Nikon D850 | Bird & Wildlife Photography | 45MP Beast!

  • I used my Nikon D850 for some bird and wildlife photography at a local reserve not far from my house in Queensland, Australia recently. The 45MP sensor in the D850 really does shine in some of these shots where I managed to get very close to my feathered friends. You can see the detail in their feathers, even lice living on them! Hope you enjoy the video.

    I always enjoy seeing your beautiful Australian wildlife photos. The cormorant at 3:10 is shaped like our cormorant here but it has much more color. Heather and I are going to Hilton Head Island on the Atlantic Coast of South Carolina for a couple of days next week. It's going to be cold but we're hoping to get some wading bird photos, egret and heron as well as some coastal landscape photos. Thanks for sharing the video, Adrian. It's always a highlight of my Saturday spending a few minutes in Australia with you.

    Wonderful video Adrian! Loved, Loved all the bird images but especially that black swan being a wee bit shy ;) I haven't seen much in the way of wildlife myself recently since it's been a tad chilly but it's super fun to seeing you out and about in the warm weather. That 45mp sensor is just fantastic in the D850. One of the things I love the most about my Z7 II as well. Cheers and have a great rest of the weekend! 📸😀

    That's a really impressive lake to take photos of birds! I really enjoyed your video! In germany, where I live, we have a lot rivers with little side arms, which offer a great chance to photograph birds. As I want to extend my lens collenction for bird photography , I'm researching on good tele zoom lenses for arround 1000 dollar for my D850 (and D5600). Do you have experiences with the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6? It seems to be a nice lens.

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching - the Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 is an outstanding lens for birds and wildlife. The only reason I don’t use that lens is because I needed a smaller, lighter yet sharp lens for traveling. If I didn’t have my 80-400mm I’d be using the 200-500 5.6.

      It was a mixture of video from three different cameras. Some was from the Nikon D850 (the close ups of birds in slow motion) . Where I was talking to the camera was the GoPro Hero 7, but I now use the Osmo Action camera which I think is better. Also there was some footage from my Sony RX100 MarkIII, but I now use the Sony ZV-1 which is awesome. Hope this helps.

      Thanks for watching Leo. Sometimes you don’t need a high ISO depending on what the bird is doing. I have my ISO set to auto between 64 & 2000. I mainly shoot in shutter priority and adjust quckly if bird is flying (high shutter speed) or sitting on a branch (low shutter speed) my settings can be seen on the side of the photos in video 👍🙏
