I found Robert Johnson about 50 year ago. I bought the CD guitar tutorial by Scott Aynsley, But only managed a few of the licks. It's great that you are continuing the tradition which never grows old.
I watch you now for about one year, i'll tell you what you are fine picking player! I don't even play a quick talk but I sure like to watch it. You are a talented musician my friend right on right on! 🕶🤙
What luck, I love this song AND sitting on top of the world. Had this parlor guitar pulled up on Reverb for a steal and wanted to listen to your videos to see if I should buy, and you just posted!
You shred the ax and the vocals! Love to filming location. Seriously the background allows the listener to truly drift to the south momentarily. Awesomeness my man🤙🔥
I'm SOOO happy to see you back man! what other finger picking blues styles do you play? your delta stuff is just awesome, in the real meaning of the word.
YES! I can hear the wind howling! What century is this? Goodness gracious, that was amazing. What tuning is this? I have tried this one in open G but I kinda make up stuff for the riff right before the next verses. 🙄
I have a Dobro Hound Dog slide guitar but the neck joins around the 12th fret so not sure I could get the slide up the neck enough for this tune. Would RJ have played it with the capo where you had it?
Mr Phillips is the best retro blues musician out there today
Listening to R Johnson songs with a modern sound and a good interpretation is truly a pleasure. Many thanks!
Lord Have Mercy
And I don't mean Percy
Once again ....Love your kitchen
It's Been My Pleasure

It's so f'ing amazing how many different sounds and emotions 6 strings can generate. Blues, rock, jazz, metal, whatever. This was beautiful.
Probably my favorite song
Me too
We need more Robert Johnson covers
That's right, ALL Robert Johnson should be covered, the sound of the originals aren't allowing proper quality listening.
Good timing. Was listening to Robert Johnson while I was cutting grass this afternoon. Great version Edward.
u mean smoking grass
@@freshlumpia8202 before smoking you have to cut the grass. 😁
@@freshlumpia8202 sometimes grass is just lawn grass if you aren’t obsessed with weed lol
@@andrewp8284take a joke my friend, make have a toke as well so you relax lmao
Zero downvotes - faith in humanity restored
There you go channeling RJ again. You rock, Ed!
Hey! My name is Gabriel and I'm brazilian. I love your song and yours interpretations of the classic blues songs. Bye!
Now that's how to play an old time Blues Classic! Well done Edward.... 👏👏🎸🎸👍👍
I wish that you did a radio show... that would be an absolute dream.
Aaaaah some good slide'n and a good buzz..L.I.V.I.N.
Robert Johnson sure could paint a picture with words. Sounding great Edward, love the into. One of my favorite Johnson songs.
ThanX again Edward! Next time in MY kitchen...🎶
Once again: unspectacular and authentic performance that leaves space for the incredible song....
Perfect example of when less is more.
Nice to see posting

Outstanding! The resophonic guitar ads a nice touch to the tonal flavor of the song. Blues at its best Edward!
Wow!
I shake my head in disbelief. Outside of Johnson's version this is the best I have heard yet
Great cover as usual. I listen to a lot of different music genres but these old blues classics have a special place in my heart and always will.
"You've Got to Move" ("You Gotta Move") also based on Sitting on Top of the World.

Love your covers man.
You listen to Charlie Parr at all? I’d love to hear you try to cover some of his stuff.
YES! I can hear the wind howling!
What century is this? Goodness gracious, that was amazing.
What tuning is this? I have tried this one in open G but I kinda make up stuff for the riff right before the next verses. 🙄
I love the real stuff, thanks....what tuning do you use on this song?
So can I ask where those crossroads are, because I think you know where they are.
I have a Dobro Hound Dog slide guitar but the neck joins around the 12th fret so not sure I could get the slide up the neck enough for this tune. Would RJ have played it with the capo where you had it?
Excellent cover. What model guitar is that?
What happened to Edward Phillips ?
Hey brah you in Dobro running or what you tuned in my friend, any help appreciated
Hey i have question , i just start playing guitar and i want to learn slide, what is the best song to learn first ?
amazing! what string gauges do you use?
You should play on twitch.would been awesome
What tuning are you using here ? Open g? Open e?
May I ask if those are resophonic strings?
Are you tuned to open D?
And Sittin on top of the World was based off a gospel song. At least that tune was its bases.
Better than Clapton's tribute.
Clapton’s not that great compared to this guy and the likes of Peter Green, Mick Taylor and Jeff Beck.
