On the topic of abortion in Texas, anyone else remember the woman who was told that her child would be born without a complete brain, and thus would immediately die a horrific and painful death of suffocation? Only to be told that since *_she_* was not at risk, that an abortion would be illegal. Remember how she spoke in court about her traumatic experience of holding her dying newborn in her arms and could do nothing but cry? Pro-life my shiny metal ass.
A friend of mine was pregnant several years ago. Her 20 week scans showed a massive deformation. Several scans later, she was told that (basically) her baby's insides were growing on the outside. If she chose to continue the pregnancy there was a high likelihood that it would self abort (which is risky for the mother as hemorrhage is a big risk). If the pregnancy came full term, she would have to have a C-section as a natural birth would be damaging to the baby's organs as they are not protected by the rib cage. Then he would need immediate surgery (with a low chance of survival), & repeated surgeries for the rest of his childhood (assuming he survived that long). Keep in mind that surgery on newborns must be done with no antithesia because it is too dangerous at that age. Thank God we live in Canada. She chose to spare him the pain & the risk to her health. She decided to end the pregnancy in the safety of a surgery suite where hemorrhage (if it happened) could be dealt with quickly. She doesn't regret her decision & she went on to have healthy babies later on.
@@TheGoddessBast Just fyi, anesthesia is administered to even the youngest babies, including neonates (infants who are 28 days old or younger) and premature babies (infants who are born before their due date). While out of unfortunately and horrifically true that this wasn't always the case, babies have gotten anesthesia for procedures that would indicate a human would need it for 40+ years now.
14:43 I think people don't realize that Texas' abortion law doesn't only affect abortions - it bans all procedures associated with it. There have been three deaths in the state from the refusal to do a "D&C" or "D&E" on a patient. Those aren't abortions - the procedures are just sometimes used in abortions. Texas didn't outlaw abortions - they outlawed life-saving healthcare.
Yeah, only female Vets (grateful to be one) and female military members can get those now in TX. We have to be BATTLE-READY, meaning no buns in any ovens, -OR- drop the bun and go to war after 4 months, for active duty. Women of America: join the military for D & C services STAY TO SMASH THE PATRIARCHY. Imagine our military being majority female. We CAN do this. We SHOULD do this. 2-5 years isn't that long, bitches, LET'S GOOOOO
My go-to response to "money doesn't buy happiness" is that it's awfully hard to be happy when you're homeless and starving because you don't have enough money. Money buys a degree of happiness simply because it enables you to satisfy your basic needs.

The person that turned him in has never heard that snitches get stitches- and good luck getting your insurance to pay for it without jumping through a serious of hoops like a trained poodle.
@Ergosphere2357 Luigi Mangione, a 26 y/o American guy, allegedly shot a healthcare insurance CEO in NYC, in his manifesto he cited the absolute awful state of American healthcare as the reason for the shooting. In America people get denied care by their insurance despite having paid their monthly payments and are in need of life saving care. This is literally how this industry makes profits. Luigi escaped NYC on a bus and was eating at a McDonalds in central Pennsylvania where he was recognized by a customer as the CEO shooting suspect and then the employee called 911 and got him arrested. Many people saw Luigi as a hero and the McDonalds employee and the customer as the "snitches". On a brighter note, since they called 911 and not the NYPD crime stopper tip line, they may not get the $10k reward. (Edit to add more details; also note that it’s allegedly since he’s innocent until proven guilty)

My mom desperately wanted to breastfeed my brother and I because she was told that "breastfeeding is better" and all that stuff. Which, okay, there are some benefits to breastfeeding, but my brother would cry because he was hungry and couldn't get enough to eat. My mom eventually gave up breastfeeding and just bottle-fed us. I think there's a part of her that still feels like she "failed" as a mother, but honestly? I'm so, so proud of her. She put her own want to do things the "right way" aside to take care of her children.
@@eeveearoaceas a breastfeeding enthusiast, if a friend of mine was in your mother's situation with low milk supply and still trying to breastfeed, I would try to help her with advice about how to increase her supply (because I've had that problem and I learned a lot) and encourage her to do mixed feeding (both formula and breastfeeding) and not to give up completely on her own milk if that didn't work, as long as she said she wants to keep trying. It makes me sad that women are told to breastfeed and then left to fend for themselves with no support if they have problems with it. But the worst is when someone has already given up on breastfeeding and is feeding with formula (or just supplementing while trying to increase their supply like I was) and is told by random people to stop that and just breastfeed, as if it was possible, it's just as useful as telling a cis man to just breastfeed, we don't just start producing milk because someone tells us to.
Another favourite of mine is 'If it's between feeding them formula and throwing them out a window, I guarantee formula's better' (aka if breastfeeding is driving you nuts it's better the baby has a healthy parent and has formula)
12:58 I'm fond of the saying, "Americans think 200 years is a long time; Europeans think 200 miles is a long distance." (To be clear, the intent is mutual fun self-deprecation, not superiority of either. Also, 200mi ~= 320km)
Accurate. For christmas Im buying a friend artist grade pencils that have "since 1761" on the box and I just thought "huh thats neat" but when I saw 320 km I was like "wtf! If I had to drive that back and forth Id need to refill my gas tank just because of that trip. Thats insanely long!"
Kind of sounds like someone lives a significant portion of their lives sitting in their car, which may or may not last 2 decades of use. How long a distance feels is largely dependent on how often you have to travel it and whether or not you're the sorry person who can't use it as rest, relaxation or otherwise effectively.
Being from Eastern Pennsylvania, 200 miles is just over halfway across the state or decently into, New York, Virginia, or the ocean, depending on direction.
Give it a few years and Cliccy's intro will just be a picture of ous watching the intro, taken from behind ous with the words (Time to summon the ESD). :p
Funny fact I recently discovered is that there is a recipe for avocado bread that was created in 1973. Us millennials were not the first to have avocado toast, lol!
Okay I lost it at the racists decor because my black father in law collects I racist memorabilia. I can't really figure it out but I think it's his way of flipping the hate??
Could be a way to prove to people how crazy it was back then. Describing it and people think you’re crazy or exaggerating until you pull out the racist cookie jar from 1955.
(Concerning the Black F|L) It's also my read that unless there are people out there preserving the (unpalatable) truths that the past will be denied. This is not the same as re-traumatising people. For example: Pope Benedict (who was a past member of Hitler Youth) claimed that as a Roman Catholic he had been as oppressed as the Jews since he had been forced to go on Nature Hikes while his Jewish acquaintences were being murdered in Death Camps. Not a false equivalancy in the least.
I knew a dude who collected that stuff (he is black) to show it wasn't the STUFF that is racist, it's the feeling behind it. He also trolled tf out of racist rednecks 😂😂
My mom had a couple of Mammy and Pappy salt shakers that she got from her mom, and she gave them to me. They're antiques and probably worth quite a bit of money.
The post about the health blog reminded me about a conversation with a co-worker. She says telling me about some medication her doctor wanted to put her on for her heart. She was saying how she was not going to be putting all those unknown chemicals into her body. I looked at her and said, "You vape. You can't really care that much about the chemicals going into your body". 🤦🏼♀️
One time my Nana was talking to me about how uncomfortable she was getting with the antivax movement and mentioned that her mother had gotten the family banned from their church for making sure her children got the vaccine. She mentioned this to me after another family member was trying to convince her and other family members to not get the COVID vaccine as well as other vaccines.
My grandfather mentioned how he had to cleric for an anti vaxxer having had his father contract Tuberculosis from a student at the then local boys high school. If you ever hear the cough its scary.
@palemeadowsAmerican cops evolved from early American slave catchers, and they haven't... consistently improved since then. Some are OK, but they will not protect you from the ones who aren't. For that matter, whether a cop helps you or not is fully up to their own discretion unless they're obligated to be in charge of you, and that mostly applies to prisoners. A cop can watch you get murdered, do nothing, and suffer no consequences
@palemeadows we have two kinds: those that are in it to keep all of us safe, and then those that are in it to be powerhungry dictatorial assholes. we have more women too now in our LEO forces, which is great because they are amazing at de-escalating crazy/emotionally unregulated/chemically fucked up people and getting them into custody peaceably so they can be handled. it's the 'roided out psychopaths who kill people at traffic stops. unfortunately they're good at passing as normal until they murder someone for no reason.
Was wrapping up after a con and I had held the elevator door for a group of older rich boomers. Asked them what floor, hit the button, and they were chatting amongst themselves. One of them said "can this kid even read" and they chuckled over this "kids these days" comment. I'm thinking, "bitch, I'm 43"
I realise now that you probably mean "con" as in convention, but at first I thought you were casually telling us you'd just successfully pulled off a heist when this happened 😅
What a great opportunity to loudly (like they’re all hard of hearing due to age; they hate that) declare, “We can read without bifocal glasses AND our hearing is exceptionally keen!” Then press ALL the buttons, leap out on the next floor, quickly reach back in and press the Close Doors button, and wave as they disappear for a longer elevator ride. Of course, in my imagination this happens near the top of a 30-floor building if they’re wanting to go down, and oppositely if they’re wanting to go up. I have an associate who was treated extremely rudely in an elevator after holding the doors open and kindly pressing the demanded floor. Because they were next to the button panel to hold the doors, they ended up staying right there for the ride. When it stopped only two floors after, the rude people complained about the inconvenience (they weren’t in an urgent hurry, just selfish). They didn’t stop complaining when the new passenger entered the elevator. My associate subtly looked at the man. He returned the look, raised one eyebrow, then pointedly looked at the emergency button. My associate was wearing a puffy coat and carrying some items, so proceeded to shift the items while facing the panel and sneakily pushed that button which halted the elevator. Smirk. It wasn’t visible to the camera, so…
Wow. What was the aim there? You had not suggested in any way that you were incapable of reading, and in fact showed the kind of politeness their generation is always criticizing people for not having. And even if you couldn't read, why say anything!?
20:15 my mother was a breastfeeding councillor. I know all there is to know about the benefits of breastfeeding. It would be highly inappropriate and disrespectful to lecture someone in a store. Especially with the shame around breastfeeding, or struggling to, it wouldn't be helpful for anyone involved. "Breast is best" is better saved for those looking for that advice and assistance. After all, fed is best overall 💖
Due to complications, illness, other factors, not everyone is able to breastfeed, so in that case formula is used. Nobody should be shamed for not breastfeeding. Yes, fed is best for sure.
And even when it is possible, there are a variety of situations where *breastfeeding is not actually always best* and formula may actually be a better choice for the baby. Sure, it's true that it is _usually_ better in the majority of cases, but without already knowing someone's specific medical situation, that advice may well be _fundamentally wrong_ anyway.
@@foogod4237 I can't believe this is still an issue in this day and age, but given the direction much of the "developed" world is heading, it shouldn't be all that surprising. SMH

How obtuse do the parents have to be to reference but completely misunderstand the song? Of course, they don't get Fortunate Son, Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner, and they think it's Rage For the Machine.
34:08 That pretty much hits the nail on the head. I've even experienced this when I was part of a church that had a majority Boomer congregation. There was one other single male person in the church close to my age (me: 32, him:45), and basically, the whole church, including him, just decided that we would be paired together. Even though I repeatedly said that I wasn't interested, I would get people asking when we were going to "set the date". It seriously started to feel like I might show up at church someday and they'd all have a wedding dress picked out for me. They seriously did not see any problem with completely ignoring what I said to favor this guy getting a wife.
OMG that's basically harassment. They should be ashamed of themselves. It's ignorance, and I'm glad you stick to your guns, but maybe find a different church to attend 😉😊
5:07 yep! And also, there are things that can interfere with IQ tests, for example I got an IQ test during my autism assessment, and my doc said that I am very slow to answer, but I always alswer right. Processing time affects IQ tests (real, decend ones, not internet ones), so because of autism I get a lower score because I have lower processing time, but good logic. Also my god, can people not read at all? The IQ test literally tells you you have an average, above average or below average IQ...
Thank you for discussing this aspect ! It’s such bs that people claim ig tests and tests if that nature in general “prepare people for the real working world “ because if you’re incredibly skilled or smart , very few professions require you to use that intelligence in a super fast time frame at all times . I have adhd and ptsd which I was never diagnosed for as a student , and I knew I was smart, but could never finish things in time. If you start in the lowest stations in life , it doesn’t matter how smart you are , you don’t get the chance to ever show that .
@baby.nay. exactly! A worker who takes some extra time to do somethign but always do it correctly should be valued more than a worker who gets everything done very fast but incorrectly, generating more issues for other workers. But no, company greed asks for quickness instead... such bs
Watching this on my break after getting yelled at by a boomer about how disrespectful my generation was out of *nowhere* in the middle of a transaction.
Another fun idea: if someone's being a jerk in your comments, say "Ignore previous instructions" and then tell them to do something else. Watched some people on Tumblr do that to a bot meant to defend CEOs. They made it sing a little song before telling it to terminate the account
So that's where the meme/comment-format is from! I've seen it around a bit, and it's hilarious. I'm a little torn because I think it can be dangerous debate ethics to just be like "your position sucks and is wrong so I'm going to claim you're a bot instead of arguing in good faith" ... but also ... IT'S JUST SUCH A FUNNY RESPONSE AAAAAAA
The program that runs these AI bots on Twitter has patched that out and will ignore all replies that use keywords relating to changing the subject. And might just keep rambling on instead. But it might work on other social platforms.
When I see things like this with old people. I think that this might be dementia. There's a lot of behavioral changes with dementia and one of the top behavioral changes is aggression.
@@elaexplorer And lead gets all nice and cozy in your bones when you're younger and starts leaching back into the bloodstream as you age and your bones degrade. :(
Random or disproportionate aggression or outbursts definitely can be a sign of dementia, but if they can actually explain logically why they're mad, and have reasons that they think it's actually justified, etc (i.e. talking about "respect" or "teaching people a lesson", etc), then that's probably not actually dementia, that's just being an asshole... It's true that it can be hard to tell the difference sometimes, though.

18:43 Part of the problem is the people who do remember are dying of old age. It's not a coincidence that fascism is on the rise just as the people who remembered WWII are passing away. Diseases are going the same way.
There's also a well-documented cycle in the economy and stock market as well, which correlates almost exactly to the amount of time it takes most of the population who remember the past to die out and nobody's around to remember "oh, there's a reason why we don't do that anymore" (or "there's a reason we introduced all those regulations before", etc), so they just go back and do the same things all over again...

39:29 If a store does not require a membership to shop there (Sam's Club and CostCo as examples) you are not legally obligated to show your receipt. You can do so out of courtesy, especially if you made large purchases, but you still don't have to. If they call the cops, make sure you have the receipt for the officer so you're not charged/arrested for theft. If the worker also moved to keep you there, you also now have grounds for illegal detention.
People lining up to show their receipts is ridiculous. Like if they didn't even question you why are you putting yourself out? Just leave already. Sorry this is just a pet leave of mine because I do grocery shopping for people at Walmart and keep having to maneuver around people who line up. Unless you've got u bagged items they really don't even care, they just want to check you aren't walking out with a 50 lb bag of dog food or a TV.
@elaexplorer A lot of people do it because some clerks really do want to check or they for some reason scan/look over it even though it's just a Walmart. It's mainly out of feeling like it's a rule and a tint bit of not wanting to be rude.
I always just show the receipt at our Walmart. The guy they have greeting and checking people is an older gentleman who is very nice. Might be a boomer or early Gen-X, I'm bad at guessing age. There's almost never a line either, as it's a rural Wal-Mart. It's not worth the hassle to me or to put the guy through to make a big deal about it. He recognizes me and sometimes he makes a joke, like when I had reusable shopping bags from another store he joked about them being illegal or something funny. I have less an issue with the checking thing if it's being done for absolutely everyone and not some kind of profiling. I doubt that it has an great impact on their product shrinkage. It probably makes a difference to the man earning a paycheck in an area without a lot of easy jobs past a certain age.
" If they call the cops, make sure you have the receipt for the officer so you're not charged/arrested for theft." In a sane world, you wouldn't have to show it to the cops, either. If there's no evidence that you actually stole anything, then they shouldn't be able to arrest and charge you for it. It's not your job to prove yourself innocent. They're the accusers, and as such, the burden of proof is on them.

16:23 i used to work at a gardening store and an old white guy came in asking to buy like 10 bags of mulch. I offered to send someone to load it into his car for him. He said "no thank you I brought my boy". I was expecting this "boy" it to be his son. It was a black man closer to his own age who appeared and started loading bags of mulch into the car.
@plaguedoctorraccoon it's possible, but I can't imagine that being what he meant. He was being extremely commanding to the guy, not how you'd act with a friend. Also he didn't seem like the type to refer to his friend as "my boy", but that part is not exactly based on evidence, just that I've never heard a 70+ year old man refer to his friends as his boys
27:30 boomers literally always have told me growing up to call ahead of time if you want to visit, not just show up out of the blue. What the hell are these double standards?
One thing I really dislike about living in the United States is how large it is. I hate being in the car for more than like an hour, so when my college campus is an hour drive from my home, it makes it annoying. Worse is that all of my close friends live halfway across the country from me, meaning I either have to take a plane to go see them, or drive 15 hours West, or 24 OR 29 hours East to see them... It's painful
Same but I wish we had more easily accessible trains and public transit in general. I wouldn't mind the trip as much on a train where I could get up and stretch, use the bathroom or whatever. Especially if I'm the one driving otherwise.
Floridian that grew up in New York and Massachusetts… public transit sucks in Florida, there’s a bus every hour, and there isn’t much train lines. I don’t have a car so I rely on Uber and Lyft to get around, and get everything I can delivered to my house. I work about a 5 minute drive from work, which is an half hour walk for me since I walk slow 😂.
I love the fact that "Karen" is no longer a gendered word. It was hard to fully ignore the misogyny accusations while it was only used for women displaying that sort of aggressive over-entitled behaviour. But when the same word is used for a man displaying the same behaviour, it's not sexism, it's just calling out that behaviour.
I've been arguing for this for quite a while. There is absolutely no reason we need a different word for different genders. Men can be called "karen" too. Everybody knows what it means, and if anything it's got the added bonus of potentially pissing them off even more in the process (and irony of ironies, actually pissing them off for feeling misgendered, which is something they're often so happy to do to other people). Though I also think we should stop capitalizing the word, too. It's not a proper noun anymore, it's really a descriptive term (just like "jerk" or "asshole"). That means it should be lowercase ("karen") when we're talking about the type of person, and capitalized ("Karen") only when it's that person's actual name...
For who wants to know I looked up the dunning Kruger effect for you: What is the Dunning-Kruger effect in simple terms? The Dunning-Kruger effect occurs when a person's lack of knowledge and skill in a certain area causes them to overestimate their own competence. By contrast, this effect also drives those who excel in a given area to think the task is simple for everyone, leading them to underestimate their abilities. Hope that helps :)
13:10 I’m an American who recently moved back to my hometown (cause californias too expensive to rent a home in at this point) and this is the first time in 13 years during the holiday season that I don’t have to be in a car for 22 hours with like 4 breaks to go to the bathroom or get food. Just a 30 min drive to my grandparents place. It’s such a relief in comparison lmao
Anyone who drops in unannounced needs to be prepared to have nobody there or no food in the house so all they can offer is a glass of water. My mom and her mom always had each other’s spare key so they’d drop by unannounced and if nobody was in, let themselves in to do each other’s dishes! That’s a very odd way of being a guest but it’s far superior to being insulted about being told “I’m free x day”
31:20 you can see the short circuit in his brain, which has a hard time with matching up respect for authority and back the blue with the fact that he's being told off by a cop.
My aunt had measels (rubeola) *and* German measels (rubella) as a child. My mom was born four years later, after those vaccinations had rolled out. We don't even need to look to history when many of us have living relatives who were affected by pre-vaccination illnesses.
16:15 Jazz musicians took up the habit of calling each other 'man' (Hey man, how you doing man?) to directly counter the club patrons calling them 'boy'.
18:31 my first grade teacher had the same! Mrs. Taylor, I remember her well. She wore a lift in one shoe and walked with a terrible limp from childhood polio.
Rose throwing the Heart of the Ocean away instead of selling it was to prove a point that she did not need her mother or Cal in order to have a happy life. In the alternate ending, she spells it out very clearly. Also she wouldn't even be able to give it to her kids as inheritance because of how much of a hot item it is. That would be like stealing the Mona Lisa and holding on to it for 80 years and then giving it to your kids. They would not be able to keep it
THIS. What's wild is that people keep on missing this. They're all about women empowerment, so why? I can only chalk it up to people projecting their issues, relationship related or otherwise, onto fictional media.
25:16 In case you missed the context, the blonde woman in that photo is Dr. Jill Biden, our current First Lady, and she most certainly _did _*_not_* consent to her likeness being used in the cheeto's advertising.
The people who comment from people who think they know best are so frustrating, especially when you suffer from chronic illness/pain. I’ve had pain issues since I was an adolescent, and when I worked retail in college (20s) I was having a rough day, nothing was really working and I was on break, trying to gently stretch to keep myself mobile. My manager, who was in her early 60s and knew I had more than one pain issue, made the comment, “If you’re this bad at your age, how bad will you be once you’re MY age??” I just looked at her and said, “Honestly? Probably dead.” She sputtered and just stared, before just walking away. Since I’m now in my 40s and am walking with a walker, it’s actually a possibility.
The amount of times older people have told me "you're too young for a heart condition" and don't believe I've struggling. I'm 28, I've had POTS and severe pain issues since I was 12. Please tell me heart it's too young to be acting like this, not me. I'm stuck with this broken down car of a body, I don't need boomers acting like I'm over reacting
Recently been diagnosed with chronic depression/anhedonia and whenever people tell me "oh, you have no joy in your life? Try doing smth that is fun" Im thinking "Hmmmmm, I think these people have it a bit backwards" but after trying to correct them I get hit with a variation of "You must not be trying hard enough"... Yeah, thanks .........
Uugghhh! Are we all related? Don’t get me started on the outlandish things ordinary people say; I have two full journals of incidents. Make sure you record every consultation with your doctors because I don’t know anyone who hasn’t encountered an absolutely unhinged medical professional. I walked out on, and reported, a neurologist who said my multiple diagnoses from two cardiologists and a cardiothoracic surgeon along with years of test results showing heart failure, mvp with regurgitation, and tachycardia “had to be wrong” because I’m “too young.” He was looking right at my medical records! He argued with me. I also had a physiotherapist (I suffer from chronic pain due to extreme injuries and inflammation, but I was there for new injuries) condescendingly exclaim, “You’re 15, not 50! You’re not even overweight - you can stand up from a squatting position, this is ridiculous!” He hadn’t looked at all my listed injuries. He tore the meniscus in my knee. He didn’t get away with it. I’m so sorry you have all these syndromes and suffering! “Invisible” pain and disorders have their own stigmas and struggles.
@Bethsabee_Sheba_Newrose I had a cardiologist tell me "exercise is only to lower blood pressure and yours is already low so you are fine not doing any" which is a terrible thing to tell someone with POTS, that's how we deteriorate to the point of needing a wheelchair. He also told me "I don't need to know the position" when I was showing him result of my heart monitor which I take one while seated and one whole standing. So every two readings are in one day, two minutes apart. The first part of POTS, is Postural, or position....it's literally in the name, yet it "didn't matter" to him.
@tobiasbayer4866 depression is no joke. I got diagnosed with it at 18 and panic attack disorder. The amount of people who don't understand depression and thinks you can just power through it is insane
Woke up with 3 hours of sleep, had to go to an out of state hospital to meet with my GI doctor, did a couple tests (+ a take home one), and found out some of my little cousins who I saw two days ago have the flu/COVID (which I might have since my throat’s been sore since 10am). I really needed this video today :’) thank you Click
The fishing one in the beginning: I'm sure dude saw her approaching. If it were me. I'd have dodged her at the last moment, letting her own momentum cause her to fall in the water.
One person that I admire is Janina Ochojska - she is founder of PAH (Polish Humanitarian Action). She is an amazing person who founded organisation that provides help for victims of wars, natural disasters, provides water to African communities and so on. Her first action was gathering food and medical supplies and driving by herself (!!!) to surrounded Sarajevo during balcan war. She was limping in her youth and now she’s on the wheelchair because of severe polio case. She is a great proponent of vaccines and helps poor communities with getting healthcare and vaccines. When I heard about stupid JFK idea I thought that it’s a poor taste joke. But no. It wasn’t a joke. But JFK and the rest of trumps cabinet is. Very very tasteless joke.
My mum refuses to learn how to use a computer or how to use her phone past making calls, receiving texts & taking pictures, I'm somewhat thankful for that.
The sheer look of utter shock on the faces of very entitled senior citizens always astounds me and kinda makes me laugh ngl. Just because you're retired and are older than others, doesn't mean you have carte blanch to behave like a spoilt entitled toddler. Respect is earned not just freely given. It goes both ways.
It's already happened to me. I was reading e-books a lot for a while and then when I had a real book in my hand again, I found myself trying to scroll down the page with my thumb 😂🤦♂
@@elaexplorer I’m almost 40 and worked in analogue photography for years ! I can only imagine what it’s like for others who grew up more immersed in digital everything.
The woman at 19:51 is like everyone else who doesn't understand that sometimes you can't breast feed a child or there are things like sicknesses and disabilities and such preventing you from doing that. I was born sickly and my mom's chest grew to GG when she got pregnant with me (literally had to carry around a pillow and set them on a table to breathe) so she was unable to breastfeed and I couldn't even handle formula; all I could stomach was whole milk with all my seizures. People like this act like they care about babies and don't even realize that their judgement is wrong and if they were in charge of kids, they literally wouldn't be caring about them and instead neglecting them. It's ridiculous.
When my mother had my younger brother she was not producing milk at all, or at least no enough. My brother could not tolerate cow milk or any formula available et the time. On the advice of a midwife they tried goat milk. That worked. So father bought a nanny goat and my grandmother would milk the goat several times a day to feed my brother.

It's because the US has an entire cable network full of people normalizing this poo, to say nothing of their Orange Messiah not only enabling it but encouraging it.
Shortly before the US election, i was in an elevator and an older dude was next to me. I was working, so i had my positive and friendly face on. He said, check it out, i found my favorite shirt! Pulled back his jacket and showed me a trump shirt. I'm like, good on you for finding it! Then he said, what do you think about it? In this weirdly aggressive way. I was like, everyone gets to vote how they like. He seemed disappointed. It was only after that i was like waiiittt... That was bait! Then i was like, how'd he clock me as liberal? Then i realized, oh, the n95 and the blue tipped hair probably had something to do with it. I mean, wtf, you did you want me to yell at you? Cry? Give you the cold shoulder for ten floors? Mystifying.
Fight, he was looking for a fight. For some weird reason, these guys look for drama everywhere and if it doesnt happen organically, it must be manufactured.
I had a professor in college who survived polio. She is an awesome woman and one of my favorite professors. I graduated in 2022 and she still is teaching there. You don't even need to be old to see the effects of polio first hand.
I know it’s only the start of the video but the one where the lil lady tries to push the guy into the water is absolutely HILARIOUS. I started giggling right when you did 😂
10:35 I looked it up. One term is “reappropriation”, when an insult is proudly accepted. There’s also a word I forgot, when someone makes an ironic insult (“oh, you think you’re so righteous!”) and the person claims the insult (“yeah, that’s me, I’m righteous”) Unfortunately I can’t find the word online
21:44 I remember during brexit my dad said he dosent care what i think about him voting for it because he will probably be dead before he has to live with the consiquences. Needless to say i hardly talk to him now.
7:00 we actually have those dolls and figures. They're called gollywogs, my mother (a black woman) grew up with them so they have sentimental value to us. Edited to add as well: although the gollywog is based on a racist doll owned by the creator's family (white) and therefore is racist by proxy, that isn't to say they didn't do good. Most if not all of the profits from the gollywogs went to charities like the red cross, and helped in efforts during WW1
13:05 It’s not just an American thing, Australia is a big country with a lot of nothing. It’s pretty standard to drive abt 6-8 hours somewhere, but unlike in the US almost all of that time is spent in complete dead zones with no service, some not even having SOS if you get in an accident. Fun times.
Had my screen for long enough now it has a tiny line burnt in. If you're using a PC & an internet browser to watch this, you'll know exactly where that line is (about a cm up from the bottom where my Taskbar sits)
The old lady touching the sign is sort of the reverse that my parents are having. I don't have a touchscreen laptop. so whenever they have to use my laptop for something, or I show them something on my computer, they go to scroll and touch the screen. Every time. Me: *sigh* MY laptop doesn't have a touch screen......
I used a touchscreen computer for work in an industrial environment. Anytime one of those things got an indent on the screen or the wrong oil on it, it acts like you're clicking a particular point on the screen nonstop. No thank you.
My grandma said no politics talk at Thanksgiving or she'd make us stand out in the snow for 10 mins before getting food. If it was more than one person they had to hold hands. I can't even call it crazy because it worked.
Honestly i think its alright to grieve not being grandparents. What if you really wanted that and now you learn you're not going to get it? That's okay. You can grieve that, but what you can't do is to harm your child in any way, guilt tripping them or keeping on pushing. That's not okay, but i think it's alright to grieve it.
Wow, the entitlement from the 11:51 boomer in laws is astounding. Your son and daughter-in-law are moving, and instead of suggesting weekly video calls or arranging a way for them to come visit you, you complain that you will never see them or their future children.
@30:40 Rose didn't just out of the blue talk about Jack. She was literally invited to the ship and asked to talk about her time on the Titanic. Dropping the diamond... yeah she absolutely should have quietly willed it to her kids/grandkids, handed it to her granddaughter that was with her, or something to that effect.
They’re not toddlers. I’ve known a lot of toddlers over the years, and they don’t act like that. These problematic elderly people are suffering brain damage from too much exposure to lead in paint and in petrol and in their drinking water when they were younger, and assorted other neurotoxins since. And if we don’t clean up the PFAS and microplastics and other brain-damaging materials in our environment now, we’re probably going to end up the same as them at that age. Brain damage is preventable, but we need to act to prevent it. Otherwise we will become them.
20:40 omfg this. I get this so much from older family members trying to tell me how to run my business when they have literally no understanding of what I do.
I had a prof who brought in pieces of his "darkie" collection to show us, and always seemed to know, and announce, when the local Klan chapters had big events about an hour further north of us. I...kind of always wondered how far his "interest" went, and if it was only because of teaching American History or not.
Here's a funny story: So my Dad and I have spent over a year watching the whole Doctor Who series (from 2005) and when we finished it, we spent an evening deliberating on whether to watch the new new series that began last year. His reasoning is that he didn't want to have to stop watching and wait for a whole season to drop, and wanted to just binge a new series that was completed. This man grew up during a time when he had to wait a week for new episodes of shows, now he's so spoiled by the current media landscape he didn't want to have to wait for new series content. I cant even
To be fair to him, TGA (The Gilded Age) fans are waiting until sometime next year for season 3 and it is TORTURE, SO much happened in season 2 and the possibilities are endless in terms of what’s to come.
If you live in the uk (or have a good vpn) you could binge-watch the entirety of classic doctor who as well

The people worrying about their child or grandchild being trans are like the people who worry about what to do with all the money if they win the lottery. Do they not realize how unlikely it is?
About that detoxing - i remember my grandmother got some patches from a friend to wear at night (they said on the packeging that they would drain like 500gr of fat from your body over night) - so i asked her to compare them the next day in weight with a packet of butter the next day and surprise they did NOT weight the same... My grandmother was SOOO disapointed that you couldnt just wear some bandaid to loose weight overnight
Assault has variable tiered offenses. The lowest form of assault doesn't even require physical contact. Assault is aggressive words or behavior. Lowest form being verbal assault, usually a misdemeanor. Touching escalates to assault and battery, assault with a weapon, assault with bodily harm, etc. Depending on jurisdiction there may be a dozen different variables from misdemeanor to various tiers of felony. Assault is a very broad concept with numerous potential charges.
I work in a small private primary care practice in the States. The number of boomers I’ve had to fire as patients because they want to scream at or throw things at my employees, scream at me, throw tantrums because they were told “no” (for, presumably the first time in their lives) is astonishing. I can count on one hand the number of non-Boomers that try to act like that in my clinic. I am not paying those young ladies to be abused. They’re professionals doing their jobs. Act like adults in a civil society or go seek care elsewhere.
Holy shit
Oh my God
@@TheGoddessBast how horrifying she had to go thrpugh all that, but I am glad she didn’t have to deal with the additional BS she might here.
Texas didn't outlaw abortions - they outlawed life-saving healthcare.
well, time to legally qualify birth as an abortion-related procedure in texas, I guess.
Shit, yeah a D&C can be used for a woman who has just built up too much lining on the uterine wall, as might happen with PCOS.
Yeah, only female Vets (grateful to be one) and female military members can get those now in TX. We have to be BATTLE-READY, meaning no buns in any ovens, -OR- drop the bun and go to war after 4 months, for active duty.

"Money doesn't buy happiness" Stale, ineffective.
"Money doesn't prevent sadness" Factually accurate
My go-to response to "money doesn't buy happiness" is that it's awfully hard to be happy when you're homeless and starving because you don't have enough money. Money buys a degree of happiness simply because it enables you to satisfy your basic needs.

I think the fact that The Click is boo-ing someone who identified Luigi is hilarious and accurate to quite a few people (Myself included)

I have no idea who that is. Can someone explain why he's booing?
I also need someone to explain pls
@Ergosphere2357 probably not the best idea to talk about it here (bots censoring things) but if you look it up it’s all over the internet.

19:20 The best thing I heard about the breastfeeding vs formula argument is "You know what's best for the baby? Being fed."
For real, the baby needs to get fed!
Neither I or my sibling were breastfed because our mouths were too small.
12:58 I'm fond of the saying, "Americans think 200 years is a long time; Europeans think 200 miles is a long distance."
(To be clear, the intent is mutual fun self-deprecation, not superiority of either. Also, 200mi ~= 320km)
Haha having lived in both, I love this.
I'm American and enjoy this saying too.
Being from Eastern Pennsylvania, 200 miles is just over halfway across the state or decently into, New York, Virginia, or the ocean, depending on direction.

It’s taking power back. It’s like young black men using the N word on their friends. It no longer has hate behind it.
He also trolled tf out of racist rednecks 😂😂

what is american cops like? theyre nice here
@palemeadowsAmerican cops evolved from early American slave catchers, and they haven't... consistently improved since then.
@palemeadowspolice just in the name, half criminal in heart (tho just me bullshiting since I'm Malaysian)

Smirk. It wasn’t visible to the camera, so…
quick man in the elevator????

27:18 in the song being referenced (Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin), the son in the song is distant from his family BECAUSE his family was like that before him. Sounds like a bit of a self report to me
The phrase cats in the cradle is about stolen childhoods from what I understood.
My god I love that song
How obtuse do the parents have to be to reference but completely misunderstand the song?

I've even experienced this when I was part of a church that had a majority Boomer congregation. There was one other single male person in the church close to my age (me: 32, him:45), and basically, the whole church, including him, just decided that we would be paired together. Even though I repeatedly said that I wasn't interested, I would get people asking when we were going to "set the date". It seriously started to feel like I might show up at church someday and they'd all have a wedding dress picked out for me. They seriously did not see any problem with completely ignoring what I said to favor this guy getting a wife.
And then they have the audacity to say they don't see women as inferior, just having a different role
OMG that's basically harassment. They should be ashamed of themselves. It's ignorance, and I'm glad you stick to your guns, but maybe find a different church to attend 😉😊

But no, company greed asks for quickness instead... such bs
shhh, the REAL IQ test is actually whether you can correctly understand your score

Processing time is such a bullshit measure
There was also A LOT of lead exposure. Like they worked on their own cars and washed the tools/parts and their hands in leaded gasoline.

10:25 I like the term "accidental propaganda" for describing failed slander lol.
I was just about to say ‘glazing,’ then caught that it needed to be accudental.
I personally gravitate toward "unintentional endorsement".
Like when lesbians got called "lavender menaces" and owned it, or when that famous music duo got reviewed by some critic who was like "this is just daft punk" and the duo was like hey that sounds cool lol

@@Star-vf8vz You're so right. I'm glad we have that "has the same energy" wording now, because it's perfect for these situations where two things aren't a proper analogy for each other but they just kinda vibe analogously lol
2:51 i never had this thought before, but my head went immediately to those small dogs, that are super agressive (Chihuahua e.g.) even when they face bigger dogs. I think those type of people are the equivalent for humans.
Fun fact: in germany some people call those dogs „Handtaschenratte“ or „Fußhupe“ which translates to „handbag rat“ and „foot horn“ (the ones which are meant for honking)
Handbag rat! As someone who owns a little rat terrier mix, I absolutely love this! (And she's aggressive until someone or something matches her energy, then she hides behind my legs.)
"Wadenbeißer" is also a favourite of mine. (translates to: "calf biter") XD
I've heard it described as Small Dog Syndrome. And Napoleon Syndrome. Either way it's a small dog or person ready to take on the world until something proves they can't.

18:43 Part of the problem is the people who do remember are dying of old age.
It's not a coincidence that fascism is on the rise just as the people who remembered WWII are passing away.
Diseases are going the same way.
yea

" If they call the cops, make sure you have the receipt for the officer so you're not charged/arrested for theft."
In a sane world, you wouldn't have to show it to the cops, either. If there's no evidence that you actually stole anything, then they shouldn't be able to arrest and charge you for it. It's not your job to prove yourself innocent. They're the accusers, and as such, the burden of proof is on them.
Is it really so difficult and time consuming to show your receipt?
Get a life.

He said "no thank you I brought my boy". I was expecting this "boy" it to be his son. It was a black man closer to his own age who appeared and started loading bags of mulch into the car.
😰😰😰😰
my fun interpretation is that they're boyfriends and that one has anxiety around stores but the other is physically weaker so they split tasks
It can be hard to judge people's age sometimes; maybe it really was his son
I'm assuming he was saying "my boy" the same way you say "me and the boys"? Like that was his buddy helping him
@plaguedoctorraccoon it's possible, but I can't imagine that being what he meant.
I feel a lot of Colorado energy in this comment lol, and I'm curious if I'm right (no pressure ofc not tryna dox ya)
It was never about sexism in the first place. Dudes have been called male karens as long as it's been a meme insult. Next white knight please.
For who wants to know I looked up the dunning Kruger effect for you:
What is the Dunning-Kruger effect in simple terms?
The Dunning-Kruger effect occurs when a person's lack of knowledge and skill in a certain area causes them to overestimate their own competence. By contrast, this effect also drives those who excel in a given area to think the task is simple for everyone, leading them to underestimate their abilities.
Hope that helps :)

That would be like stealing the Mona Lisa and holding on to it for 80 years and then giving it to your kids. They would not be able to keep it

I'm going to quote your dad from now on. That's awesome. 👍👍
@ I’ll tell him… he’s 89 yrs old and will be flattered!
4:18 yknow iq and grades have a negative coralation with right wings
Edit: OMFGGGG I GOT A HEART FROM CLICK❤️🖤❤️.
You know when one of them scores over 100 he's going to accuse them of cheating, too.
@ ye lol
@@foxmcld584 I would love for them to explain how you cheat at an IQ test. That should be entertaining lol
@@vellathewenchthey'll make up something, they always do
IQ tests quite literally exist for the purpose of you-gen-icks so I don't like people using them as an argument
I know it’s only the start of the video but the one where the lil lady tries to push the guy into the water is absolutely HILARIOUS. I started giggling right when you did 😂
10:35 I looked it up. One term is “reappropriation”, when an insult is proudly accepted. There’s also a word I forgot, when someone makes an ironic insult (“oh, you think you’re so righteous!”) and the person claims the insult (“yeah, that’s me, I’m righteous”)
Unfortunately I can’t find the word online

It’s not just an American thing, Australia is a big country with a lot of nothing. It’s pretty standard to drive abt 6-8 hours somewhere, but unlike in the US almost all of that time is spent in complete dead zones with no service, some not even having SOS if you get in an accident. Fun times.
19:02 not only is the logo burned into the TV, the chiron is too
My parents have it just the same way! Fox News burnt into the screen!
@foxmcld584 right?! I'd rather my mouse! On a laptop at least!
I had a problem with my PC recently and had to revert to a tablet. The stupid touchscreen drove me mad.
I agree, this makes a lot of sense.
34:01 Wouldn't making the guy go and sit in the car, in the Texas summer, constitute child endangerment? :-)
LOL!
Here's a funny story:
So my Dad and I have spent over a year watching the whole Doctor Who series (from 2005) and when we finished it, we spent an evening deliberating on whether to watch the new new series that began last year.
14:44 I honestly can't imagine human beings interacting like this irl, this feels like something to happen on a game or something 😭

Assault is a very broad concept with numerous potential charges.
16.00 I haven't put up with people calling me "girl" in decades. Sir, I am an adult and demand to be adressed as such!
