!
