You saved me some money today I was considering purchasing a 12.5 reed for my 32" ashford heddle loom to make towels but the 7.5 seems to work just fine. Thank you for this video.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Payton Ernest Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I've never watched weaving on a loom from beginning to end before. Very interesting!!! Thanks so much for sharing this video, Beth! 🙂 When and from whom did you learn all your sewing and weaving?
Your towels look very nice and well and consistently done. You have learned the touch. If I may, and I am not trying to be terribly critical, I wish I could see how much the washing would tighten the weave. Also, a question. I have used this yarn for some projects that must be blocked and starched when washed, so, do you block or perhaps iron your towels after washing? Thank you so much for the video.
Thank you for your feedback and questions. Since these are just kitchen towels...I do not block or starch them. They fold very nicely after washing. The weave definitely tightens after a good washing. I LOVE using these towels.
I'm interested in making tea towels with a loom machine. Can you recommend a loom to purchase? I've seen small ones on Amazon, just not sure what to purchase for a reasonable price and good quality?
I really like how the colours work together, may I ask which brand and colours you used? I think you have a 24 inch Ashford rigid heddle loom? Would you say it’s a good size? I am thinking of getting the 32 inch as I have the 16 inch Samplit. You make warping look so easy, not my experience 😄 you have warping skills! I have a hard time with the high speed parts of videos like this but I understand why, just not easy on my eyes. Thank you so much for inspiring me to play with colours in a new way. I also appreciate your very doable way of finishing the towels. 🙏💕
Lynn - I used cotton yarn made by village yarn, but I've used other brands and think they all work fine for these towels. I used yarn in my stash - golden yellow and blue. Yes...I have a 24 inch loom that I used for this project. I purchased a 32" later and use that sometimes when I'm making something larger. I also bought a stand with that one which i would recommend if you're getting a larger table loom. Thank you for your comment!
How are you getting such a clean shed with that cotton. I am having such trouble using cotton and making towels. I am not a long term weaver. And I have used TH-cam to self teach weaving and having issues with 8/2 cotton. It makes a lousy warp even using two together. It tangles, breaks and is a nightmare to use. However I have a bunch on it because other sights stated it was the product to use for hand towels. But the ones I did get done are thin and not what I would want to give for gifts. Any suggestions.
Janice - I am also self taught. Most of what I know I have learned by trial and error. I am using a 4 ply cotton yarn that I purchased a while ago. I have had trouble with yarns tangling and breaking on other projects. NO FUN. I’m sorry I can’t give you anything more definite....but I would encourage you to keep trying different yarns and you will find what you like and what works for you.
Mery chelha - t shirt fabric is a knit and is not woven on a loom like I have. I have woven fabric and used it for ponchos and very simple projects. Maybe I’ll post a video in the future about that!

I love it! I am getting a loom for Christmas and been watching videos. So glad I found yours! Your video’s are great! Thank you!!
Thank you so much🙂
I've been going back and forth on whether or not to try weaving. Thank you for this!
Have fun weaving! It’s a fun adventure
Thank you for showing how you finish the towels with the hemming and the cutting.
So pretty those tea towels!
Thank you for a very useful video. Perfect for a beginner!
Great video! I am going to make some! I saw a video on hemming the towels while on the loom. It takes time, but I hate pulling out my machine. LOL!
Thank you for your video. Its great. I learned pull-thru loom dressing for maximum fibre use and no cuts. Thx also for naming the fibre brand.

@Payton Ernest it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you really help me out :D
@Ray Amos No problem :)
beautiful! TY so much!
Very clear instructions, thank you!
Thank you for this video! I am learning and this is prefect!
You’re just so clever...😊
Love it...thank you
Thank you for the start to finish tutorial. Are you using a 4 worsted cotton such as Sugsr n Cream?
Yes, 👍
That's awesome!!

I began sewing as a child and learned to weave on my own (trial and error) 😉

I noticed you only warped 64 slots, do you think a 16” loom would work?
I don’t have enough experience to answer that for sure…but I think the 16” would work.👍
is there much shrinkage after washing? thank you
There IS shrinkage... but I haven’t measured

My only experience is with Ashford looms and I would recommend them.

@@bethshibleyquilts do you think Caron Cotton Cakes would be suitable
yes...it looks like a similar yarn to what I used.
What are the "sticks" you put in a 2:46 minute?
They are cardboard strips that you add before beginning the weaving. It helps the weave to be more even to begin with.
What size heddle are you using?
I had trouble finding my notes on this. I think I used 7.5👍
This is amazing! How long does it take you to do one?
I am sorry to say I haven’t done that calculation. 😉
how do I find a transcript of steps? I cannot follow the video...tooo fast. What am i missing??
It’s been quite a while since filming and I don’t have anything in print. Sorry I went too fast.
How long did it take you to do all of this in total? This was super helpful. Thank you.
Sorry I did not calculate the time. I usually fit weaving in between daily chores, etc😉

What was your warp length for these towels? Thank you!
Do you know how to weave cotton for clothes such as t-shirt?
Mery chelha - t shirt fabric is a knit and is not woven on a loom like I have. I have woven fabric and used it for ponchos and very simple projects. Maybe I’ll post a video in the future about that!
