I like this idea of teaching us to play something that sounds good playing alone. This way I can have something to play when someone says “play us something” as well as something to play for my own enjoyment. Thanks for this lesson. Does this style of playing have a name?
Man... That's a good question. I don't really know if this particular style has a name. I mean, I just think of it as old timey, country, bluegrass influenced guitar playing. That's just how they played back then. If it was a little more sophisticated with a melody you could call it "solo guitar". But I just think of this as the old way of playing, that most people have forgotten about. Sure, you see it on the Internet, but if you were to base what you see on the Internet compared to players on a whole, I'd still gamble that it's a small percentage of people playing that way. I just think it sounds good and it's satisfying to me!
there just isn't enough Bob Wills love in this world. Props to you sir!
