  • In the centre of the Perthshire Highlands is the Scottish town of Pitlochry. Initially a little community, it became increasingly well-known as a tourist destination in the Victorian era. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert frequently visited the town during their multiple trips to the region.
Pitlochry is renowned for its picturesque landscapes and outdoor pursuits including hiking and fishing. Due to its proximity to numerous well-known distilleries, like Blair Athol and Edradour, it is also a well-liked destination for whisky fans. The town is also home to the Pitlochry hydroelectric power station, which is the oldest working hydroelectric power station in the world. You will also find the Pitlochry Dam and Fish Ladder, which was constructed in the 1950s to aid salmon migration upstream.
If you ever plan to visit the town, locals advise that the best time would be closer to, or during the summer, as many of the local shops, restaurants, and cafes operate at reduced hours or are temporarily closed during the winter for planned renovations. We obviously missed the boat on that one, but nevertheless had a wonderful time in this small town!
In my walk through experience, which was more like a stroll, I navigate through the town centre, then passed the train station en route to the Dam, and then circle back to the town centre. Hope you enjoy the tour! If you would be so kind as to like and share the video, and subscribe to our channel, that would be amazing! We would also love to hear from you, whether you have any experiences to share about Pitlochry, any feedback or suggestions, please feel free to share!
We hope you enjoy this walk through experience!
