My father was an avid motorcyclist who often went for trips round Europe. My biggest regret was not passing my bike test and to make memories with him. He passed away after a valiant fight against bowel cancer 2 summers ago. Make as many memories as you can ❤
Wonderful that you can share these with your dad. If you were in France during July or August you had the same experience I did: no restaurants or coffee shops to be found! 😱 My guess is that tractor count will get to three digits soon enough 😂
Everytime I've been over cafés are few and far between, although I've never known it as bad as it was on this trip 🐤🤣 I'm really grateful for the fact that I've been able to do a proper road trip with my dad, hopefully it won't be the last 😊
Me too, would certainly makes things more interesting as the ride down and back up is rubbish... I've started coming back up on the M40 and M42 now, it's a few more miles I think but a lot less tedious without the 'smart motorway' malarkey 😄
I wish the ferry to Norway is reinstated, not much chance of that. I suppose for Scotland Newcastle is now the closest ferry port for the continent. Hope it’s not P&O!
Great vlog ...looking forward to the next one, very interested in dad's rear seat bag, what make is it, if you don't mind looks like it might fit my Benelli 502c which has a tiny rear perch, let alone a seat..all the best..👍👍
Thanks Kevin, really appreciate the nice comment and glad you enjoyed our vlog 😁 I asked him about the bag and he said its a JFG Racing universal bag and the first thing that came up when he typed in 'tail bag' on Amazon which is very typical of him 😆 Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Excellent, Bertie bonus time from Pooley. I felt your pain in the hunt for la coffee. I stick to pointing and grunting when trying to buy something in France, it is less embarrassing than trying my school boy French (which is long gone of course haha).
Neither of us had a chance of learning French, even though my dad had an advantage as he studied it in school in the 80s I think 😆 Bertie bonus time should be every week now too, you should be able to catch us on Wednesday evening's and the usual Saturday morning's as normal (provided I can read the calendar properly that is 🤣)
You would think it's totally legalised if you took a walk around town or the park these days 😆 Thanks for watching and glad you're enjoying the series so far 😁
He's great at sniffing out the cafés but zero sense of direction. It must be why we make a functioning combination together as I'm forever looking for places to get a coffee 🤣
It's not a Saturday thing... not seeing anybody or being able to find anywhere to eat / drink. My daughter in law used to live in France and when I told her that on my trip to / from the Somme I could not find anywhere to get any food / drink, she said that was often the case. As far as French is concerned, you should be fluent Pooley, after spending weeks riding the length and breadth of the country.
We couldn't believe how dead it was everywhere, although we just put it down to it being Easter celebrations happening... Also if you think I would be able to speak any more French than last time I was over there you will be very much dissapointed! That was the benifit of travelling in a group last time, other people are bound to be able to speak more than you 🤣
You are never far from food in France. In very rural areas you will find that food is only served at meal times but there will be fast food outlets and restaurant chains on the outside of any reasonable sized town. The fast food places serve hot food all day and chains like Buffalo Grill are open for food from 11:00 to 23:00. A really good fashion at the moment are the Boulangeries that sell hot drinks and food all day that are cropping up everywhere. The best places to eat are often small restaurants that will serve their plat du jour between midday and one o’clock. Look for one with lots of work vans parked outside, the food will be excellent and great value.
It hasn't been a problem on previous visits to be fair, but this trip was an absolute nightmare to find anywhere open! Although like I say I think the Easter holiday was the reason...
French show inwards unlike Brits that show out, that's why France villages seem so quiet, they eat cheese and drink wine, very cultural thing to do I'd say.

Thanks for such a powerful comment, so sorry about your dad ❤️

Most amusing. Thanks
Thanks, glad you enjoyed ☺️
great stuff, wish they would put the ferry back on at Rosyth so i could have a go at that , couldn't face the ride down south

Cannabis is legal in the UK for medical use but is only available via private prescription. Nice vid and series

Haha....brilliant
I think your Dad should be lead rider, he's better at spotting coffee shops, it's an age thing, thank me later

Our interpretation of these places must be based on the movies where the cheese and wine consumption is a lot more public 🤣
Thanks for watching! 😁
