- In this video, I talked about six fundamental movements to equip you with the necessary technique to take on difficult pieces!
The movements are:
1. Free Fall
2. In and Out
3. Pop
4. Chop
5. Pivoting
6. Rotation
Thank you.❤
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Thank you for these tips on comfort. After 4 years of good instruction, I’m only beginning to grasps these concepts. Prior years with another teacher resulted in multiple poor habits. Online teaching has opened up a whole new world for good instruction!
Very well done 👏🎹👍
Thank you for all the great input. I'm a professional Karate coach, and former drummer who's recently taken up piano/keyboard as a hobby and it's amazing how both arts relate to what concerns the use of natural body motions, gravitational force and body alignment. I'm even using some comparisons using the piano/drums concepts at my karate workshops since they share the same natural laws.
This is fantastic!! Thank you for sharing!
Additional Information:
The "pop" is essentially a staccato touch. I usually have students practice jumping from the bottom to the top, allowing the wrist to "pop". However, when used in octaves and chords, the motion goes from top to bottom with a very relaxed wrist. The "pop" is to help students feel the relaxation of the wrist.
Thank you 🙏

To give a short answer, think about how you can move your arm in and out fluidly to execute those arpeggios. Your arms should be in a circular motion constantly.
Cool video! Also whats the first piece you played for the free fall section?
Chopin op48 no.1
Thank you so much, for in and out, would you please explain how to do RH going down and LH going up.
