Thanks for the video! Nice to see some old fashioned talent. It is too bad a younger generation is not being taught to rebuild these engines. I love my 8v92ta. If it needs anything, I will call on you guys!
I love my silver92 as well I take it out on Saturday nights to pick up the back trailer of our road train. We have to break the trains up around 100 km from Brisbane to run them in a single's
5:31 was those cylinder supposed to be insert in dry? I am not a mechanic, but I believe they were supposed to have an interference, no? In my understanding, that’s why they freeze the cylinder sleeves before insertion.
Based on the Detroit Diesel service manual the liners should be fit and installed without any lubricant, however you must make sure the cylinder liner and the block are clean or free of any dust.
@@leonlemgruber2119 the liner can be installed that way we a bit more of push, however we polished it so it can slide easily, not all liners are made perfectly round.
wrong hone for this job...will not correct out of round nor will it give a uniform size,,,,a sunnen rigid hone is the right hone,or equivalant...i never had to go through this much work installing liners....
Many thanks for the upload. These engines still have a following. The toughest engines ever made in my opinion.

But what keep it from moving inside the block?
@@leonlemgruber2119 the cylinder head holds it down....these dry liners are a hand press fit...no tighter or looser

Thanks for your comment, however the hone is more to polish than to remove material.
Look the nursing home has a sweat shop.
That block needs to be bored.you won't get proper heat transfer if too loose and if too tight , rings won't seat and you will do the job over.
