It should all be clean, at least in the us. The US government puts just the right dosage of chlorine in tap water, to wear it's not harmful to large multi-cellular organisms, like humans, cats, dogs, birds, etc. But still enough to kill bacteria, fungus, and maybe even destroy viruses.

That's a mosquito larva, and usually you can already see them with the naked eye. They most commonly appear in still water that's left outside for long, like rain-catching buckets.
