Crazy how Pharell is calm and collected while the entire song is playing and then goes absolutely crazy when it ends
True showman
Thats mah boi
He was showing respect by not interrupting and giving ye his full attention
...then again it was how Ye dropped those 'left eye, Aaliyah, Romeo' bars at the end of that verse
Can't mess with it, he knows only too well.. you gotta let it ride. Even a smile can disrupt someone's flow
The determination in his voice. No one was going to stop this man.
Yup not even jay z hating ass could stop kayne from being bigger then him.
ong and yea all them boys was hating and was tryna play ye, scarface got exposed😭😭

I did just from watching Pharell listening to it and knowing how good the verse was!
Edrice91 Yooo big time chills
When Kanye recked on it
The fact that he just thought of all that just by listening for 2 minutes
THANK YOU COODIE

Bro. You can still hear the affects of Ye's accident in this one. Nothing more pure then a young hungry Yeezy. Take away the way media portays him hes a genius.
Exactly. It was probably right after he got the wires removed from keeping his jaw shut. You can even see from how he raps with his jaw tight.
And I still hold that opinion 🤷🏻♂️

This is when Kanye proved everyone wrong. He wasn't just a producer. He was now a producer-RAPPER. Just look at the faces on Pharrell and that other dude. They're both in shock and in awe. Shows you that if you truly never give up on your dreams, they will eventually come true.
K Rhee hes about to do it again in clothing. rn were living in the the next last call story. and holy shit I just realized how old this is, still applies though

jmaal2345 amazing, especially since he was so silent the rest of the video haha made it even better haha
Pharrell will never be old
U kno, his reaction sound like that thing pharrell does on his songs...
Josh'n You i agreee. Being in studios for 10 years straight, I guarantee Pharrell was sitting there saying to himself “16 bars are almost done, make sure to give a big reaction”
He’s a professional producer. He knows the drill :)

Yo, the Pharrel reaction after he made no movement during Kanye spitting was amazing
love how he let him do his thing while he was jsut absorbing the moment. I think he just realised theres a lot more to Kanye West than everyone thought. I also think the exaggerated gesture on camera was to help bolster Kanyes confidence and help reassure him he is as good as he thinks and let him know other people he respects are starting to see it
@@flyingfrogofdeath9616 gotta love P for that man 💜💜
I think that's a signature Pharell thing because I've noticed him doing that before where his facial expressions don't show if he's enjoying your music or not, he just lets you do your thing and the comment or react like this about it.
he was humbled into stillness in the moment,, but snapped out of it and remembered to give support at the end
Pharrell never frontin he is all about the art man and he understood he was witnessing true greatness and being the genius and wise man he also is he recognised that and absorbed the moment! Right after this in the doc he's says Kanye is already his favourite artist and this was the first time he heard him I loved this scene so much man
I've seen this clip easily 40 times. I listened to that song when the album dropped. I still get goose bumps about 8 seconds into Kanye's verse every time.

Ye's strongest verse lyrically imo
I got chills right now. Ye's verse and Jay's last verse are beyond incredible. Man smh

Ill be 40 this year, and this is quote possibly one of the best songs I've heard in my life.
Same on everything bro. 40 this and still get chills to this day from this song. Very spiritual
Which quote?
I meant "quite" possibly. But since we're talking quotes, fav from this song is "I can't complain what the accident did to my left eye, cause look what a accident did to Left Eye (TLC singer). First Aaliyah now Romeo Must Die (Aaliyah in movie Romeo Must Die and guy from Steve Harvey show, Romeo, died"
Oh and "Hovs a living legend and I'll tell you why. Everybody wanna be Hov and Hov still alive.

I think most of us went through this, and I'm so happy that I did.
The "Jeen-Yuhs" docu gave me MAD respect for Ye.
Especially being 20 years worth of footage filmed by his friend.
It's funny cause 4 years later and Ye still in the news getting heat over comments this time though they really be trying hard to cancel him
This as fucking inspiring as it gets.
Brings tears to my eyes.
Sameee
Ari Lee I tear up every single time i hear this.
This was the first person to show Kanye genuine love on the documentary outside of mos def. everybody else was playing my guy out hea.
Honestly man, Kanye been the one of the most relevant man in the industry for more almost 20years now..and people still be starving for his new album I can't really think of any other artists who'a been doing it like this
my favorite kanye song. only problem with it is jay's verse is just a generic feature where he's just rapping about how great he is and came up or whatever, and kanye's is really deep and heartfelt and goes better with the beat
Funny I felt the same way it came out like for once Hov wasn't even really needed on this track. Kanye was the one that really shined here.
It's not that Jay's verses were wack, they could've worked on another song. They just sounded so phoned in and out of place, you could tell they weren't in the same studio when it was recorded.
mistahmst Jay's first verse was off the Hovi Baby Remix, so it literally did work on another song.
Joe Coleman Yeah, but it didn't work on this song.
i feel jayz's verse was sayin that he'll never let the people down with his music bein as good as he is, everything you hear from em will be hot if this makes sense...and kanyes was more deep its just two vibes combined
I hate that we will never see Kanye in an OG Flash Gordon shirt ever again.
I know right
So true !
You wrong tho. The Flash is not Flash Gordon
That's The Falsh, the DC character. Not the same thing as Flash Gordon. But yea.
Its Barry allen flash
Its sad this album came out almost 15 years ago and how he talks about racism and how its still a problem now shows nothing has changed
it came out 12 years ago not 15
thats why i said almost lmao was too lazy to do the math
And now he just said to accept it basically
@@ianperry4587 Damn nigga you want a scholarship with those math skills?

It’s weird. I JUST discovered this song today because Spotify randomly shuffled it into my playlist. I saw the documentary too but I guess I missed it. Song is perfect. The beat, flow, girl singing, Ye and Jay’s style. The poet at the end. Powerful song

Jay's verse was tight I guess. But Kanye and J. Ivy's parts give me chills damn near every time I hear this record. I still got love Kanye and always will, but he was on another level durin' this time period. Every song of his he was teachin' you something. Every song of his had meanin'. Every song of his was full of quotables. Even if you don't like dude anymore, or shit, even if you never liked him, ion see how you couldn't appreciate the run he went on...
bruh I agree. ye and ivy went to the soul
True. You have more to say and more hunger when you haven't made it famous yet. Not to say he's got worse just less people can connect to his music as before once he's switched up his style and become more famous
Jay Z wasn't even rapping in the proper context of the subject matter
Kanye verse was kinda wack. He wasn’t really refine yet..jay was a pro outclassed ye’.
Yo bruh.. I totally agree

This is my fav Kanye song of all time. I'm not a religious or spiritual person but when this song comes on it's hard NOT to feel something. There's that saying "jack of all trades or a master at one", Kanye is truly a master of all trades regarding music. Mix that with confidence, a good education, political interest, and a chip on your shoulder and you have greatness. Once in a century artist.

This verse man I learned this verse without ever looking at a lyric of .. I just played this song like 1000 times
i love the line at 2:03 "been baptized bout 3 or 4 times" followed by the dope flow for the first half of the next line, the switchup in the rhyme scheme to '-tized' and 'times' rather than a rhyme for 'scrub' heightens your attention then he hits you with the best display of technical (if you want to call flow that) ability in the whole verse, I wonder if he did that intentionally or if it's just coincidence, same effect either way.

This shows why despite what you think of his current album, Kanye will still go down as one of the greats. He did with his first three albums what most rappers and hip hop artists will never be able to do, and that is create classic after classic.
I think his latter 3 albums can also be considered classics. 808s had some big hits and had a big influence on a lot of artists who came after it, like Drake and Frank Ocean. MBDTF was amazing and is definitely a modern classic. Yeezus is also amazing, although very different from the rest of his work.

back when Kanye changed the game , on some soulful shit ... especially after the late registration ... he was a genuis then ! we still got love for this kanye of today but how do we miss the old one ?
I can't complain about what an accident did to my left eye , coz look what an accident did to Left Eye? first Aaliyah , now Romeo must die . I know I got angels watching me from the other side !
Jay Houss I just bumped the album the other day beginning to end .... extremely classic & game changing .... besides the production, his content was so spiritual ... it's so weird he gets all the illuminati devil backlash .... because he was so full of church on that album ... the choirs .... the organs .... Jamie Foxx added some magic to it too .... fans forget so easily 😔
I was hoping this footage would have made the documentary, but man.... glad we have footage from this and Pharrell's reaction to "Through The Wire"
This is one of my favorite Kanye songs of all time. Kanye is a genius
This verse gives me chills, even on the millionth listen. People who say Kanye is a bad rapper are just plain wrong. He's a good rapper, and perhaps the best hip hop producer (contemporary; 2000s-on) on the planet.
...and pretty much everything he's talking about is still an issue today. He's been ahead of the majority of the population socially for over a decade.
He's a futurist
by far his greatest verse,
the depth of his verse is incredible. This is the personal Kanye I want, because it stays with me the longest. He talked about racism and his life experiences, you can just feel the meaning of his words here man ♥️
His hunger and how humble he is, is crazy! I don't see the same kind of hunger from him anymore. Watching this makes me smile seeing someone who can't believe they made it, someone who is just happy to be heard. Makes me feel proud of him, what happened, I dont want to judge though because i get it people change.
Kanye still wants to be heard today but it's completely different today, almost pointless at times. Man..makes me scared to see anyone go this route, if he was like this all through..man who knows. That hunger makes me think of 2pac and Nas. I dont know man. I wonder if Kanye ever looks back at these clips or listens to his old tracks and wonder himself.
no one has had the hunger of young Ye man, so so talented and raw

this is beyond epic - almost brought a tear to my eye. i know people get pissed when other people say "kanye isn't the same." and while i agree he is the same person - he ain't putting out this music, and probably never will again. that's a sad realization. this shit is classic.
as a big kanye fan, its sad...all the greats fall off at some point. he's too into the fashion thing & kim to care about putting out quality music with substance anymore. Yeezus was his worst album to date and i expect his music will worsen in the coming years
TheCudiii yeezus is a amazing album take the time listen
He still puts his heart and soul into his music. In fact, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is probably his best album. It's just different.
The thing about kanye is that you cant put him in a box. Hes always trying new things with his music.
live4days i took the time to listen trust me im a huge fan i tried to like it but aside from a few tracks, Yeezus was lyrically subpar and was kanye's worst album to date. I've been following kanye's career from the beginning and i miss the lyricism and heart he put into his music.
This should’ve been in Jeen-Yuhs too!!! Pharrell was the realest person to Kanye at this time in his life!!
This should serve as a remind that Kanye West is one of the greatest artist of our time, period!!!!!
