On Les Indemondables website, it says that each bottle contains %1.3 oud oil (0.65ml) as precious ingredient. For 500 bottles, you need approximately 350mls of oud oil. If you want to have this much oil, minimum 100kg of agarwood needs to be distilled. If it comes from one piece of wood, than that wood has to weigh 100kg. A person who is more or less familar with oud knows that there is no heartwood of oud. Certain parts of the tree is infected, workers meticulously carve those pieces which are usually not that big. Moreover, this is advertised as vintage wood coming from a personal stash of a collector. It is very difficult to find vintage agarwood in those quantities, let alone a single piece of wood. Nice story, but lacks some facts.
@@Granada296 thank you!
Can It be that the process of extraction they used is very effective?
So, I had a thought, I don't think the 1.3% of oud oil applies to the 50ml. I think it means that it is 1.3% of the formula before alcohol. So if the alcohol is 80%, then the formula is only 10ml, which would make 1.3% only 0.13ml per bottle and that equates to 65ml of oud oil. I _think_ that would equate to around 20kg of agarwood by your calculations (3.5ml per kg).
@@RichMitch I thought about the same thing, but in that case, it would be just a drop of oud oil in the whole bottle. More like a marketing trick to call it a “real oud” perfume with a fancy story.
On Les Indemodables website it does state specifically that the process for extracting the essential oil (Resins) Was not through distillation, but through ultrasound extraction and fractionation, this process would have provided a much higher yield(40%More) With less thermal degradation and preserving the aromatic properties,
Ok, thanks so much for the early review. I blind bought because I love the original Vanille Havane, but I never bought a full bottle, plus I love (really enjoy) ours, so, I had to.
Plus, after missing out on Rauque (and all Greccos) I wasn't passing up on this one. On my skin, the tobacco is the highlight in VH. Thanks Rich
Hope you like it!
Les indémodables is located in the beautiful town of Annecy alongside the lake Leman .
Also not far from Geneva .
I lived in Aix -les bains .I recommend anybody to visit this region.
@@jonydory622 I have heard it is very nice
@@RichMitch
It is .
The first town I arrived in the UK 20 years ago was Guilford in Surrey then Sonning on Thames in Berkshire.
Lots of vey good memories too .
Then Brexit…
@@jonydory622 yeah I voted against Brexit, absolute nightmare

The funny thing is.
I was eligible for the British citizenship and I didn’t ask for it .
Probably the stupidest mistake I’ve made in my life 😂.
The problem faced by Antoine Lie will have been to incorporate an economical amount of natural oud that has impact, with the same signature of Vanille Havane since it's like a flanker. Immediately that means whatever materials you have that give the signature to Vanille Havane usually have to be kept, and natural oud can be covered up by many things. So I imagine in terms of formulation issues, probably it was difficult to bring out a natural oud note which is why you have a more conventional oud accord supporting it, with the natural oud as a nuancer, if appreciable at all.
To be fair, this smells very natural and as if the perfumer just poured a little oud in to vanille Havane. In that way, a technical one, it's magical because we both know a lot of hard work must have gone in to making it smell that easy
@@RichMitch it's difficult to know, sometimes (though rarely), it is that easy.
if this new perfume is in the same vicinity as Oud Palao and Montri, then I will absolutely adore it when it arrives - thanks, Rich
I do think you'll love it actually, smells high end
Hard to get these in this corner, but very keen to try the range. Thanks for this.
@@flamechief you can pre order on the website, I dunno if they ship to you but they do international. Difficult to justify a blindbuy at any price but this is £420 for 50ml... And no samples from official vendors
@@RichMitch very true! I can be patient, lots of other things to get my nose on.

@@phutureprimitivedark not as glad as I am that I liked it lol
Cheers Rich ,another success story by all accounts 🤛👊💪
@@brenlynch4811 it smells really nice
Glad to hear your review Rich. I think it’s cool they’ve managed to get that rare piece of oud. I don’t think I would spend that on any fragrance though to be honest although I do like the brand ☺️ thanks for the review 🙏🦆🫂
@@scent_jeannie it's not great that you can't try it before you buy it, especially at this price. I think I've decided against getting a second bottle
@@RichMitchif I don’t have the original… is it worth getting this one? Does it remind you of something in particular? I don’t have many ouds
@@mattl7424 I have both, I'm not gonna tell you to blind buy a £420 perfume
@@RichMitch like 460$ usd?
@@mattl7424 check on website
Thanks for the first impression video! It seems they focused on the smoky aspect of oud rather than the animalic, or maybe it’s due to the high-quality oud heartwood they used. Cheers!
Yeah there's no animalic oud here, which I'm glad about. Much smokier
I don’t know how vanille havane could be improved to be honest, it’s so perfect as is!
@@muzgames I must admit, I'd have preferred a brand new fragrance based around oud but this is pretty nice. Especially after a few hours
@@RichMitchseen it 2 days ago . I don’t have the original . Worth the blind buy?
@@mattl7424 I would never advise a blind buy, try it first!
@@RichMitch yea but no one has it yet and afraid of it selling out before hand
@@mattl7424 this is a big problem imo, shouldn't be this way
Can't wait to sniff this one ❤💪🐏🦆
Fingers crossed you can get a hold of it! 🐏🦆
I blind bought it too...will see when it arrives.
I am not too eager on the Diptyque Oud Palao comparison lol! I thought that was synth oud. I do like the oud accord in Dusita's Montri though.
@@gunmetal2445 it's a Cambodian oud. It's not synthetic at all tbf, I was just trying to compare it to things I've smelled. Montri is closer
Interesting. I wore Vanille Havane yesterday as it was such a dreadful day weather wise and it hit the spot. I like Oud Palao, so curious about this.
@@jom6829 bloody expensive. I'm not sure it'll sell out quickly since people can't try it
I agree that a totally new oud fragrance would have been nice. I feel like they could of even added oud to the patchouli fragrance. I guess they wanted to highlight the patchouli and hazelnut though.
@@perrynelson777 they could have put the oud with any of their fragrances but I'd have preferred a new one
Marvelous
@@micahcshoemaker tremendous
Sounds lovely to me, id like this, i like oud frags, its expensive though at 420, how is the performance rich? Is the original vanille havane still the best in terms of performance/sillage out of these 3? Nice review rich
Performance seems good, just the same as vanille havane with an oud tbf
I like vh, and I love oud, like real oud oils and Cambodian is one of my favorites. I’m so torn because I don’t want to fall into the fomo trap giving its limited. But the price, and no sample ehh idk. I always wanted a bottle but not enough, so when I saw the extract version I was like this is it! A bit stronger and deeper should do it. Alas, I put it off. And now seemingly the perfect version for me is available but is it actually good enough and the oud is clear and stands out over the dna of vh? I hate this hobby 🤣 sorry for the yapping, glad to see your review though 🦆

Priorities! 👌
Interesting….excited for my bottle to come but not super stoked about it having “commercial” Oud like Oud Palao. Although I love that profile I was hoping for some nasty stuff.
Nah no nasty here
I’d need to sample this before I sent that many pounds Brooke’s way. Would be bang up for an extrait absolut of this though, I could see myself blind buying that..
@@chlvrs an extrait absolute oud?!
I still need to try the original but so many reviews say it smells like a banana dessert & that sounds awful
@@ryany2882 lol not for me
Cool story by the company 😂
@@ymugalul 😂
Are you the first, Duck? I think so... First reviewer of this most-awaited fragrance
I'm not sure?
Had it been a new oud fragrance I would have considered it. However I own a bottle of vanille havane and at this point I would rather find a small sample of oud oil and combine the two. Too bad they are not selling samples because the bottle is 420. No thanks I don’t want to blind buy
@@patlester1810 totally agree about the price and not being able to sample. It's a hell of a blind buy, have a feeling the middle east was in mind
It’s supposed to have CAMBODIAN oud
@@mattl7424 it does!
I just hope they don’t rerelease it later. Would be such a let down.
They can't, it's just the one piece of oud.
@@RichMitch that’s what Russian Adam and Ensar Oud say every time too
@@AmericanPieLightsOut they do. I'd be surprised if it happened and I won't be buying it again. Glad I got it but I think a lot of people are unimpressed about not being able to try it first and the price...

What Les Indem should have done is just made a 100ml for s*** sake. 🤦🏻
I once asked them on stream with Eugen if they'd do 100ml bottles and the answer was, basically, no
