The DC2 / DC4 are 2 of the few gems in Honda's repertoire. They are the only FWD cars that I honestly respect. The other 2 greats are the NSX and the S2000.
Yeah, they are moving, but remember that the roads are trees right up to the ditches on both sides, so you get the impression they are going even faster. In north america, you have to look really hard to find road with that kind of growth anymore. Most places have the brush and stuff cut way, way back.
Yea man, I love my 2006 Acura RSX Type S, so much power the car is begging me to go fast and she handles corners like they are not even there. Nice video, beautiful car, HONDA RULE!!!
i can understand why a majority of street racers in the past (and current) would prefer to tune up a Honda such as the Type-R's and SiR's due to being cheap and easy to maintain but most of all the close gearing ratio, amazing rpm range, lightweight chassis and excellent handling makes it so much fun for daily street use
Havent any of the fwd haters ever seen the 600 hp race golf go around the track ya it udersteered under power but its still seriously quick through the turns he was lapping every rwd car there.
Ive driven a Type R & it depends on the environment and condition its in. On dry surfaces rwd have significant advantages, on wet surfaces fwd are able to get away from rwd. Its all referred to this thing called "Traction". Its a known fact as well.
@ITFxTurbo About the integra 300bhp Engine wise I have an aemv2 induction kit ful mugen exhaust system toda cams and bigger valves engine rebuilt and ported and polished, upgraded the fuel and oil pump got a new skunk ecu and vtec controller bhp at the wheel was 285 and the exterior of the car carbonfibre bonnet and carbon front arches, al the anti roll bars in the doors were stripped out the elecrtric windows were replaced with normal manual ones back seat ripped out and carbon boot
Vtech definitely kicked in. Japanese cars are amazing to me. I like the American classics and German cars too. But I guess each of these cars have their own purpose.
I own an Integra and I love it. That being said they don't really drive different than any other FF sports car. My Integra handles pretty damn good though, it's a fun car through the twisties. Preludes are sick but I prefer the smaller lighter chassis.
te rwd cars can always win because they can drift the corners as the drift king Keiichi said, "drifting is not only the fastest way around a corner..."
Here in the US, I see used USDM Type R's going from $10,000US if "ok" and as much as $25,000US if in excellent condition. Same with the JDM R. Roughly, they average around $15,000. So, if you can buy a Type R really clean for $2,000US, then I would say that is an absolute steal! But you have to look at resale value and the different currency rates. You guys may have a different understood economic price range for these Integra's. Greets from Georgia. :)
@High4Times20 JDM FD2 have 225 bhp in Type-R vesion, Mugen RR have 245 bhp, and Mugen RR tuned have 2.2 K20A 265 bhp. All these cars are stock, and you can buy it. DC2 is great car and it's fast as hell mostly because is lower from stock, lighter and have very good suspensions from stock. JDM DC5 Integra also in Type-R version have 225 bhp. Other DC5's ITR's have 200 bhp in EU, US.
@High4Times20 There's several version of K20, from 200 bhp (US, EU, UK), to JDM K20 (225, 245, stroked 265 bhp). K series are very good, 4 times voted for best engine of the year. Alo more powerful K20 versions are called Frankenstein K24, and biggest K24 stroker 2.6 tuned by ALL MOTOR (Team 1320).
...tons. The Cobalt SS isn't turbo'd anyways it's supercharged but properly tuned NA motors have quicker throttle respone and more balanced powerbands.
@winter338 and its not all about technology, they're reflexes are incredibly fast and it still takes a tremendous amount of skill to drive an F1 car. did you watch the top gear wear Hammond tried to drive one
@High4Times20 B18C JDM is about 200 hp in Japan, and 195 bhp in EU. Tuned B18C is probably 210. B18C is much, (i think 2 times less expensive than comparable K20 225bhp.) I agree. Also doing swap into ITR with K20 is extra expensive, and you wont get much much better performance, agree.
Oops. Guess I made an ass of myself there. I live in Ontario, Canada, and there are so few roads with that kind of growth anymore, I automatically assumed that it is that way everywhere. There has been a huge push to widen even lightly traveled sideroads with brush cutters. I really miss those old, winding narrow roads. I should have known better. Sorry about that. LOL!
just found out my boy has a real champ white boosted jdm type r, omg it was so sexy I am so jealous I had a boosted jdm type r swap but not actual type r so needless to say I was drooling all over his car I wish I had the cash to buy it off him I would buy a cheap ass beater just to have that at home to take out on the weekends
@SuperStomTroop Yes the 00 Acura integra type R it's one of the best fwd cars. Honda also has the 00 prelude SH and the Japan 02 Honda integra type R. But I'm sure there are other really good if not possibly better handling cars out there that are fwd.
1US$=91YEN(NY Dow today). dc2 1999model 3k(3,000) miles on it. costs 880000YEN.which means 8 grand US abt. from the used vehicle search on msn japan.one of 158 results displayed.(dc2 R only)
It's not just the handling but the B-series are just an overall superior motor than the H-series. Also ITRs were rated 1 in some things and preludes in the other. Not bashing on preludes, but if you have the money ITR>prelude, if not GSRs or B-swapped civics are great. H22's aren't as reliable and don't take boost well, are heavier and don't have as much clearance.
@ITFxTurbo carbon spoiler 16inch light weight buddy club alloys black wheels with a red pin strip on the outer rim theres one r to video of it up called black integra r cork and you can see about threei think oh and a mugen frony bumber.
@AliasCharles beautifully said!! I drive one and even in 2011 its still an amazing car to drive. Impractical.... but so engaging!! How many cars are there out there that can be competative 10 yrs later?? What car is there on the road 1.8ltrs that can compare??
@eclipsegsx268 : actually, it's because the european & american companies that built their cars have gone into bankruptcy and no longer able to provide major services for their cars which last not more than 5 years...
It was 285 at the fly wheel so your talking about 260 265 at the wheels and i didnt mean ta put ecu i dont have that car anymore im now driving an s6 audi il upload a video soon. Cheers for the comment tough.
go watch The SCCA Speed World Challenge Touring Car series where fwd, rwd, and awd compete at the same hp leveles and then explain to me why fwd usually owns this class. Drifting would only be the fastest way around a track if all the turns are u-turns.
the cobalt ss turbocharged came out in 08 with the 2.0L turbo LNF engine out of the saturn sky redline and pontiac solstice GXP 260HP 260Lbs of tq it replaced the LSJ 2.0 Supercharged engine in 08 because the LSJ didnt pass emissions I know because I work for chevy and I own a ss turbocharged
What? I own an itr, fucking love it; however I dont have much mods done to it. I would love to have it tuned by Phase except for interior, because I like the interior stock
oh well it sounds crazy for me assuming those are used ones... suppose ppl here tend to get rid of their cars when it reach 50,000Km hence theres a huge saturated used-vehicle mkt...and so they are relatively cheaper.. .anyway though i don't see DC2's anymore thesedays she is the only one i looking to!!!
Iv a question...... Iv got an itr ok and its putting out 285bhp at the wheels, Its got a spoon ecu , aemv2 airi intake, skunk 2cams and valves, full mugen exhaust system, lovely new plugs and leads , engine has been ported and polished. Body work carbon firbre bonnet and carbon front wings mugen front bumber all the anti roll bars are stripped out in the doorz How do you get it up to 300bhp at the wheels. LOOK UP BLACK INTEGRA R CORK
well i don't know if the SS trim level drives better than lower ones or which one you have but my buddies cobalt feels much looser than my Integra does stock for stock. I'd say get an ITR but i'm biased haha
@HistoryHmoobGuy well all the ones i know are, cept for one guy but i think hes from canada cuz at the end of each sentence he always ends it with "eh"
It was 285 at the fly wheel so your talking about 260 265 at the wheels and i didnt mean ta put ecu i dont have that car anymore im now driving an s6 audi
@MaryjaneKush sorry man, but i dont think your at 285hp.. the most a b-series has pushed out naturally aspirated was around 240 on race fuel. (b20-vtec) btw skunk2 doesnt make ecu's....
Civics and Integras outperform Preludes in handling for the most part. Stock vs. Stock, Preludes are way too heavy with that H22 for any cornering ability like the Civic. I'm a Civic guy for life, but will have to say ITR has the best handling chassis of all FWD Hondas for now.
one of (if not the best) FWD cars ever made
DC2 STILL ROCKS..........no comment about the legendary b18c..
The DC2 / DC4 are 2 of the few gems in Honda's repertoire. They are the only FWD cars that I honestly respect.
The other 2 greats are the NSX and the S2000.
It's good to find tuned (not riced) small FWD 4 bangers on youtube. There is hope yet...
Nice video, beautiful car, HONDA RULE!!!
the best front wheel drive car ever
i can understand why a majority of street racers in the past (and current) would prefer to tune up a Honda such as the Type-R's and SiR's due to being cheap and easy to maintain but most of all the close gearing ratio, amazing rpm range, lightweight chassis and excellent handling makes it so much fun for daily street use
It popped up in the related video section ---->
So I clicked on it. I love watching touge video's as I have been doing it for 5 years now.
No worries haha... Yea, fortunately we have tons of roads like this to have fun on!
Indeed it is. Not many people understand this concept.
@LOLNestor Great video and presentation. This show captures the essence of this car... In an Iron Chef kind of way LOL!!
Havent any of the fwd haters ever seen the 600 hp race golf go around the track ya it udersteered under power but its still seriously quick through the turns he was lapping every rwd car there.
Touge for life these are REAL drivers
Even for a non-Honda fan that is a sick as ride!
car sounds beautiful
Ive driven a Type R & it depends on the environment and condition its in. On dry surfaces rwd have significant advantages, on wet surfaces fwd are able to get away from rwd. Its all referred to this thing called "Traction". Its a known fact as well.
This is real racing right here at its best FTW!!
You def have a point. I'm not going to argue. If you had an Spoon ITR and Jun Prelude now..that will come down to a driver's race.
I love the integra type r in my opinion its hondas most perfect car
He complains about too rigid suspension, but it's the very rigidity that makes the car corner like it does, which he likes so much hehe
I talked to a guy earlier this year, he had a USDM ITR, 40k miles on it, 1999 model, he paid 15 grand for it.
Personal preference I suppose. Hondas have a certain vibe about them that I love.
I have owned a E30 M3 and a 1998 ITR. Honda does it best. The purest driving experience available.
But I guess each of these cars have their own purpose.
no doubt Honda messed up - as a Nissan fan I've always wanted an Integra. RIP INTEGRA
I own an Integra and I love it. That being said they don't really drive different than any other FF sports car. My Integra handles pretty damn good though, it's a fun car through the twisties. Preludes are sick but I prefer the smaller lighter chassis.
Not to mention Hondas have excellent motors. Efficient, high revving and they last forever.
shit your not the only one who want's that dc2 now
te rwd cars can always win because they can drift the corners
as the drift king Keiichi said, "drifting is not only the fastest way around a corner..."

215hp, 1020kg, sounds like success to me
@High4Times20

damn, thats some nice ass cornering
...tons. The Cobalt SS isn't turbo'd anyways it's supercharged but properly tuned NA motors have quicker throttle respone and more balanced powerbands.
He said its not the fastest way but its the most fun.
And i am probably gonna buy it soon.
the integra is the best handling fwd of all time, the crx is second and thats why I got one
Love the DC2's
another great vid. of a great car! :)
negative camber up front tends to help turn in, not usually a good thing in the rear though.
b18a1 = intergra ls, rs, gs engine. b18c = jdm type r, b18c5 = american type r. you are correct with b18c1 = gsr motor
@winter338 and its not all about technology, they're reflexes are incredibly fast and it still takes a tremendous amount of skill to drive an F1 car. did you watch the top gear wear Hammond tried to drive one
@High4Times20
B18C JDM is about 200 hp in Japan, and 195 bhp in EU. Tuned B18C is probably 210.

Epic setup for a smooth street circuit bet it leaves most fr cars with similar power for dead
Oops. Guess I made an ass of myself there. I live in Ontario, Canada, and there are so few roads with that kind of growth anymore, I automatically assumed that it is that way everywhere. Yes the 00 Acura integra type R it's one of the best fwd cars. Honda also has the 00 prelude SH and the Japan 02 Honda integra type R. But I'm sure there are other really good if not possibly better handling cars out there that are fwd.
@cypress101 He probably just means balanced bottom end, crankshaft so it can rev higher, dunno what else could be balanced...
That don't really matter to me, because I rather do anything than sit at home a watch a 'merry go round.'
I want this car now :)
1US$=91YEN(NY Dow today).
dc2 1999model 3k(3,000) miles on it.
costs 880000YEN.which means 8 grand US abt.
from the used vehicle search on msn japan.one of 158 results displayed.(dc2 R only)
my favorite teg
One of the most.
one day i want to own a intergra type R dc2

thats classy :)
@AliasCharles beautifully said!!

I forgot to say that the ONLY thing the Spec V has on the Type-R is that it weighs slightly less and has more torque.
still has the aircondition. wow
DC2 good car!
dont need torque for a fwd light ass car and its perfect on a track like this
wow, pretty nice... it's no rx7 or evo, but it's amazing for a teggy fwd.
the cobalt ss turbocharged came out in 08 with the 2.0L turbo LNF engine out of the saturn sky redline and pontiac solstice GXP 260HP 260Lbs of tq it replaced the LSJ 2.0 Supercharged engine in 08 because the LSJ didnt pass emissions I know because I work for chevy and I own a ss turbocharged
expensive in america. sometimes 15-20000. but i have also seen for 9-10000.
if ur in the states dont get either one but if ur in asia or europe get a integra R or CTR
dam fast
What? I own an itr, fucking love it; however I dont have much mods done to it. I would love to have it tuned by Phase except for interior, because I like the interior stock
fwd are good. why do people hate on them. look up peugeot 306 maxi rally
he deffently has vTAKKKK inside, thats a nice R
fast type r, but shit what a bumpy ride.
@FullBloodedHmoob they make the best cars too. That why every one drive a honda and acura in new york.
oh well it sounds crazy for me assuming those are used ones...
suppose ppl here tend to get rid of their cars when it reach 50,000Km hence theres a huge saturated used-vehicle mkt...and so they are relatively cheaper..

@HistoryHmoobGuy well all the ones i know are, cept for one guy but i think hes from canada cuz at the end of each sentence he always ends it with "eh"
fantastic car !!! but I can´t find anything else from this car on the web... anyone knows something else of this car or Phase ???
What other FF is worth talking about thats quick in the touge besided the cobalt ss turbocharged
It was 285 at the fly wheel so your talking about 260 265 at the wheels and i didnt mean ta put ecu i dont have that car anymore im now driving an s6 audi
@High4Times20 ok, so how come the Civic Type R FD2 make so many good times around the Tsukuba then?
LMMFAO!
@High4Times20 It was stock and the DC2 cannont compete with the FD2 tho.
Is there a real touge battle with this car anywhere on youtube?
@High4Times20 If that's the case....then why is the K series the best swap for an Honda?
FF Hondas are great
why not? as long as you double clutch it so the tires wont slip...
@MaryjaneKush
sorry man, but i dont think your at 285hp.. the most a b-series has pushed out naturally aspirated was around 240 on race fuel. (b20-vtec)
