What a coincidence, I just bought a NOS 2015 Worn Cherry Flying V Standard just one week ago. I've been lurking for this guitar since I first saw it on the cover of a Gibson catalogue from 2004. Mine still has the stock CustomBucker PUs.

I love the look but honestly I think flying V's deserve either heavier or higher output pickups... The 57 classics didn't cut it for me Tim Shaw's sound great in V's but I like Dirty Fingers and 500T's in flying Vs
This is the most coolest looking flying v I have ever seen and I've been playing for 40 years. The white neck and the white back and the white sides has me opening my mouth in awe. I have never seen a V look like this and I've been playing a long long time. I own 31 guitars. I would sell as many as needed to buy this guitar, but this is a very old video. I'm at a loss for words at the beauty of this guitar
That BIG GIBSON logo is awesome. D'fuk you talkin' about, gaudy? That's a raised plastic emblem or badge and it's beautiful. Every one loved my Korina reissue and loved that headstock emblem in particular. And the headstock is more pointy which is even more awesome than the fatter rounder headstock.
Son has an Aria Pro II Flying V from the 70s or 80s. Blows a Gibson away. Pick ups are HOT! Got at Carter's in Nashville a few years ago... Trouble dating via serial number. Any help?
Hey Trogly, I would really like to see you get one of the new Gibson exclusive purple finished guitars. I would really like to see the LP Special. I think it looks great. The Classic looks good but I think it would look better on an LP with covered humbuckers. The 335 looks great but they're too big for me.
Trogly, It would be great if you were to check out a Strat style guitar exclusive to Andertons called the Woodford Pioneer. They are premium with very unique finishes and top quality specs. You may like them and it would be great to see you review one. Also have you heard of the Fender Starcaster? It's an old 335ish guitar from the 70's. Fender currently is producing them again in the Squire range. It would also be great to see you review a Squire Classic Vibe Starcaster. They look awesome and I want to see how you compare it to a real Gibson.
Does anyone that plays a V really use the tone knobs? And would they want a baseball neck? Given it departs from historic specs in so many ways, it’s not targeting collectors. So who was the target audience for this guitar if it was a custom run? Kind of perplexing…. So isn’t a place like Established Title that’s basically an anti-wood Green political group the enemy of guitar players, unless you like playing composite guitars. Gibson ditched Richlite the second they could, but that’s the future Established Title would imagine for us guitar players.
Obviously an untouched guitar has a certain amount of value. It seems that the additions done to this guitar were to preserve its appearance and gain some usefulness without ruining the provenance. Shielding the caveties and what...upgrading the electrics without leaving the brand? Sure that isnt factory? Its like buyting a Ford Taurus and having a mechanic install the Taurus SHO performance parts (a Ford brand performance division) so that it maintans branding but becomes better. I mean Gibson "could" do all of these modifications......
Trogly, if you think the guitar is now devalued by $3K on the basis of extra grounding tabs that can't be seen unless you look in the pickup cavities, and because it was gigged minimally, you're out of your mind.
Looks like whoever painted the shielding paint was in a hurry. Them cracks don't show up unless something is caked on instead of a thin coat at a intervals till it's well covered. Today I picked up my traditional pro for the first time since I received the greenburst studio. I'm not sure of the weight of the traditional pro but it feels as light as one of my stratocasters. I know it isn't but there's a definite weight difference compared to the 10.47 pounds the greenburst is.
Ive got pretty big dings in the same in the same weird spot under the strings on my Les Paul! But I beat the shit outta my guitars so I can't say i'm surprised... Edit: I dont think this guitar would work without that "Additional hole" at 11:52.
Put the output jack in a better place for God sake. If you are going to do this to a V please please please put th damn jack in a better place than the top of the guitar. That one terrible feature is an instant turn off. Same thing with sg. Just a dumb place for an output.
Do yourself a favor and download UFO's "Strangers in the Night." That's a Michael Schenker Tour de Force. Or check out MSG at the Dortmund '83 Festival. No one looked cooler than Schenker at that time with his long blond hair, black leather coat and his V, IMO. V's demand you play UFO, Scorps, Randy Rhoads, or Priest on them
This has nothing to do with this episode but could you please do an episode on what I call Stolen Valor guitars. Some people call them distressed guitars but personally I find it disturbing. Dings and wear marks should be earned by being played not falsified by steel wool and sandpaper. I think myself and others would find it very interesting. Not sure how Gibson, Fender and other companies would feel about it when they're making thousands of dollars stealing valor and selling it off to their customers as cool. I feel like you would be the perfect one to do an episode on this subject. Stolen Valor guitars.

Not a V fan either, but a friend had one and said it was very comfortable to play. As for this one, Trogly only flies first class.

I always loved those standard V's, but I'd want one in a different colour, I don't like blue guitars, but that's just me.

Fun thing about shielding in pickup cavities - it is actually pointless. Humbuckers are perfectly shielded by baseplates and covers.
