Too many kids for me, but I like the kitchen with the kitchen table more than the new kitchens (stations) and the homework spaces in the bedrooms or a nook in the hall. The kitchen table was a social space as well as for meals. Neighbors made their way to the kitchen table too. The parlor was for other people and visits. My dad grew up the youngest in a large family and he learned to become the best cook and baker from hanging out in the kitchen with his mom. Special days and Sundays, he did the cooking and baking. Absolutely the best. Every man I ever met, I kept waiting for him to bake and cook for me while the other girls baked goodies for him. Never met a man like dear old dad. He and a neighbor taught me to sew, knit and mend as well as the household chores. Mom not patient enough to do it. He learned a lot from his family and the military.
@@violette4841 My husband hung around close with his mother as well and he became an excellent cook, shares in all chores, not afraid to be domestic. He's also one of the most nurturing and highly loved parents as well as teacher/mentor to at risk kid. My children and are so blessed..

The first variable that affects mental health. No family is perfect but nothing is better than a lively loving tribe!

I live in a small town of New Zealand. Although I was not brought up on a farm, farming families put family first and waking up very early hours, 3 to 4 am to move cows to rotate their feed in other paddocks.Many things need done to run right.Now in the 21 centre farmers life is more advanced.

I thought chickens don't lay any eggs in winter 😮 the amount of eggs is amazing!
They will generally lay less due to shorter days, but not always. Mine layed the same year-round.
They likely use lights in the coop to supplement, which is sad.. Hens need to have a reset in the winter to rest.
