Not all sausages are packaged this way, most are sealed in plastic, and mustard also comes in jars here lol we just have more options
We also have mustard in jars here in Germany. It comes in glass jars, those tubes and in those big plastic ones…
sprite pie isn’t a traditional thing but it IS based off of water pie, which was made virtually the same way but with water instead of sprite - it was created during times of hardship when people couldn’t afford fruit!

Yes you can actually use green tomatoes to make apple pie. Weird how things can be used that will apparently be very similar to taste.
Fun fact: real banana cream was the original filling of twinkies, the vanilla taste came later in the twinkie history

The Sprite pie is actually a recipe from The Great Depression (probably why it seems like such a depressing pie). During that time, food was scarce, so they had to really improvise. They also made mock apple pie with Ritz crackers lol

haven’t heard of sprite pie in the US (apparently this is based off water/great depression pie that i’ve learned of in the comments) but making cake with sprite/7up (vanilla) or dr. pepper (chocolate) is common ! you can even find ‘sprite cakes’ in the grocery stores
Is it because sprite has lemon in it? Lemon cake is quite common, so it would sense as to why sprite goes so well with cake.

I knew that sprite cake wouldn’t turn out when she started pouring out of a two litre bottle when the recipe used a 355ml can 🤷🏼♀️. Next time Naomi!!
Yeah no wonder it came out liquid when she filled a spring form pan with the sprite instead of a shallow pie dish lol
I think another issue was the crust itself. I've never seen a pie dough crust that wasn't par-baked before pouring filling inside. the raw crust couldn't cook due to the carbonated liquid being poured on top - basically the Sprite started dissolving the raw pie dough immediately.
I also would mix the Sprite, flour and sugar in a separate bowl, allowing the sugar to melt and the filling to thicken, which also allows the carbonation to settle a little, and then pour it into the par-baked crust very carefully. lol, the videos of people pouring pure soda directly into a crust are nonsense. obviously you should mix the pie filling in a separate bowl before you put it into the crust. people probably poured the Sprite straight into the first crust just for the video, then made a proper pie filling out of Sprite and then poured that into a second crust to achieve the pie shown as the end result.
Y'all- pie crusts aren't a thing here in Germany, we don't even eat pie here at all 💀💀 can't blame her for changing that

That pie is essentially just the same as a water pie. They used to make it during times when food was in very short supply, like wartimes.

Sprite pie is a spin on water pie which is a depression era food. A lot of foods made fun of in America are hard time foods which are comforting to our older generations 😕. My dad, He is 73. His favorite dessert was an apple cored and stuffed with butter and cinnamon sugar and baked until soft and caramelized. Another favorite dessert of his is angel food cake topped with canned fruit. His family couldn't afford much fresh produce so it was a waste to use it in things like that, so they bought cans more often than not. 😬

Fun fact, the sprite pie is tik tok version of "water pie" that was made during the Great Depression here in the US. It's practically the same thing, except it's using sprite instead of water lol.
While it's weird, families had to do whatever they could to stretch food from cheap ingredients for their children! My grandmother never outgrew her need to store a ton of food that she'd grow and can, and hated throwing anything away food wise.
