How easy is it to read the matte on black from a distance? I am considering doing a similar thing and yours is one of the first I have seen doing the same thing.
Gavin Gambill it’s pretty easy from the right angle. It does blend together a little bit. I really like how it came out. If you decide to do it let me know how you like it.
What type of Vinyl are you using for these decals
Purchased on Amazon. It help up very good. I don’t think they sell these decals anymore. I can check if you like and send you a link.
What are the dimensions of the logo? I am trying to make a custom sticker for my jeep which doesn't have a hood decal- I was guessing at about a 3 inch tall letter.
Do you think the dry technique is as good as the wet?. I have a decal coming and I'm concerned it won't go on correctly. Air pockets etc. Always seems there are air pockets in past applications. What is your opinion. ?
ggolds5 I think the wet might be better. Since the decal was only $13 from Amazon I figured I would just try to apply it dry. It actually came out very good without any air bubbles or specs of dirt. You just need to pre clean very good and apply very carefully. Good luck with your install and thank you for the question.
Thank you for responding. I guess I'll go wet. Do you think that spray tac stuff that's advertised is good to use, or a home soap type mixture.? I watched someone on TH-cam spray both the decal and the hood and then waited 1 hour. It still lifted letters. Would you wait in-between?. My last Jeep was almost 20 years ago. I had 4 in a row. Starting right out of college in my first horrid insurance job. I couldn't wait to get out of work at 430 to drive home initially in my friends CJ-7, then my new 90 Wrangler. 92, 95, and 97 TJ. I just put in an order on a 19, I can't wait until it comes in!!. The last vehicle I actually ordered was my 97 TJ. Many trucks since then, and always just purchased off the dealer lot.
I think it is. I’ve seen videos and it looks good. I never used it so I don’t know for sure. I wish I would have bought a Jeep a long time ago. Bought my first one in 2016 and love it. I bought my wife a 2017, the one in this video. I think the JL’s are awesome, you should be very excited!
Your black on black looks awesome. I definitely am very excited. My wife is excited for me, however, I didn't tell her I need to put down $2000 when I go to pick it up. Hmmm, she'll get over it, but not looking forward to the initial scolding because I didn't tell her right away to just get it over with. LOL. Then of course I want to get the color matched hard cover for the rear spare, that's another $379 from Boomerang. I think once I get past the $2000 the rest of a breeze. She never says no, but I know she thinks, here's another bill initially. Kind of like when I bought a $3500 massage chair at Brookstone. She uses it now so it worked out fine. OYYY. OH, another thing, this is the the first special order factory vehicle since my 97 TJ. I think Im repeating myself from above response. Usually I just get whatever is on the dealer lot when I buy something and always feel like I gave up something on it that I wanted. I'm also getting the Mojito green. Very happy.

I can make those decals and put them on in half the time without a tape measure....Clear Pre Mask is the way to go ...
