Peak cold war, post Stalin relaxations in USSR replaced by new repressions. Cultural Revolution in China with millions dying. Then there was what we now know was rampant abuse of children in care. Health and safety at work still almost unknown, leaving millions with wrecked lungs and limbs. Northern Ireland troubles in UK. A few years later, George Harrison would organise Concert for Bangladesh in response to results of Pakistan split, war, and environment disasters. Good times for folk like you and me: 14 years old, wealthy by global standards, nice large garden, brothers, sisters, friends, parents together, and experience of childhood in Northern Nigeria 1955 to 1961, before Biafra War had provided global life experience and friends
This is probably my ULTIMATE favorite Beatles song. And I'm very very critical of anyone that covers this song. Not only do I LOVE listening to you sing this song, I also love watching the two of perform it. You guys do it perfectly and you do it so effortlessly.
