"Alice's Restaurant" was based on Arlo getting arrested for illegal trash dumping on Thanksgiving which later led to him being rejected for military service at the height of the Vietnam War.
Hi there Just discovered your channel. Great video, lots of energy and you spoke really well. I completely agree with you about cheap records.Low value certainly does not mean poor quality and you proved that here. There can be quite a considerable amount of snobbery associated with record collecting and this is a refreshing reminder that it truly is all about the music at the end of the day.Love that Harry Belafonte album ( I found a mint copy here in the UK for £1).Year of the cat is superb.Any Al Stewart before this is also worth seeking out.Telstar is an unforgettable tune.Never seen Leapy Lee here.I was waiting for you to show Whipped Cream by Herb Alpert ( not actually so common here in the UK).Enjoyed this and your simple ,direct style, no frills.😉👍
Thanks for your kind feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I agree completely about the snobbery in this hobby. It's a shame that we can't all just enjoy the music! Whipped Cream would have been a great one to include but I don't own a copy at the moment... maybe I'll get one in time for part two, there's definitely a lot more albums I could have included in this.
I almost exclusively buy used dollar bin records. My son is the luckiest dollar bin buyer I know. CCR, Led Zeppelin, and the Beatles just recently. Kills me.
I first started collecting right before the vinyl revival really kicked in, and it was common for me to find Beatles and CCR albums at the thrift stores. They were usually in bad shape, but still listenable and collectible. Now, it never happens to me!
Records I have actually found in the dollar bin Electric ladyland: jimi Hendrix Caribou: elton john Madman across the water: elton john Blue: joni Mitchel Who's next: the who The doors: the doors A garden days night: the Beatles Poems prayers and promises: john denver England's newest hitmakers: rolling stones
Ohhh I could create a solid ONE HOUR video on this very subject! There’s far too much fawning over the classic rock and expensive jazz on these kinds of videos, and because their minds are closed, the cheap bins are automatically perceived as being full of badly dated trash. I’m glad I’m not with that group.

Good job. Please do another video like this.
There is gold in the dollar bins.
Great video, looks like you might have triggered the TH-cam algo at last, subed.
I hope so! Thanks a lot for watching and subscribing.
Great video. Really enjoyed this. Nice to see The Unicorn included. I did mange to find Leapy Lee in the dollar bins, surprisingly.
Jamie Cottle thanks, I’m glad you liked it!

All ok but I had the tango album and I didn't like it. I gave it back to a driftshop
