Nick killed it with his performance. This is the wildest he ever drummed.
This is what Nick Mason could have done had Floyd been more of a standard hard rock band. All in all though, he was the right guy.

I love this type of bass tone where you can actually hear it in the mix.

True story, I never was a big Pink Floyd fan...
I mean, I enjoyed their music when it came on a jukebox at a pool hall.
I just never bought an album, and just was not aware of the depth of their talent as a true fan...
10 years ago, on a trip to Italy, my girlfriend and I went on a tour to Pompeii.
We gave ourselves 1 hour to wander around ourselves... I naturally went to the coliseum, stood in middle of it, and began to wonder of all the souls of the Pompeii, and wondered if they could ever hear all the tributes given to them over the years, and felt a presence...
The youtube algorithm sent me this video about a month later when I was home, and I am now a True Fan!

When Pink Floyd got funky, Nick Mason always found the perfect groove. He always found just the right groove for each and every song. He has some monster drum fills too. He's so underrated!
I am so happy that a continuous version of the Pompeii performance exists in the Early Years. Meaning that you can listen to it on any streaming service, or if you have the box set. It sounds great.
