Professor of Geography, Dr. Jason VanHorn ( @MapYoda ) created this Minecraft world of New York City generated from high-resolution elevation LIDAR Data! The video shows New York City in Minecraft, Java edition 1.15.2.
LIDAR elevation data gives correct height and position of earth features. This map of NYC has the correct geography and a scaled elevation based on building heights to the ground. The LIDAR for this map was downloaded in OpenTopography.org.
