It would appear that Sextus V was quite the visionary in placing these obelisks in geometric lines across the Papal city, Irena; a smart manouevre. One wonders the (relatively) well known edict: "To the victor belong the spoils of the enemy" ~ William Marcy, an American Eighteenth Century politician (as memory serves). Did Augustus retrieve these monumental structures egregiously, or was a pact made between conqueror & the defeated, or, a reciprocal arrangement of respect created, that satisfied both parties ?
In regard to the 'copied' Egypto-Roman obelisks, one of my country's most famous sons, Oscar Wilde observed, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.." Would you concur ? I have visited Rome only twice, & there appear to be a number of multicultural artefacts (I suppose, as with many conquering nations); I can only reach the conclusion that they have the lion's share of the goodies.....Wonderful presentation, as ever - Thank you !!

Rome would not be the same without the ancient obelisks they stole from Egypt. Not only them, but the amount of treasures that this city has from the extense cultures that they manage during the long era of the emperors. Thank you Irena for the great showing of the Roman city, your friend in Key West Ingrid Holm.

Indeed, the Romans, unlike the Egyptians, were delighted with everything foreign. I see humility in this, perhaps it helped them build their empire.

3 quick comments. 1, it's too bad those sculptures are on the roof tops, it would be wonderful to get a 360' view. 2nd, it hilarious that some of the Roman made Obelisks inscriptions were upside down 🤣🤣, 3rd, I think some of the base Sculptures are more impressive than the Obelisk itself. Great episode 🤘😁🖖🇨🇦

Great video. Ramses is AbRAham who is Constantine and King James, Seti I is the most high, Thutmose III is the real King David. I was Hatshepsut. All of them are alive. The twins were mine and also the Vatican Obelisk, the piazza de popolo too. I was Mary, twice and Bathsheba, many characters in the Bible like them. Ramses ii is the historical Jesus. Explains all the obelisks in Rome 😊We’ve all been battling for humanity for 1000s of years.

What was the significance of obelisks? Why did they spend so much effort to move them from Egypt to Rome? Also in the last 2 centuries Egyptian obelisks were moved to Paris, London and New York. Doesn't seem like a coincidence.

The Etruscans were the natives of Italy which held onto Greek tradition and pantheon. I feel like roman adaption and use of things like this is kind of like an homage to their heritage. If anything its a engineering feat, like the arch... a way of portraying a cultures capability and success, more so than any in depth religious meaning...However, refer to spirit science and other channels for information as to the possible metaphysical value of structures like an obelisk and how they affect energy flow. If a society knew and implemented these things, the obelisk would be there way of attempting to use sacred geometry, crystal, and stone, to harmonize the energy of the local area,, ie harmonize the populace.

OMG! How did they transport these things and stand them up on the pedestal's, also considering they are made of really hard stone and weigh tons? How are they still standing now? You would think they would just fall down in winds because they're so tall, I'm so amazed by this. The hieroglyphs are carved so deep, that must have needed really hard tools to do this. The Roman's did very well to copy them, you sounded so funny and sweet when you said woopsi to there upside down accidents, made me chuckle. These projects must have been so hard to do, I cant even imagine what they would have had to do to achieve this.
As always I loved your video, BIG👍's up from me. You're 🥇😉

It seems that nothing was impossible for the Romans! I bet they used Egyptian engineering. Most obelisks in Rome were re-raised and relocated by the popes of the 17th century (earthquakes are quite common in Rome). no column in Rome or Baalbek can compare to the Lateran obelisk of Tuthmosis III!
