Spent hours with a bike manual, which didn't mention taking tension off the cable first. Watched the first 2 minutes of this and fixed the issue in less than 5 minutes myself. Awesome work. Thank you!
Dude huge shout out for the way you explain this so simple I've seen a ton of other videos that make it so complicated and my bike was still not adjusted right apologize steps and it was adjusted right the first time thanks
Thanks! This is the video I was looking for. Whoever comments negatively about something different, really people, check yourself during this quarantine, bring some hope to the world
I like the way you explain it - you put it very simply (I’m working on a different derailer, on a ‘standard’ bike and it helped me to understand). Thanks!
My problem was bike wouldn’t from 7 to 6 on the rear. Tried the usual. The cable looked tight but as I found it wasn’t tight enough. I pulled it a few mm and hey presto all gears work perfectly.
The screw that sitting on the housing on your rear derailleur called barrel adjuster, and no, not directional pulley, it meant there is a pulley wheel guiding the shifter cable.
Jumping teeth but staying on the same cog usually means the cog's teeth are worn or the chain has stretched or both. Check the cog's profile to see if the teeth look like a shark fin. They should be symmetrical. You can also check if the chain has worn out. If so it will be too long. Look for videos on checking a worn out bicycle chain.
@@rickybooth5902 When I first changed mine it jumped as well. The links stick sometimes but can be hard to find which ones. I just lubed it and kept riding. They broke in. It's been great since then.
@@michaellapierre1244 ok I’ll try I’ve been trying really hard to get this to work and I can’t afford a nice bike so I just buy parts for my cheap Walmart bike trying to make it better because I love riding mountain bike
@@rickybooth5902 Just avoid stopping and then trying to pedal through busy intersections for a while. It drove me nuts for a bit. There must be a faster way to break in the chain though. Otherwise people would complain after a shop does the same repair. Best to you
look close with a flash light and there is a H and a L next to each screw, H is for the high gear adjustment or the smallest gear and the L screw is for the biggest gear or the low gear.
Best explanation! Thank you! I spent a couple hours with another video trying to get it right. Five minutes with your video and I had it fixed.

Very informative video. I just installed the same derailleur and was having issues shifting. This makes it very simple to adjust. Thanks

@@michaellapierre1244 well it was on a new bike and it was a brand new chain. Could it be because I bought the wrong chain

So when the bikes upside down, the the screw on the left the H screw?
Once you are at this step the screw to adjust should be straight forward, the derailleur should be closer the the screw you are adjusting

Now my gears don't shift at all and it's stuck in 7th gear ...
I'm a moron sometimes ... The cable was not in all the way at the handlebar shifter ...
There called limit screws
Thank you sir!
If you’re going to correct someone, at least use the right “they’re”
Yo tengo SHIMANO tourney AD07
Sorry I do not understand
@@electricfatbikecompany7595 , he is simply saying "I have SHIMANO tourney AD07"...That's it, lol
What accent is that?
a fucking accent
Bugs Bunny accent.
You need a bike stand
I got one recently but I honestly prefer to work with it upside down.
Depending on the situation.
WTF, TO cheap to buy a repair stand nothing like a half-ass operation.
