The fact that at some clubs the manager/coach has little to no say on player aquisition is absurd. It's like asking a plasterer to do a job and hoping his employers dont buy a hod and a saw for him to work with!

In the Netherlands you do not have a manager but a coach and a technical director and general manager and the technical director determines who goes and who comes into consultation.

There has been a transfer committee the entire time Klopp has been at Liverpool. He's always had massive input. And there are several players, Mo Salah, specifically that were not Klopp signings. Klopp had to be persuaded by the scouts that that was the right guy. And the reality is no manager is negotiating contracts in mondern times. They utterly lack the legal background.

Few know how Slot will perform but the Club has employed Edwards and further experts to make the right choice. Will it succeed who knows there is no sure thing so the best thing you can do is go with a manager who best suits the profile of how the club currently plays from youth right through the first team, the smaller the adjustment the less of a culture shock. Nobody should feel entitled, the man needs time and patience as most people in new roles deserve. I'm not worried it's football and if it was only about winning trophies 99 percent of clubs wouldn't exists. Its saturday to saturday those 90 minutes, the journey ups and downs. Love your club but entitlement just brings misery.

Now that clubs have to pay 'compensation' for mangers you can be sure that cost will be amortised over the length of their contract as under new financial rules it will be in the cost of squad calculation.
I love klopp but I'm glad we needed the change I've said this guys been burnt out even last season time for a new management, new style of play and mainly building off some of the talent we've already got.

The best teams buy and sell players with less say from the manager. They are structured to buy players that fit a system and sell players at the right time. Klopp when given more say on players had too many running out of contract.

Its not about diminishing responsibility. Hes largely unproven. If he has great success on the training pitch then he will get more influence in the boardroom.
