Love how Bernie gets "lucky" into his answer at the end on family - great plug! I'm very much enjoying this series, a superb piece of work and TV!

A brilliantly made and very informative TV docuseries... I was shocked to learn that when Politicians decided that tobacco ads were to be completely banned across Europe, (in an effort to deter people from smoking cigarettes and help non smokers avoid inhaling toxic, second hand fumes. Science had proven that smoking cigarettes was lethal and would gradually lead to people dying a horrific death from cancer... Bernie fought to protect his generous source of income and bribed the then British prime minister, so that he and the F1 teams could continue to get paid hundreds of millions of advertising dollars, every year, from Tobacco giants, for another decade. Bernie clearly chose profits over the health and welfare of people, and while he became a billionaire, millions of people smoked their way to an early grave, because of the advertising business of making lethal cigarettes look sexy, (if you didn't smoke you were a loser!) I lost all respect for Bernie when this information was revealed... just a very greedy, greedy, greedy little man.)

Judgmental much? Human do things that are dangerous to some extent and likely will for the foreseeable future. Is the auto sports industry a nobel endeavor? it used to kill people its drivers, marshals, spectators, etc.quite frequently 40-50 years ago. Cigarettes and Alcohol, were part of the DNA of F1, look at footage from 40-50 years ago, drivers would come out of the cars with oil in the faces, lots of them , lost friends, people that would get at least injured, burned, etc. Do you think having a cig and driking was considered a problem to their segment? Of course, the sport become more and more mainstream and things changed, but racing, mechanics, etc. were not about "wellness and fitness" yoga, etc.
And from my understanding what Bernie wanted a phase out from Tobacco, he didn´t say there were good and ought to continue being promoted freely, peopel should have choices, etc. But to turn off all tobacco from F1, lights would be a big hit to the industry and as he mention in the documentary it was phased out..
