These videos are excellent illustrations of a small cross section of the countless CLose Calls that occur literally everyday by novices [I was once there too] who often learn the hard way. After 22 years of experience, you understand why the old timers shook their heads 'til the lessons were finally mastered.

Illinois City, IL. Zip is 61259 and it's in Rock Island County. We manly had the issue in the old pumper truck. It was an early '70s engine. Any corner taken above 25mph had he tipping pretty good. The problem was reduced with the brand new one we bought from Alexis. The biggest thing is that we are dealing with rural roads that more wide open. Nearly every corner you come up to you will see water on the pavement that spilled out of the tanks. It also depends on the drivers too.

Im a volunteer in a rural fire briagde in ripley valley, queensland. As one of the leading rural briagdes in the ipswich area, the first & foremost thing that we have always been taught is safety first. There is no excuse for something like this happening, the public will always be curious so it is our job as either rurals or urbans to make sure that they are safe, which in this case means slow down & beware of all surroundings. The fire isnt going anywhere, Firecom SE would kick ass for that.

If you watch the video again, you'll see that the driver of the second vehicle probably expected the first one to pull up farther, because he was basically performing the exact same turn as the first vehicle. When the first vehicle stopped, the second one had to swerve at the last second to stop from rear ending the first engine. Their drivers need to be in better sync.
However, from the video, I can't tell if its the first or second drivers fault.

@TheHornylittledevil- Fire is the rapid oxidation of a material in the chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products.
The flame is the visible portion of the fire and consists of glowing hot gases.
Depending on the substances alight, and any impurities outside, the color of the flame and the fire's intensity might vary.
Fire in its most common form can result in conflagration, which has the potential to cause physical damage through burning.

B) To all of those Truckies out there who think the ladder apparatus should be directly in front of any fire, It's a single story, fully involved structure. All there is to do now is surround and drown, which is what we Engine crews do best

You see, this is where discretion comes in. If we responded at the speed limit all of the time, there would be nothing left by the time we got there. You drive a bit faster, but you don't take dumb risks.Risk a little to save a little, risk a lot to save a lot, risk nothing to save nothing. Regardless if the incident was right on the corner, they took the turn way too fast. It is stuff like this that is bad driving, and gets people killed.

Actually the first truck pulled up short and the second truck did an awesome job of not crashing into it.

Actually, if you watch this video a couple of times, you'll notice that the second truck is not moving any faster than the first one it was following.
He does need stiffer suspension on that truck, though!

Career or Volunteer dept this is why so many of us get wiped out on duty... pulling up on scene like it's the first call we've turned out... BOTH trucks came in way too hot.
