    Also see if the unit you are interested in will allow you to shadow. When you shadow please pay attention to how management and the staff interact with each other. Apply for different positions
    The debate is on going about starting Med Surg first. Med Surg will give you the foundation needed that will help you improve your critical thinking abilities. I went through a new grad critical care nurse residency program for ICU. Being a new grad ICU nurse was challenging I ask to temporarily transfer to a lower acuity for six months to get my foundation and I returned back to ICU. Remember nursing offers a wide range of options and you have time to find what works best for you. Ask a season nurse about their career path most of them will tell you about the different units they worked until they found what they like. Being a nurse is something you have to experience for yourself. It is rewarding, challenging, will make you curse, piss you off, and humble you all at the same time. So be ready for the challenge and stay on your gRiNd. Mel, RN

    I highly recommend asking to shadow for 4 hours. It was beneficial for me to see how the nightshift nurses work together, what the dynamic is between dayshift and nightshift, and I was able to ask questions to more nurses on the floor than just the nurses in my interview. My unit has now made it a requirement that all new hires shadow the floor after an interview because they value the opinions of the staff and want to make sure you're a good fit for them too. It's very beneficial for both parties involved!

Any advice I want to become a nurse I just graduated and originally went into school for business but before I graduated HS wanted to be a doctor. I wasn’t with the long schooling and was scared that I didn’t have the stomach for the endless possibilities of gore I might see. I’m just now giving nursing real consideration because I have a deeep passion to help others and I have always been interested in some level of medicine. Any advice on what I should do?

    • @chi8977

    The community college I'm attending has a two year associates in nursing should I get that, start working and continue my education or should I just go straight for a bachelors degree?

    • @taneriapollins9225
      @taneriapollins9225 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would say take your pre reqs at a community college then go for your bsn to save money. If money is not an option go for your bsn. You can always get your associates then do a bridge program later for your bsn.

    • @alkal3828

      I would look at the nursing jobs in your area and see what they require for their nurses. Some of the hospitals in my area won't even consider you unless you have a bsn. Others will hire you with an associates and give you 5 years to get your bsn after hire. So definitely look at the jobs in your area and see what they want
