Man this is like the perfect handheld! I already have the Deck but the only thing I feel like it's missing is a SIM card slot (and maybe a physical keyboard). If only Steam buys this design and implements its GUI on it.

This has me torn on whether or not to sell my Steam Deck for this instead. Been trying to get windows on Steam Deck via SD but its so slow and buggy. Haven't gotten a game to work off of it yet without having some goofy workaround and multiple restarts. I like this form factor. Makes me miss my Vita. So torn

Not a bad plan. If you're interested in the sd card slot and physical keyboard, i recommend the gpd win max. In my opinion, they're the only compact gaming pcs that has a usuable keyboard you can use with your hands.

I want a screen quality comparison between the Ayaneo 2 and the Win 4. According to GPD the color gamut on the Win 4 is 98%, while Ayaneo 2 is stating 135%. Funny thing is, GPD on their Indiegogo page was asked by someone what their color accuracy was, mentioning the Ayaneo 2's 135%, and they responded by saying that they think Ayaneo is lying about their color accuracy being that high. Kind of undiplomatic to respond with, and surprised me.

What's the point of a 1080p screen on a gaming-focused handheld device that will have to rely on battery for handheld usage? Then it doesn't run quite some modern games at 1080p well to justify the higher battery to drive more pixels compared to a 720p or a 900p screen. Feels like those other devices are going for higher resolutions screens for bragging rights alone at the expense of battery life, you said the Win 4 has a larger capacity battery compared to the Deck, but from your assessment on battery life it seems it is not enough to offset the 6800U that works best at higher wattage compared to the Deck's APU plus the display also being a bigger drain on the battery than the Deck's 800p

The prices are really good to especially with the power is packing especially the 16GB/512GB version that is priced affordably at $799 to compete with the Steam Deck but the best part is that all of the prices for the different versions they offered are final price and not special or early bird special prices.

@@ricky865 That's almost "too little too late", the RDNA 3 handhelds will be out this year (2023) and those will clap all existing devices. Great review and the optimisation tips will really come in handy when I get the device. Your videos are always so informative. The moment I saw that design I knew I had to get the Win 4, and I'm glad that the previews for it are good. I'm curious what kind of power and performance use there is after the optimisation. The 15W vs. 25W figures are interesting, but if I play with optimisations, they're not that relevant. In theory it would also have been nice to see intermediate TDPs like 18W, but I figure that again, optimised settings performance is what matters.

Yes it is, however I may also suggest that you simply buy the 64GB Steam Deck for $400 and then put a 1TB 2230 SSD that you can get for around $100 on Al iexp ress. You would get a considerably better value. However, if you intend to also use the GPD Win 4 as a desktop PC and need a small console, then I highly suggest you get the base model for $800. The Ryzen 7 6800U is generally 40% faster than the Steam Deck at 15W TDP, and at 15W it's also going to have a better battery life. Play the games at 720p and do not use Radeon Super Resolution. And the Ryzen 7 6800U is crazy fast because of its 8 much more powerful cores that can handle an eGPU well and which can run all the apps you need in desktop mode.

27:25 I agree that it;s great to have customisation, but I disagree about the default layout being "not great". It is by far, the best layout out of all the handhelds. Things like page up, page down, etc, help with browser and text box navigation. They can also still be bound in games without controller support.

Maybe this is better for discord, but you seem to be a person to ask. I have a win4 on the way, and I love cheap microSD storage-this thing's got room for 1. My outgoing laptop has tiny tf adapters shoved into every exposed usb-a. What's the best way to get more tf slots onto a win4? It'd be great if I could just stick something to the back with 2-4 tf slots and a low profile usbc ribbon cable--I don't think that exists 🤣.
Currently, best attempt is that I have two designs of small usb c to 4x usba hubs coming to try out. idea being to shove tiny microSD adapters into them, but maybe there's a better idea(?). (yes, am a data-hoarder...)

How do you actually set up the 6800U to run at 45W? I mean you mention that the fan will handle it, but we never actually see benchmarks at 45W and how it is achieved, given that the 6800U is rated 15-28W and the 35/45W would be the 6800 H/HS. I specifically ask because there are several “comparison” videos coming out by idiots, who take your video for granted and they claim that the GPD Win 4 is the fastest of the 6800U handheld, because it runs at 45W. I think that's such a stupid point to make because all 6800U units will run the same if set up the same and within the operating temperature (e.g. with a sufficient cooling solution)
