While out in Vegas to photograph SlamBall, I got an idea. I wanted to try and replicate the LOGO with one of the players soaring through the air. I used the Canon EOS R3 at 50 FPS to try and make it happen. I also had to remember how to add multiple frames to the same image in Adobe Photoshop, and thankfully it was much easier then when I first tried it 5 years ago.

How to Quickly Combine Multiple Photos in Adobe Photoshop CC
#FroKnowsPhoto #JaredPolin #Photography
You could have just used the OM-1 that does 50 fps high-speed sequential shooting during AF/AE tracking and 120 fps in AF/AE lock.
Yeah, exactly.
Plus:
ProCapture mode makes it super easy too. But we already know ProCapture is too complex for Jared to wrap his head around since he completely ignored this feature already back when he "reviewed" the Olympus E-M1X...
He did say you didn't have to use the Canon R3
@@NumberOneBlackGuy we’re just teasing him because of his inaptitude to properly leverage the unique capabilities of gear he reviews - like totally dropping the ball on ProCapture…
Jared ain't exactly a fan of M43 system... but yeah OM1 would have been perfect for this shot..
@@thedarkslide: I can guarantee your left nut Jared knows everything camera and photo related better than you.
WOW! Great job on this shoot.
The easier way would be to just use layer masks and paint each subject back in with a white brush. The background isn't changing so there's no need for precise masking.
However ,he was shooting handheld. There were some shakes if you look closely. Thus your technique wouldn't work very well.
Auto align layers first would sort out any movement of the background. There would be only minor movement at 50 fps and then just use a fine soft brush to paint in around the edges of each subject frame. Would be quicker and easier and you would barely be able to see any difference, (IMHO).
@@grahammurphy3360 Ohhk, I didn't think about auto-aligning. Thank you
If he was smart enough to shoot this on a tripod. On a tripod, he could have shot one frame of the scene without the athlete at base ISO and then layer in the faster shutter speed shots with the higher ISO like you described.
This is by far the most efficient method and the one that produces best results (especially when shooting on a tripod)
Fro Pack 4! I’m ready haha I have 1, 2 & 3. My faves are skittles, universal soldier and prestige worldwide
Great episode Jared ! priceless knowledge
just great !
bravo Jared 🙌
Have you tried using all 10 layers (or maybe even all 50?) and have them all except these final four at a lower opacity or darker? That could be a cool composition too I think.
Very good. Back to very useful advice. Great video.
The final image is impressive. However, Luminar Neo stitching app can do the same thing with videos. I am not sure if the out put is equivalent. It would be interesting if you or someone else did a comparison. I don’t use Photoshop, thus I am unable to do the comparison. Good video.
To turn on lots of layers in PS, you can click and hold on the first eyeIcon, then drag over the rest of the eyes to turn them on also. Easier than click, click, clicking each layer
Even though I've the Sony 6400... And I use Paint Shop Pro. Its really neat to see how that was done.. pretty sure I can duplicate this.. Thank you. 👍
We need more of the style of video please 🙏.
great video!!! Thank you!!
Cool!! I also like the "I shoot raw" Cdn shirt.
AWESOME! I'm gonna try that with my Z50!
Not a critique just an observation. Jared always love extreme low F-Stops (not the only one) but there a point to use DOF, and its not with a wide shot and the object/person far away like in this situation. All lenses loose some quality when full opened and the definition is not the same. And as you can see in here, even in F2 we can see the player and the BG in focus so I disagree with the use of F2 and will opt for a minimum of 1 stop closed Iris and compensate with ISO.
But good work Jared, none the less. There is always several methods to catch a fish.
Awesome! I need to work on my PS skills.
"Spray and pray" to me has a connotation of repetitive shots made without a definite purpose, not a sequence of shots taken to capture something like this. This can be done with some effort with any camera on the market.
But...There is only the shadow of the player from the last shot, when i see this right. That is something you could fix to make it even better. But it is great anyway.
Great Video!!
Nikon Z6ii can also do it. 120fps in video mode using photo burst. How? check manual.
Z9 does this in camera
This is THE GREATEST video you've EVER shared! (in my opinion) Wow! Even his legs are seperated like the logo. ONE SHOT? Yup, you're a Pro! Bravo Fro
Fantastic
Question. Doesn't the Z9 do this in camera and call it motion blend with no need to use any other software?
I’m gonnae do this on my 5Dmkiii
Next Canon advertisement ;-)
I’m also surprised that the title is not like: Canon destroys Nikon and Sony!
Did the same thing with my d3300 EVERYONE CAN DO THIS-
I created something a few years ago similar using my Canon 7DMII. I thought I'd need all of it's 10-12 frames for an image of my niece pitching, but I only used maybe eight. Oh and I did it handheld.
7d mark ii is underated, a speed demon 🥰
Very cool
Nice 1 Jared
The fact you used only 4 shots is neither here nor there as you still had 50 to choose from. If you shot 8 fps your choose would be far more limited. :-)
I love this! Jared, you have inspired me to try this with Barrel Racing in Santa Fe this week!
You said how to select and copy the selection but you didn't say where to paste them so they have their own layer. Help!
Update: never mind I figured it out!
I am looking forward to trying this out!
I recently got to play around the the 120fps 4k video mode on my GH6 with some barrel racing. Fun stuff. th-cam.com/users/shortsp6pACUhy4tY?feature=share
and why don't u use a multi flash, and make it with long exposition?
The banner is a right-hand slam, but I like what you did here.
Used 4 shots?
*facebook moms crying in 3fps canon rebel T7*
ive had PS Elements 10. i now have PS whatever that came with my subscription to LR (i had stand alone LR5.71 for a long time) and i have gone through PS youtubes over and over and over from many different creators. NO ONE HAS YET been clear enough for me to follow along. all of the PS tutorials assume i know each function of each tool and then focuses on the procedure using those tools.
does anyone know of a "this is PS 101. we will go over each tool and discuss how they work and what to use them for." up to what Jared just explained?
i just feel so lost with PS
Hey who won the MegaFro give away?
Where is this setting at on my Canon R5
Jared, how do i get the ishoot RAW shirt....?
Jared Polin and the "noise" images
Was his fingers taped because be broke them or for protection?
Jared, i have question. Is it worth to updated to r6 from the R? From 30 mp to 20mp? Or better to save for 45mp R5?
I will stay with EOR R.....the details is insane ♥️
Go to the R6 mark 2. It has 24mp, which by Canon's own claims resolves more detail than the 30mp in the EOS R/5D mkiv (probably due to a revisited AA filter). It has also better low light performance and much better AF, frame rate and video performance. If you can afford it, than the R5 or not yet announced R5 mk2 should be awesome.
Jeremy Parr hi Jared sorry I dont have instant grame and I don't have a created card please I would very much like to order the propack 1,2,and 3 from you plases can you please tell me how much it will coast in Australia dollars and were I can send you the money to you yours truly Jeremy Parr😁
This is easier to do using masks and the eraser tool instead of the selection tool.
I know you poo poo on Pentax a lot but I did a 15 shots on a Pentax K 3 II. Multiplicity shot of a BMX Bike doing a 360 jump about 6 years ago. Over lapping areas.
It wouldn't look as smooth with my Canon EOS RP but I could do it
November rain
You can shot 8k video 60 fps, and save any 30 MP frame from this video...why you need 1 sec and only 50 frames?
Easier if you replaced the poster with the outline of the person midair.
my friends are the slamball players haha, if they ever play in LA i'll go shoot
👀
IIRC, you are left handed. So you let your left "handerism" bias get the best of you. 😝
For videos titled "ANY Photographer Can Do This" it would be cool to also show how to do something without proprietary software that requires installing a proprietary operating system. Although in this case it should be relatively easy to replicate the effect in Krita, for example…
Should also work on just about any platform in GIMP, also for those who run Linux but don't like KDE applications. I haven't tried Krita for several years. I like the KDE environment more than Gnome, but the KDE applications always ran a bit slow for me.
Actually, you didn't explain "How to QUICKLY Combine Multiple Photos in Adobe Photoshop CC (2023)." You did explain how you used the camera, I have been using cameras that can do 60 flaps/second for years, from Olympus and Panasonic Lumix. Even my OM-D E-M5 does nine. So getting the images isn't my question.
First 🎉 ?
It always seems to be a shill for Canon. Being on the payroll? If it’s an anyone can do this video, keep the brand name out. BTW, in the past this was done on one frame using sequential strobes,.
Who cares if you spray and pray? This isn't the 1960's and I paid a lot more for my camera's than my Dad or Grandad did. I did not pay a ton of money on a camera just to gimp it from doing everything it is capable of doing. I will use every minor and major technological advancement that my very beautiful and very expensive camera has to offer in order to capture that moment in time that has captivated me enough to want to point my camera in it's direction. Otherwise why would you bother to own a camera with those capabilities? i didn't buy a full range oven just to never turn the oven on and I didn't buy a camera with 30 fPS just to lock it on single shot.
Don't spray and pray?? Come on! No one is going to snap one pic like that. OBVIOUSLY you spray. You don't need to pray.
R3 is just overrated.
