Initial thoughts on the Ryker
So a few people asked for my initial thoughts on the Ryker.
I guess the first thing to address though, is why the Ryker? For those who don’t know, in a previous life, I have 16 years with the emergency services- I’ve seen and picked up the pieces (literally!) of a few motorbike crashes in that time.
As a result of this experience, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with motorbikes. Always wanted to get on one and enjoy the feeling, but too afraid too.
With a big brother who has ridden pretty much his whole life, and has now discovered the joys of trikes, it got my interest levels way up.
So this is the result! (Thanks Peter for the guidance, advice and coaching).
The Ryker provides me the stability and comfort and a bit more presence (size) on the roads than a 2 wheeler. I’m under no illusion that it’s the other idiots driving their car totally oblivious to what’s going on around them that I need to be aware of, and a big part of enjoying this will be being aware of them and creating space and being aware of what’s going on around me.
I picked this up yesterday at about 4:30 PM from the team at Melbourne Seadoo
and have already clocked up 239km’s!
Enjoying? Just a tiny bit.... 😬🤣
Further thoughts in the video.

A rattle snake lunges at a talk show host and bites him! Maybe the snake didn't like the line of questioning....
How Not To Drive A Fire Truck
มุมมอง 2.2M17 ปีที่แล้ว
What not to do! Too fast, too close! Filmed in Queensland, Australia.
Drive it like you stole it!!
Would a xxl or xxxl helmet fit in it?
… your Ryker came with a shad bag???
I ordered at the same time I ordered the trike.
This only HAPPENED sixteen years ago?
The trucks seen are: Austrilian scania pumper 2001 frieghtliner telesquirt, an imported truck from the USA
Firefighters drive way to fast. That person should be suspended from driving.
As a firefighter/paramedic, this made my heart skip a beat.
Damn it Carl !!!
I think neither driver were expecting the fire to be right there. They were both driving like they had an address at the other end of the street. When the first truck rounds the corner it pulls up very quick and the second truck is travelling too close behind. It was probably all arse that he got around the first truck and likely had little to do with skill. Sometimes things just work out! It doesn't have to mean that the drivers are shit, its their first job driving or that they need to be hung out. Sometimes shit happens. Thats why they are called "accidents" and not "deliberates"
What's the big deal? I used to drive school buses like that. Kids loved it AND they were home on time.
The title should be like, how not to fire up a house/building. The first responders know how to do their jobs, it is the onlookers that create all the drama.
Good job, he successfully avoided a catastrophic collision with his own team truck. Good skill and abilities.
Nah, that is the appropriate response to a structure fire that could become way worse. Also the amount of idiots standing in the road and close to the MASSIVE FIRE is astonishing.
Im first no im fits..aah..oof
no no that IS how you drive a fire truck
We're coming in and we're coming in hot!
Hey when there's an emergency that pedal is in the floor. Gas-brake-gas-brake-gas-parkingbrake
Damn...
This is Australia. The driver was clearly drunk.
On scene like a fuckin boss
This video is one year ore month and 7 days older than me
Filmed on a 1st Gen Hash brown with single focus.
I thought the trucks would run right into the burning house.
I dont know, but personally I feel like that fireman handled that truck like a total badass.
W T F ! those 2 drivers should not only not be allowed to drive again, they should be brought up on charges...
Wasn't expecting lead rig to stop where it did and had to swerve around to avoid a collision.
Fireman are so stupid!
Too late. House is destroyed anyway.
Actually the first truck pulled up short and the second truck did an awesome job of not crashing into it.
Anyone else got this in their recommendation section in 2021?? 😆😆😆
If the driver is good he probably didn't even notice that wheel come off the ground. If you drive vans fast, you will be lifting the rear tires all the time just like that truck did.
you say how NOT to drive, but i see nothing wrong here.... rubber side still down.... shiny side still up....
Liiiikkee a Boss !!!
"Hey, buddy, I betcha I can drift this truck!"
At least they were fast to the 🔥 fire.
Thats exaclty how to...its an emergency
How does this get on my recommended list 14 years later?
On today’s edition of “Random TH-cam Recommendations”
oh, so I guess I’m not the only one then
not great, not terrible
Git er done driver!!
WTH!
Hell I call that he seen it was a #jobtown and he wanted to go fast
looked badsss though <3
The comments though haha
Firefighters are generally poorly trained at handling large vehicles..no CDL required..bout like most RV drivers..
People complain we drive too slow and they complain if we drive too fast. Makes you wanna not go at all
Tell me you havent ran a structure fire in a month without telling me you havent ran a structure fire in a month
Ah firefighters, driving like morons and putting the public at risk.....because reasons.
This guy lifted because he was coming in fast, saw the truck in front of him stopped sooner than he expected and so had to turn more sharply.
Ah, we're just in time.
