Nikon D850 | The BEST Time to Photograph Birds | Bird Photography

  • Using the Nikon D850 for bird photography is really awesome. Granted the lens I use in this video isn't the most optimal lens for bird photography in low light, but when combined with the D850's huge 45MP sensor in brighter light, it allows me to crop in and still get a decent image. The Nikon D850 never ceases to amaze me with it's quality of images. I get up early in the morning in this video, before sunrise, the best time to photograph birds in my opinion, and head to my local beach. Just like humans, birds awaken looking for a meal, so they're out foraging for food everywhere, forests, beaches, lakes, even your backyard. If I had the money, I would love to combine the Nikon D850 with something like the Nikon 400mm f/2.8E FL VR prime lens with a 1.4 teleconverter for a low light bird photography session (but that's a $15K AUD lens). One can only dream.
    All the gear in this video was bought and paid for by myself, it is in no way sponsored.

    Check out the massive size of that ocean coastline in the video. Of all the spots, that Osprey attack took place right in front of me! Talk about lucky. Thanks for watching 🦅🙏

    What a morning adventure! That first hunting sequence was mind blowing. So incredible to see it so close up. So many varieties of birds, quick on the trigger and so sharp. Mesmerising to watch, beautiful production. Funny too - come back Egret! Ha ha. Loved it.

      Cheers Richard thanks so much for watching. I think the D850 will go down as one of the best DSLRs ever made. Best money I've ever spent on a camera and such a pleasure to use. Always appreciate your kind support mate and how cold is it at the moment? Pure blue sky here today, talk about brilliant astro weather 🙏💫🙏

    Fantastic! It's interesting to see the birds in your area. Many of them are similar in shape and even name to birds here but many are totally different. The osprey though is exactly the same. They nest everywhere here. I've seen them in the lights of both a soccer and baseball field here. Also on huge power line towers. There is a road that runs parallel to the Tennessee river and every single cell phone tower has a nest! They are amazing fishermen. I really enjoyed this. Thank you.

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Phil, thanks so much for watching. Those Osprey are just amazing aren't they. I'm looking into getting a faster bird/wildlife prime lens, but as you know they're quite expensive and much more heavier. I'm seeing some great lenses 2nd hand on ebay here (eg, Nikon 600mm F4 $9500AUD) but still heavy on the wallet. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, look forward to your next video 👍🙏📸

    Hi Adrian, a great video once more and unbelievable how many big birds you have around you. The sea eagle series, catching the fish at ~2:20 is outstanding. I think, maybe the 150-600mm were not a disadvantage if you do such shootings more often. But it worked also with the 400 as we have seen ;) I wish you a great weekend!

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for watching Christian. Yes I agree the 150-600mm lens is worth a look. I think I will hire one first to see if it meets my needs. Always appreciate your kind support my friend. Have an amazing week and stay safe 👍🙏📸

    What a fun video Adrian! I've never been much of a bird photographer but it's awesome to see your enthusiasm. There is a great horned owl (I think) in the forest that eludes me every time I go on a hike that I would love to capture though. Maybe one day I'll get lucky enough to actually get within 100 meters of him - lol. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Rob. That owl sounds awesome to photograph. You should give it a go for sure. We have an owl here that we used to see all the time while out walking around the back park (a tawny frogmouth) but it must have moved on. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have an awesome week. 👍🙏📸

      Scott Tilley Photography cheers Scott thank you for watching. Just crazy luck that Osprey attack took place right in front of me. Gosh I wish I had a fast prime lens at something like 400mm or 600mm. But as you know they’re so expensive. Take care mate look forward to your next video 👍🙏
