I'll take a cheap 1.4 over a super expensive but non existing 1.2 every day of the week
For real. They are gonna sell tons of these.
sry but in my opinion there are no interessting lenses in the nikon lineup. where are the lenses they told they need a mount switch for? like canon is doing with the f2 28-70 or the 24-205 2.8 ect... yes the nikon glas is sharp and all.. but arent all lenses sharp and stuff in that pricerange? please someone explain..
Nikon seems to be taking the practical and functional route like an all day hand-holdable 800mm, Tele primes with TC, a 14-24 that takes filters, 135 that has no vignette and cats eye, 1.8 lenses that perform like premium lenses. Etc. there’s a lot of value in that as a working professional. Thinking about it nothing I mentioned above are things that canon or sony offers.
I love cheap 1.4 lenses, they don't need to be anything special, just solid. This could be a great thing if Nikon releases some cheap but powerful lenses. That's theway to get more people to the system.
A cheap Nikon 50mm F1.4 is rumored to be coming. Hopefully it's compact and light like the new 35mm F1.4.
@@victorlim5077 A lot of us have been trained to believe that a f/1.4 lens is better than a f/1.8 lens, beyond the 2/3 stop difference. That default mindset may need adjustment.
40mm f/2 feels cheap ...is cheap and have a great quality . I love that lens on my Z6 II
🥰
Considering buying one!
Nikon is going to sell truckloads of this lens. Its perfect for the Z6iii / DJI RS4 combo for people doing video.
Agreed!
I believe we will see Nikon release a series of 1.4 Primes but the pricing and positioning in the lineup is weird. But still, great to have choices.
It's priced like a Tamron lens.
That's a very good price point for the 35mm 1.4. Very competitive compared to Sony and Canon.
Damn, I'm pretty sure this is by far the lightest 35/1.4 with af ever made. Very impressive.
Light lenses seems to be something Tamron emphasizes at times.
in body lens corrections can mask massive vignette issues. Considering the filter thread size of only 62mm on full frame is laughable. Imagine a world where T stops told the truth about light transmission, and F stops were for marketing dept fantasy.
@@godsinbox yeah, i'll be waiting to see the tests before trading in my 35 1.8S. Although 62 mm for a 35mm isn't alarming, sigma 35mm 1.4 for reflex has a 67mm filter, with a pretty big rim (the front element is much smaller than 67mm).
@@godsinbox You're imagining the world of cinema lenses. 🎥
I’m looking forward to the 35/1.4. I was about to pull the trigger on the 40/2 but I think the 35/1.4 will be better for me. 💛🖤
Having worked for a 'Big Company' I can confirm that any 'Road Map' is only valid the minute it is released. The very next day, week and/or month - everything can and will change and no one will ever go back to fix the road map. Just the way it is.
I just hate to see that this channel isn't growing a lot and the views are kinda getting low nowadays. Been watching him for a long time now. And his content is great, i would love to see his channel grow more.
I know I’ve noticed that too I don’t know if it’s people going over to peta pixel or something or maybe less people are interested in pro cameras
@@Drewqes i mean i know i am not going to be able to afford these expensive cameras but i just like to watch these videos to be up to date. And the way he explains everything is soo good. He will explaing a lot of smaller details also that other reviewers don't.
I think it could possibly have to do with the economy. I know I'm not paying as much attention to new gear because I can't afford it right now. There is plenty of high quality used gear out there that was top of the line when I started getting into photography, so I'm only buying used cameras/lenses from about 10 years ago. I have no idea if this is true for others, but I wonder how many are in my position and are realizing that having the latest and greatest isn't as important to them as having money in the bank.
that’s happened when Jared moved from Sony to Canon. He felt in love with the two unique wide open L glass and that sealed the deal. But its limiting his „testing“ for other brands. He still does but almost every time referencing to Canon. But those are suuuper far of consumers and even some pros.
@@ironspike171 even though he moved to canon. Still gives same in depth review of nikon/sony cameras and lenses. He doesn't only talk about canon.
I don't care if it's a cheap 35 1.4. Finally I can sell my 35 1.4 f mount and I have a native one. will it be perfect? I don't think so. But for environmental portraits it will be super nice.
I'd rather keep shooting with the f mount in this case 🙄 Or go for 7artisans 35mm 1.4 FF lens which although manual focus I bet it's better than this new lens 😁
@@dicekolev5360 define better. The old one is super soft. If this lens has the same characteristics of the 40 2.0 but at 1.4 we have a winner in my mind.
Nikon's gonna go wild and sell a 35mm F1.
And none of us will be able to afford it.
Glad to see Madeline back 😍😅
😆
She's fiiine! 😘😊
A cheap first party f/1.4, I am not complaining. But then again, during the days of their F-Mount lineup, both 1.8 and 1.4 weren't exactly expensive compared to Canon EF. If they manage to put a cheap trio of 35, 50 and 85mm f1.4 for similar pricing, it will be an instant hit.
Dang jared’s arms looking hella small today.
He skipped his 800mm Lens Lifting Day. 😊
While i know some people will complain about not getting the 1.2 yet, im sure the 1.4 will be very popular.
Its good to have faster options than the 1.8s, that arent 1.2 levels of cost.
Personally, i hope this lens is the start of nikon releasing non S, but still good, 1.4 lenses. Like a 50mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.4, that are relatively affordable and perform decently
Most photographers are realizing that the 2/3 stop difference between f/1.8 and f/1.4 does not affect their images.
It is probably the start of the f/1.4 primes, made by Tamron and rebranded as Nikon. Similar to the 28-75mm f/2.8 and 70-180mm f/2.8 lenses.
@@UnconventionalReasoning maybe. But I think I read that the optical formula of the new 1.4 doesn't seem to be from any other lens. So it's probably a fully original Nikon lens
But I do hope it's the start of a new line of 1.4 lenses. More options is always good
@@JuanSanchez-zz3me Yes, it is a new optical formula. Which means it can be a fully original Tamron lens. They do that too.
It's great to see Nikon producing a budget friendly 35mm f1.4, but this is really long overdue and should have become standard across the market by now.
In the past 35mm lenses were optically complex because the lens is shorter than the flange distance of SLR cameras, forcing lenses wider than 40mm to use a "retrofocusing" design.
Now that we're on short flange mirrorless systems that is no longer the case, meaning every lens longer than 20mm should be dramatically less expensive on mirrorless than it is on SLR... but looking at the market today do we have a "Nifty 24f1.8" on every system? Nope. Camera companies are holding out on us.
I believe the Nikon road map is no longer being updated so that missing lens may just be a figment of Nikon's earlier imagination.
No. That bad boy (35/1.2) is still on the way. No doubt.
American Pie - brilliant 😂
love that, canon take a $50 cut on 3rd party lenses lol, thieving bastards!
From Nikon’s announcement email, guessing this is a hint as to why it’s so cheap/non-S: “Durable.
Designed carefully considering dust and drip-resistant performance*. *Thorough dust- and drip- resistance is not guaranteed in all situations.”
Thanks for always giving everyone the news on new camera products.
For a moment, I thought I heard you say the new Nikon lens was an F mount. Wishful thinking, I know. 😀
35mm is the most versatile lens because of the non-distort look, wide enough in most situations and 1.4 3d-pop. Just wish they would push it to f1.2 or even 1.0 to get some new and fresh feeling. ♥️
Or are they going to go full madlad and make the S-line 35 a 1.0 just to mess with Canon and Sony?
I think the Nikon 35mm f/1.2 S lens is still in the plan, but it has been derailed. Hopefully only temporarily.
@@fetzie23 I would be all down with that! Spice up the game and dont make it too big. Camera engineers need to step up their game. 😁
Don't stop believing Canon users.
I think it's good even though it's not an S line lens it will still sell well. It's cool to see nikon releasing cheap glass that most people can afford
Wait that Sigma zoom will releaset to Nikon Z-mount for crop sensor camera
Hey Nikon Lovers I have a D750 and iam looking for a good samaritan to donate nikon Lense. I can't afford buying a Lense. Greetings from Uganda
Nikon needs more 1.4 lenses. The 1.2 are to expensive but the 1.8 for a prime is to entry level. Without mid level lenses, there not gonna get ppl invested in the system.
Some of the other YooToobers who have handled the 35/1.4 lens seem to think it's a great feeling and performing lens.
And the price, oh man!
I'm gonna get one myself later this year! 😊
and sony is still zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Ok, so a 85mm 1.4 non-S at no more than 600$ is now very possible....
The Sigma APS-C lens is long overdue! Canon shoild have worked with Sogma long before now to allow this lens. I wouldn't be surprised if Canon has lost some customers to other brands because of the lack of APS-C lenses for the RF mount.
Certainly a general purpose 18-50mm f2.8 is interesting. But note the lack of optical image stabilization... and that of the Canon APS-C cameras, only the R7 has in-body stabilization ( not counting disigtal stabilization that relies upon a crop).
Personally I find more interesting that Sugma has also announced five more APS-C lenses coming soon...
10-18mm f2.8
16mm f1.4
23mm f1.4
30mm f1.4
56mm f1.4
I have no experience with the others, but have found the 23mm and 56mm to be excellent (in another mount).
It’d be insane if Canon started limiting 3rd party lenses drive speed. Especially since my adapted 3rd party lenses can shoot 40fps perfectly fine.
Nikon confirmed that the 35 1.4 is NOT the same lens that is on the road map - the 35 1.2 S will still be coming out.
-PD
I would skip this Nikon 35 mm 1.4 and just buy the Tamron SP 1.4 as that lens even though it's F mount is absolutely amazing. The quality of the lens is outstanding and is probably one of the best lenses Tamron has ever released. Sure hope Nikon sticks to its amazing lens releases and releases a 35 1.2.
Hey Jared, can you send me one of yours good looking Shoot On Z Yellow Shirt? I love yellow color and I really want one but can't afford one right now, can I have one before it's all gone?
Forget photography, the Fro needs a fitness channel. LOL
1:46 "...but the R5 is a little long in the tooth at this point..." *Looks over at my Sony SLT-A57 and Nikon 1J1* Yes, yes he did. Jared just said you guys are from the stone age.
I guess, the Nikon 1.4 doesn't have great performance to the edge on full frame, but for crop it does, Therefore it's doing double duty in the line up as a crop standard and am inexpensive full frame wide, that is good enough for environmental portrait and street photography in FX but not fine art and architecture
What is more surprising is that some random TH-camrs in Hong Kong already have their hands on the lens and churned out videos while Jared is still wondering about it. 😂
Nikon is just delivering the last few years. Best system for the dollar right now.
Because he’s a clout chaser. 😅
Great video
It is still compatible on a full frame if needed.
Can’t wait too see nikon’s elCheapo vs canon’s new 35 1.4
Your bicep tan lines are distracting.
my job is done here
The like if for the Rasing Arazona clip.
I think most "real" photographers do not hang their life on whether Nikon fields a lens not previously listed on their so called "road map"...Anyway CHEERS
always choose the lens system you want to be in before choosing anything else. Nikon has what, 7 lenses now? Woooooop
I hope this is not going to stop them from releasing a 35 mm 1.2.
I think Nikon may be getting ahead of Viltrox’s announced 1.4 primes they are developing for Z mount..
May be a rebranded viltrox, as like from tamron earlier. 😅
When will Nikon/Nikkor release Fisheye?
I'm happy the 35mm is not a S line. There is so much you can do with a lens and a S line would have been bigger, heavier and more expensive.
S line would have less in body vignette profile corrections?
also only cost $600 usd also no Nao crystal coating
It's not 52mm focal length which does not change. What changes is the angle of view. Damn it Fro. ;-)
Equivalent
Probably it's 35mm 1.4 for DX!
quite likely. 62mm filter size would require massive vignette corrections for FF sensor.
There is no roadmap anymore.
Hi mr canon guy 😂 nice try
Canon will always show elitism because they are the best at this game…
they are a little more honest, you need the diameter and weight of the glass AND the expense for quality glass.
Preorder the 1.4. I will buy every 1.4 nikon makes. For a run and gun prime lens user 1.4’s are perfect
I wonder if that 35 f1.4 was another one of those not-nikon lenses by tamron....
No it’s not.
remarkably, the filter size is even smaller on this 1.4 lens than the Tamron. impossibly small I say.
The Z6III is Nikon's A7III moment
you know it is double the price of the A7iii. It is supposed to represent good value.
1
Made by Tamron
Nope why are people thinking this lol
Its a tamron 35mm 1.4 fyi
it isnt a T stop 1.4. F stops is marketing BS.
It’s not
35 f1.4 for apsc body that's why it is cheap.
35mm f/1.4 is probably the worst lens they got. Its neither sharp nor does it have good contrast except for in the middle. The f/1.8 literally runs circles around it in quality. Yes its more expensive, but for a 100 bucks you get an infinitely better lens. It makes Zero sense.
instead of pushing cheaper f/1.8 lenses from the beginning and then give us better 1.4 glas and exceptional 1.2 glas, we as consumers are getting f-ed twice. Neither are we getting what we asked for nor reasonable prices. its insane
@@codebunnies1.8 brighter than 1.4? Lol what
@@livejames9374 are you aware of T stops? they are real, as apposed to F stop marketing BS. you see this new 62mm lens diameter cannot produce 1.4 without massive in body vignette corrections. the image circle on FF for a properly designed 1.8 will be far brighter than this '1.4' toy.
@@godsinbox yes I’m aware of t stop and Nikon lenses have typically been pretty close to aperture. Who demonstrated the 35 1.4 being a less bright lens in comparison to 1.8?
