If they never agreed to risk their part of the profits on other failed podcasts then he is taking money from them without their permission. From them they say they never agreed to starting a podcast network. If that's something that he wanted to do then he could have either waited until they were off contract or used his portion of the money plus the other money he had coming in. Not money out of the group pot.

Joe is masterful with taking one strong point and building his whole argument on it. He mentioned Mal turning down the idea of a salary but didn’t mention the contract they were already under (according to mal) was profit partners. His example of 3 mil/yr as salary is very good. Now was profit partners let’s say 1 year you make 5, the next you make 3 and the last you make 7. Then the totals are 9 mil salary compared to 15 profit partners. For mal to already have an idea of how successful their pod already is, taking a salary could be a loss in earnings compared to profit partners.

    • @ChippyRamus

Yes but with "profit partners" comes risk also. If the pod wasn't profitable them dudes wouldn't get paid. If salaried they get paid regardless, that's the angle Joe was probably trying to get at lol

I ain't ever heard Rory and Mal mention their partnership stakes in the Joe Budden Podcast in any of their complaints about Joe. They were employees, not partners. Lets break it down from the owner perception. Let’s say they did take the percentage. If the show revenue is down you’ll feel it with a percentage. Salary is guaranteed no matter if the revenue is down. The salary may be less but it’s more likely they will get that salary amount rather having a fluctuating pay. But also no employee gets a percentage. If they signed a contract that stated they were getting a percentage off total revenue they are part owners. If this is in writing no matter what, they could sue for millions and win with no problem. Sound like they were just told this and had nothing in writing.

    • @Money6366

Joe wanted to put them in the place they made comfortable for themselves. They showed that they just wanted to come in work for an hour or 2 and dip. That sounds like someone that should be on salary. If they were bringing partnership deals to the table, or marketing plans that were viable then that would warrent a percentage based payout. If u move like an employee ima treat u like an employee. And don't get it twisted, their "salary" would have been 7 figures. Only 10% of the American population makes over 100k solo (not as a household). They felt like they provided alot by just showing up and talking. But just like an employee in any job when they left parks house, they didn't show much interest in building the show. They brought not much more then talking to the show. That deserves a check. Not a percentage.

    1. It was an incentive laden comp plan; the higher the income the more R&M get.
    2. They never had equity
    3. They never had to sit behind expenses. When joe owns it, and there is no money, he needs to pay for expenses. R&M never need to sit behind expenses
    4. SO when spotify money went dry…he was gonna pay them out of his own pocket and be responsible for that no matter how operations performed
    5. It depends now, more expenses give them less profit sharing, so the accountants need to now make sure all expenses are valid that go through THE PODCAST business
    6. All revenue legally contracted with JBP LLC, would be subject to the profit sharing plan
Did joe try to hide revenues by getting another LLC to sign sponsorship deals so R&M couldnt see it?
Did joe run expenses through so the pod had less income for R&M to participate in?

Joe Budden's problem might be because he's a great talent he thinks he's great at business. And when business is good everything is easy. But when issues arise that's when you know how good you really are.
The issue with Dame Dash belittling people for having a lack of ownership was the assumption that everyone is meant to be an owner. Some people are just talent they're not businessmen.
Joe Budden is a great talent but a bad business runner and operator. He blew up the Spotify deal without a game plan and was stuck when he couldn't pay his cohost.

I saw this coming too when the spotify deal was over and Mal was calling fans idiots for saying Joe didn't handle it right. Deep down Mal and Rory were furious because they didn't get paid and didn't own sh... They were lying to themselves and I guarantee they had an exit plan and deal on the table without Joe

It’s not just them tho look at the other podcasts that were on his network. That girl show had people leaving because of his fuck shit too

    • @whatudoin1
      @whatudoin1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@HennyAnderson I listen to that girl show from time to time . First girl left because they didn't get along. The pod itself left because they failed to attract people. They asked to be release. What's interesting is that in mal, Rory, girl pod... Joseph let them go without triggering a no compete clause. Personally I would made the boys sit down for 6 months and not allow them to hurt my business

He talks around the issue. They saw themselves as partners in creating something and he saw them as employees. He refused to show them the books so they could be paid on the points they were promised. Joe saw himself as the boss and that the show couldn’t exist without him so he was entitled to the bigger cut and complete control. Joe didn’t want to disclose the real revenue created and they got tired of being jerked and lied to!
