Picked up a bottle of Pachuli Kozha today, it was surprisingly sweet in the opening but quickly dry's down to the earthy patchouli I craved.
It does have a sweetness but it works overall, I'm glad you liked it
Finally! Will the duck laud the laudamiel? That is the question!

Year or so later, and you’ll be glad to know they replaced the plastic caps on the sample set, with what seems like brass!

Melt My Heart reminds me of an opulent lady’s perfume from the 80s. It brought on an emotional reaction - like took me back to that time.
Gotta be that big iris bringing forth that reaction

Fall into Stars does sorta remind me of Nicolai's Incense Out, not alike but somewhat related (Eg. cousins?).
I get a tom ford type feel from these, Laudamiel did amber absolute. We'll see how they work on skin 🤔

Interesting, I wonder if MeltMyHeart will be different (more complex) on skin due to the high amount of naturals? 😀
SilenceTheSea is Brilliant to me, though many find it difficult; smells like the real ocean, ports, etc. of course, we all have our preferences! I’m mad about those florals 😂
These are merely my first impressions, I'm gonna wear em on skin and do a "review" of the set in a week or so

Nice review! I really like all the Strangelove NYC frags apart from Silence The Sea. Ended up buying full bottles of Lost in Flowers and Melt My Heart..Fall in Stars on the way!
Meltmyheart is lovely but I'm not sure I'd spend the money on a bottle

Haha worth a sample set... At their old prices
Awesome first impressions Rich. I had the chance to sample these at scent bar and got some samples. I enjoy meltmyheart, silencethesea and deadofnight. In that order. However you are dead on about silence the sea, I sprayed it on my inner arm and it filled my entire room. Performance is comparable to something like Patchouli magnetik, total monster. I have considered picking up Meltmyheart if I find one for a good price. Cheers mate🍻
I'd really like a bottle of meltmyheart but I'm not rewarding this brand for their silly prices with my money! Lol. Silencethesea is up to some kind of foolishness with it's insane performance, what on earth 🙃
One reason I think they are recently getting a lot more attention is I heard that Harrod's had a sale a few months back where they were letting bottles go for something like 180 pounds which likely increased people's exposure to the brand. They did also recently have a bit of a price hike, my sample set was $75 and a few weeks later I've noticed it's now $110.
It does say something about how crazy the market has gotten that I find the prices of these not too insane. They are about half the price of a Malle oud and I do think they are of comparable quality from what I've tried. In the U.S. The Night costs $1950 for 100ml while Dead of Night 100ml is $915. Of course this is not cheap by any means, but if you're going to go big on a refined oud that contains the real thing, you could do a lot worse than these.
They do need a new packaging designer, lol. Totally agree there is something cheap about black and gold to me and their bottles don't look very nice IMO. I also got the funny cheap looking white outer box with mine. Looking forward to hearing your impressions after wearing on skin, especially after you suffer through a day of Silence the Sea. 😂
You, as usual, make some excellent points. If Harrod's were doing 50ml for £180, I'd have _maybe_ sprung for a bottle of meltmyheart which I am enjoying. £180 is Les indemodables price range and I feel that's where these (mostly) belong.
Putting oud in them and changing 3x that is a bit outrageous really.
You're right again about the state of the market out there, it is pain and suffering for the consumer as discounters are nobbled and prices rise above already high inflation. Tom ford is raising 20% _at least_ very soon, apparently.
The packaging is an affront when you consider the price, fuming with those plastic tops for the samples. Helena Christensen has a lot to answer for! 🤣

It will be interesting to hear what these are like when you try them on skin. Due to complexity of naturals I wonder whether different facets will become more present when on the skin.
I'll be doing a "review" of the set next week and I'm gonna try these on skin between now and then
Great video mate,I LOVE how you described melt my heart,I really really like it I think it’s complex very thick and big yet very smooth,it shouldn’t be so plain when you wear it on the skin..I feel exactly the same about silence the sea I don’t like it at all,it’s very fishy and that’s not what ambergris smells like at all,even the cheapest types of ambergris don’t smell like that.enjoyed the vid a lot bro.cheers
I thought one or two of these may be up your street. You are right about meltmyheart being different on skin, I tried a bit and it's very different.
The fishy ambergris one is not my thing but it is very realistic

This brand and shalini have been alluring for years, the idea of master perfumers using suposedly "best" ingredients. But even after some less than stellar indie experiences I couldnt push myself to pay this much for samples.
The quality of the blending and technical skill of Laudamiel is certainly not in question. If you can get the samples from the perfume society in the UK, they are best priced

I agree about the shitty caps. I had problems with evaporation with these vials. I opened up Melt My Heart - like unscrewed it, and they one evaporated even more.
The caps were absolutely shocking, I was unimpressed
Excellent revue Rich. I liked the perfumes from this brand and even the name, but I did not like the prices. However, I am enjoying the samples of all of them.
The prices change everything about the brand
I've only tested Dead of Night and liked it, I'm nowhere near of buying a bottle but I'm not the target consumer. Are they overpriced? Sure, as Malle's middle eastern line and many others 'ultra luxury niche' brands (The Night and Dawn are 1950usd for 100ml!)
I understand what you mean about being the target consumer but we still have to contextualise the perfumes, I don't think malle's line is worth anything like that either. I didn't know the night and dawn were those prices! Yikes
Silence the Sea smells like the actual sea shore to me - the seashells, and salt, and ocean. It’s an experience - takes you to the beach, but I’d never wear it.
Totally agree, sometimes experience is fantastic but perfumes are meant to be worn too
Recently received samples of these (except silencethesea and deadofnight) and wasn’t really impressed as well. My girlfriend couldn’t stand them, but she doesn’t like any kind of ouds unfortunately

Just returned home from a skiing trip to Austria to find my MCG sample set waiting for me... Great selection of samples too. Be interesting to see your take on skin with these, they do change, some for the better but at that price... it's a no.
Sotd Patchouli Intense- it just keeps getting better and better on me.

I bought the sample set several weeks ago and I liked every fragrance unfortunately, but not the prices, even though all perfume prices are over the top now. Also, unfortunately, I did like some of them more than I would have liked to. Melt My Heart and Fall in to stars were both quite lovely and dreamy, but I did think that all of them were really nice but overpriced. Unfortunately, that seems to be the norm now in the perfume world.
It is the norm nowadays, unfortunately. Melt my heart is very lovely but I think that it's still massively overpriced

The little mini of Shiseido FdB came in the same bottle as the larger one. Super cute. Great first impressions. I'm surprised that they're getting hyped after so long being on the market. Bit odd.

Tried them in Harrods a few weeks ago and was disappointed with all of them. My nose is never very good on card but melt my heart was only one I liked a little but I have artisanal Oud choc type that are better at lower price. Ie Mijaz. Silence the sea was horrible as way too aquatic. All overpriced of course
