    26 gallons an hour X $7.00 a gallon of JetA= $182 bucks an hour at 216 kts X 1.15 = 248 MPH, 2 hour round trip, $364 bucks.
    How much do you need to have in cash to live comforably and be able to maintain the TP210? I'd say at least be completely out of debt and have 3 million in cash and an income of about 80K a year. What say you all?

    • @alexanderfederowicz

      I think I would want to grab a few low mileage planes for parts... Good air frames with engines that were gone because of random parts failure... Strip out the Motors and keep them for parts... Also I would want to do a modern version of the Silver Eagle with a full glass panel for absolute minimization of engine operation issues... Also I would always fly it with a competent friend... I believe one should Fly like one Scuba Dives... Never Alone... There are Old Pilots, there are Bold Pilots... But there just are not many OLD... BOLD... Pilots.... The Alps Reach up to grab you real fast when a single like that has an Engine failure that can actually be righted... One to fly it and one to fix the problem... May I also suggest learning the Techniques that ATP Pilots do for these issues... Some days I feel a bit Old.... Some Days I feel a Bit Bold... But I make Sure I'm on Tera Firma when Both are a Happening thing...

      Literally no one has said cost of ownership of an airplane is cheap. You can’t just compare everything in life to a dollar amount without taking in the value aspect of it, otherwise we’d all just eat bread and drink water.

    • @BannedOnMain
      @BannedOnMain ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The advantage of a silver eagle is that, aside from acquisition cost, its actually cheaper to operate than a piston P210. This is solely because the TSIO-520 they came with only had 1400hr TBO and the Allison is 3600. Yes the fuel burn is higher, but you climb at 2000fpm instead of 600 in the piston, you also dont have to step climb with the Allison. Typical flight plan for these is 25gph, but its more like 20 in reality.

    NonyaBusiness! Actually, what AEROMAGNUM TV might be trying to say in limited form expressing, "nope" is that although the Silver Eagle does burn 'JetA' as opposed to its counterparts insistence of 'Avgas', the previously installed Continental consumed(s) 23 gph, while the 250B17F/2 450 shp that weighs half of what the reciprocating engine weighed pencils out to about 22 gph (+/-). (Fuel consumption (gph): @ 12,000 ft: 24.0, @ 17,500 ft: 22.7, @ 23,000 ft: 19.5)
    The transformation is nothing short of phenomenal and can only be truly realized behind the yoke. Believe me, it IS phenomenal! And the SE can take off AND land in minimal space, usually 600ft. for landing/ 700ft. TO over a 50ft obstacle. That is something the OEM reciprocating hulk-of-a-machine could never do, let alone consider taking off from this mountainside.
    FYI: Even the best reciprocating P210R could never make it out of this Locher grass strip.
    In simplistic terms, it could never be said that it is "poor bang for the buck". A comment like this might be in consideration of VLJ options. But given the mountainous strip angles and terrain, I am pretty sure even the best of the best comparable 'very light jet' would end up in the owners warehouse with great loss. So, "Best Bang" for the owners strip,,, well dig a little more for the Pilatus PC-12.
    So, nothing could be further than the truth ... and like Ferris Bueller said, "It is so choice, if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

    Isn't this a 210? When I used to fly with Civil Air Patrol as a search and rescue pilot I remember doing a search for one of these that crashed. It turned out that the pilot flew through cumulus clouds and the wings were ripped off. Must have been really horrible riding that plane all the way down without a wing. I have always thought that really slick look was weaker than a traditional construction with a wing strut.

    • @Spec62

    • @ericcurry1119
      @ericcurry1119 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not know the MU2 did not have ailerons? Are you sure, seems odd to me.
      I'm not an aeronautical engineer but it sure looks like the MU2 's high wing is really tied into the fuselage with a lot more structural integrity, it looks to me as a non expert that the 210 is tied into the fuselage at a very thin section of the fuselage. What do I know...

    • @cavsh00ter
      @cavsh00ter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MU 2 has spoilers on top,
      Really check it out, extream wing loading, same as a 210 theres more than it looks like, there is an AD to have the spair inspection done, I've flown 210s and the are tough birds, MU 2 s are my favorite, noisy Garret's and buddy it's a get up and go Plane

All was well until one day over the Rockies at 20,000ft the wings came off and the whole family cratered.........I have time in 152-172-182 and they are all great, even hit some severe in the 182 and it came through without a ruffle.........struts good.......

      -- It IS easy to do! I watched video yesterday of a Draco -- modified with 600 hp turbine -- totaled out on takeoff as the left wing dipped slightly -- 3 seconds into the takeoff roll -- about a half second from being airborne, and then it was all over ...over a million dollars worth of modifications all over the place! Way too much power!

    Nice convertion, The turbine engines are more powerful and lighter than a piston engine, and you probably get a higher payload and a realy nice climbrate. However the airframe probaly has a VNE limitation so any rocket except for climb performance ? Probably not.

      @dunxtonchexton1631 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The probability of a turbine failure is essentially 0 (mean time between failures is on the order of hundreds of thousands of flight hours), based on what he showed in the video he was flying as high as he could under visual flight rules. To go higher than 18,000 feet would have required filing an instrument flight plan which comes with ATC hefty fees in Europe.

    I had many of these radios in my prior panel, fun to see them still working in 2018. I see you never even launched the Argus, with it's 9 year old database. I even had the Argus and the Shadin fuel flow you have. I am curious about the VFR flight only placard: clearly that's appropriate for your home airport I'd think it would be useful for enroute or destination weather. Although, 30 GPH, 147 kts at altitude and what, 90 gallons without Flint tip tanks? You probably are not flying into many major weather systems in that distance. Fond memories for me and an outstanding package for the world you are enjoying. Very nice all around.
