I never knew this existed until just now I had posted Girl on the billboard on my channel this week and when playing it back I saw this pop up in suggestions had to check it out this is very cool now added to my want list
WHY did I never hear THIS on the radio?? Girl On The Billboard and I'm The Girl On The Billboard back-to-back would be SO AWESOME! SHAME on the radio for not doing so!
You know the song “Wolverton Mountain” right? Another Female Country Artist recorded “l am the Girl on Wolverton Mountain” in the early sixties. I heard it on the radio and came home and looked it up.
The ultimate "answer" song, IMHO, was Lesley Gore's "Judy's Turn to Cry," which was a follow-up to her 1963 #1 titled "It's my Party." In "Party," Judy stole Johnny, but in the "sequel," it was Judy's turn to cry, because johnny came back to Ms. Gore.
When Del Reeves came out with this song, I was on route 66 in my 1960 Cadillac eldorado convertable lovin it..I'd love to go back and live it all over again.

Time was, there were many "answer' songs. Jeanne Black did "He'll Have to Stay," and Loretta Lynn's brother did "I Come Home a'Drinkin to a Worn-Out Wife." The latter was by Jay Lee Webb (Loretta Lynn's brother). He was credited as Jack Webb, and for years I thought it was the Jack Webb who played Sgt. Friday on "Dragnet."
The classic answer songs, alas a thing of the past. Can I add Lois Williams to the list with a girl named Sam , Joanne Campbell with I'm the girl from Wolverton mountain and Kitty Wells it wasn't God who made honky-tonk angels. I wonder was the first Kitty Wells answering the wild side of life?
@@stevemiller1203 um… no. I’m just a fan of the girl on the billboard… and I never knew that she actually existed, and recorded a response until tonight.
how have i never heard this before?
Awesome!
Holy shit... I love the old Del Reeves song. I listen to nothing but country and more than my fair share of trucker songs. I've never heard this.
Me to, I was raised on it
Me either!😮

I NEVER HEARD THIS ,,I LOVE IT❤❤ SO THE GIRL WAS REAL LOL LOVE IT
I haven't heard this before , either !! I like it !😊🎉 She looks like Tammy Wynette on the album!
This song skyrocketed all the way to the bottom of the charts.
Great song they should play it on radio. She sounds better than 99.9% of the garbage referred to as so called country music in 2024.
I agree…100%
I think you just insulted garbage👍
@@stevemiller1203this is an old del Reeves hit

Good question 👍
I remember them in the summer of 1965. Back then, old 66 was still pretty much the main road from Chicago to St Louis and L A

I have the record by Marilyn Michael's the exact same melody as tell Laura I love her

What happend to Joyce Paul ??? ❤Johnny From Alabama
She died in 2016 in Roseville, Minnesota, at the age of 78.
@@stevemiller1203 very sorry to hear that she had a Beautiful voice
Joyce Paul died in 2016. RIP one of the forgotten female vocalists of country Pioneer music like Loretta Lynn and Tammy Whinette.
Del Reeves original, she's doing a cover, and a good one,cus it's always sing by a man,I would say she held her ground, sounded great...
