*WHO DISLIKED!?* How dare! This is *THE BEST* video you have *EVER* seen on a Turtle, living or in watch form. That thumb better twist the right direction or I'll make it! (I think I'm going to do more public outburst - they add character) OH! By the way, I wanted to know what you guys think of the new video-style? Yay/Nay? Thanks.
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett I've heard dislikes help your channel so i learned to love it 😂 Knowing when the haters intend to hurt you with a dislike and end up helping your channel out gives me so much satisfaction inside 😈 Btw, you should Pin your comment so it would be on the top,👍
Weird... I did *pin it.* I wonder why it got bounced, *hmm...* I'll pin yours instead (nope, can't do that), maybe that'll work. Hahaha, you know what's funny, there was a "Dislike" and it was removed! My little tantrum worked!!!
*Glad to be back* and seriously, slick intro man! Love that Eterna you showcased. I'm rocking my 1970's Eterna-Matic Kontiki right currently. Love the thing.
Congratulation for the new channel! I think this channel will grow rapidly with your good and humble content! Would be nice to see you and Adam on this new channel in the future!
Great to see you back Pat, congrats on the new channel. Sad to see CS&B change/disappear, as I enjoyed seeing you two tour around NYC for various watch-related escapades. I hope you keep that element going in the new channel!
Great to see you in front of the camera again, Patrick! I have a blue dial SRP773, modded with Dagaz MM300 hands. I resisted buying a Turtle for a very long time because I was unsure about a cushion-style case. After finally pulling the trigger, my reaction upon opening the box for the first time was, "Why in the world did I wait so long?" It's hard to describe why the Turtle works as well as it does on so many different wrist sizes, but it does. My wrist is 7-1/4 inches, just like yours, and I find the Turtle to be supremely comfortable and it is nicely balanced no matter what strap I have on it. Right now I've got in on a Borealis rubber Isofrane look-alike strap, and as the weather gets colder I'll probably switch back to the OEM bracelet. Yeah, it's about the quality one expects from a sub-$500 Seiko, but I think it does the job well enough. I am tempted to order a Strapcode bracelet and give that a try. Oh, I have Crafter Blue rubber straps for my Sumo and my SKX and can report that they are The Bomb. A match made in heaven! Alignment of my Turtle's bezel and chapter ring are thankfully spot-on, but my six o'clock index has been applied about 1mm too far to the right. I have a similar misapplication of the six o'clock index on my Samurai. Oh well. I've come to the conclusion that Seiko just doesn't really care about perfection in alignment and it has become almost a guaranteed characteristic of recent production Seikos. Maybe they'll address it sometime in the future, but I have my doubts. Great lighting, good sound, nice cutaway shots -- I like the production values in the video. Keep up the great work! Now if we could get Adam to come to his senses and break away from those yahoos at PW, all will be right with the universe...
+Lee K This makes me very excited for my Crafter Blue, which should have arrived already... Gotta check out that. Yes, there are definitely alignment issues - I didn’t even bother mentioning them - I feel it’s tacitly understood with modern Seiko collectors at this point. Couldn’t agree with you more on the Turtle. Happily a Keeper, every needs at least one Seiko diver. Also, thank you on the production notes! I may make minor changes here and there to make sure everyone’s satisfied, but I’m happy with it so far.
Glad to see you back making videos. You and Adam were great together. Here's to hoping things work out for him as well. You guys were the first watch channel I subscribed to - hit sub for your channel a few days ago. Keep it up!
Good having you back and great review, love the turtle, you need to try the two tone jubile bracelet from Strapcode, awesome match. Have the same beef with the original seiko bracelet, mine fell apart while wearing, since that day I just have my padi in a rubber ... cheers mate
What? Man... I haven't heard anyone talk about that bracelet *falling apart* - I said 7/10? - I may need to amend my bracelet statements, haha. I saw the Two Tone Jubilee, yes! I kinda want one of those new *3D* bracelets StrapCode is making though. You know how everything is better in 3D, right?
Hahaha, okok it is true yours didn't but mine did and every time I hear sth about the bracelet its filtered by my experience, sorry bro. May bad. 7/10 is ok as the quality itself is good, just the way you adjust that thing annoise me a lot and having that watch, newly bought, falling from my wrist was a traumatic experience for me 😢 I love the new strapcode bracelet and agree, 3D is best 🙏🏻🙏🏻😊😊
Patrick!!! It did "Take Time" to find you, but I finally did. Sorry for the bad pun. Someone was nice enough to direct people to your new channel. I just subscribed. Great to see you are still at it. Your content and attitude is always so welcoming and positive. I will miss seeing you and Adam together, but I'm looking forward to watching your new channel grow. The old NY Minute segment was really cool. Maybe you can do something similar on your new channel. There are a lot of great ways to bring interesting watch related content and it doesn't always have to be in the form of a review. I'm sure buying a watch every week can get expensive. That interview with the older gentleman at the swap meet selling vintage watches was wonderful. I wouldn't even mind seeing some tours of NY even if we only see a watch for a few minutes. Whatever it takes. Good Luck to you. Keep up the great work!!! BTW Where did you get the green strap? I'm sure you mentioned in past videos, but I'm too lazy to look back. Does it come in other colors?
Hahaha, I'm sorry about that. "Take Time" is quite a popular title. *Please* if you're also helping to direct folks, *Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett* should yield my page automatically! Should we pick up more traction (subscribers), just Take Time will suffice. No worries, it won't be called NYM, but my vlogumentaries will make a return. I actually have a few slated already... *Speaking of,* the green strap is from Erika's Originals (erikasoriginals.com). Be well and *thank you* for joining me here!
+Junior Bullock I know, I know... I’m sorry man. I didn’t abandon ship, I just haven’t been able to log on whatsoever. All posts/comments have not been from me. Please spread the word: I’m back on Take Time. I know my comments over on my previous page are deleted, and many mentioning me, but I’m sure folks will sort it out. Be well.
Mine also has a gritty screw down crown. I found if while turning crown and gently pressing at same time while screwing crown in it is much smoother rather than pressing down crown then trying to screw down.
Well done, sir. As a turtle lover myself, both the watch and the swimming around kind, I really enjoyed it. You were the reason I watched cs&b and you are the reason I subscribed here. Looking forward to more great content from you. Cheers!
Nice inaugural review mate. I've been a bee's wiener from pressing that buy button so many times now but something always held me back. Massdrop had a good deal going with the J model recently. I dunno... I think I love my 009 way too much (so far it's been excellent on the accuracy and an aligned bezel!) and would feel like I was doubling up. Anyway, I echo the welcome back sentiment! Good to have a host with good screen presence! :)
Yes, four years of acting school paid off! Hahaha, thank you. It's so funny you mention that. I recorded this video twice... *My first take* I actually bring up an old story: I had an SKX009 before I bought the SRP779. I felt like there was a bit of a redundancy to owning both and ultimately took the plunge for the Turtle. Same thoughts as you on the whole matter! They are indeed very similar and it's great that we have both options. Stick with the 009, I actually really miss mine.
Hah! Well we DEFINITELY have things in common... Three years acting school here! (Had a feeling you had prior experience onscreen) How'd you cope with that extra year!? I was scratching the walls to get out amongst it by third year! Yeah, another reason why I stuck with my 009 (J, yes I'm a snob) is 'cause of my 6.75inch wrist. The 009 just wears that little bit better on my wrist. Plus, I've got it on the rattly Seiko Jubilee and I frikkin' love it!
+Kamikazekman Well, I actually switched from a BFA to a BA so I could also take Business courses in a double major... Which made me quit school with nine credit hours to go, haha. Umm, there’s a larger story here, but it’s too much to unpack. Bottom line: you don’t need an Acting Degree to entertain people. Anyways! Yeah, I think the proportions of the SKX00x are the “kindest” amongst Seiko’s current range of divers. I can happily get away with 42mm widths, but that’s as far as I reasonably go, Turtle excluded. *It's perfect*
Very true! At the end of the day it’s just a Uni course... some people put too much stock in going to acting school. But ya know what? It does give you a good foundation for being a TH-cam personality! Hah! Anyhoo... I still might eventually get a turtle but a Sumo or a Shogun most likely! Keep up the stellar work mate! :).
Love my Turtle, luckily my bezel and rehaute are aligned, but the crown is still rough/gritty. Did the floss technique which reduced the grittiness. The "J" version does nothing to resolve this, BTW. Wears small due to the nice lug to lug size being under 50mm. Still don't understand why they place the lollipop on the "wrong" side of the seconds hand...why would I want to know where the opposite side of the seconds hand is when it's dark and I'm relying on lume?
@Popeye Doyle That's exactly what I was implying, in response to this review which seemed to indicate otherwise. In fact, I have the one for the JDM, as at least you and I have expected, no difference.
+hervé Chretien Damn... Did I? Nothing to lose, everything to gain: I love filming. Cannot wait to start shooting the interviews I have slated this month...
Good luck with the channel! Recently came across PW and found it very cool, all of a sudden new style..good that I found you (via Adams video) already subscribed! One thing I would love to see- when you take the measurements, could you add the dial size too, or like the crystal diameter. A lot of watches come in a small size (like the Mühle Teutonia in 34mm for example) but with a very thin bezel, so that the dial is quite prominent anyway (32mm in that example) and the watch looks way bigger. Same thing the other way round. I at least find that info very helpful, but there is no watch channel out there providing it-you could be the first :D
I was on the fence over the SRP777 and 775. Your video pushed me over the edge towards the 775. I love this watch! The gold accents look a lot more classy in person than in pictures or video. Thank you, and good luck on your channel.
Hey brother! Glad to hear I could steer you in the right direction on that piece. I am going to be running some videos soon on modding mine... I'm having so much fun with it, and I imagine keeping it in the collection for a while, so I figured I'd give it some upgrades and visual "changes," reluctant to say improvements here.
Really sad to not see you and Adam on a couch together this time :'( but as is life. Glad to see you back on the horse over here. Excited to see you flourish without the frat bros that abruptly decided to take over Properly Wound. Keep up the great content man!
+DonjonArmory Oh boy, that’s a tough call. First let me state, any time you see a “Best of” Video, the results are always subjective. That being said, yes, I believe the Seiko SRP77x is a better dive watch. It’s a classic reincarnation of Seiko’s third generation diver. They did a marvelous job reproducing these and at a value that’s palatable for new and veteran collectors. Not much I don’t like. Also, third party support for Seiko is far and beyond any other brand.
Great review. The case size and shape wears deceptively smaller than photos or specs would indicate. And, it is a very comfortable watch case to have over your wrist, imho. My srp773 i modded was a strong favorite of mine. I did end up selling it recently. It's a great watch, but i have another Seiko diver and trying to reduce any watch overlap to allow select versatility within the limited watch space I am allowing in my collection. Fyi, between 2, it was a hard choice to sell the turtle and only keep the tuna as my only dive watch. Keep up your continued great work on your new independent channel and best of luck with it.
Oh Wing, you literally commented just then on something I *just acquired* ... I don't want to talk about it till it arrives, but I have a Seiko that's rarely ever seen coming in that I am so excited to talk on. The Seiko Turtle is the only Diver I own from them currently. I thoroughly believe that everyone should own at least *one Seiko dive watch.* It's so good hearing from you again! I missed your commentary - welcome back.
The strap makes so much difference. I really hated the gold one but now it looks very cool with the yellow stripe matching the gold. I just received the blue one yesterday but now I'm already looking for the gold one, thanks Patrick.
Haha, do I detect sarcasm? You're welcome, Sjaak. The strap really does bring this one together for me (probably why I mentioned it so much). My girlfriend *absolutely hates* how this watch looks on the Erika strap, haha. I also think she hates divers in general...
Love this style, i really didn't like the new guys from properly wound. Excited to see things going back the way they were. Hopefully Adam follows in tow
+Alan Shepardson We’ll see, Adam is a member of that group (though it doesn’t appear it). I doubt he has access to the account, so do note that comments will not be from him/or even considered by him before posted. Thank you for joining me here. I wanted to hit 10K Subs by the end of the year. I still feel we can do that. Without a doubt.
Hi Patrick. Congratulations on your first solo review. Hope to see more. I love the Seiko Turtles. I have a PADI and an SRP777 on a Strapcode Super Oyster. While I'm more of a dress watch person, I can't resist how macho I look with a turtle on my wrist. Btw, I wore my 777 snorkelling at the Hawksbill Turtle sanctuary at Apo Island. So, I took the turtle to see some turtles.
Nice to see you doing your own thing Patrick and a great start with this video. I have that strap on my 6309 and I agree it looks really cool. Watchgecko are doing a similar Nato which I may check out too. Can I suggest a different back drop and zoom out a little maybe...looks a little sterile and in your face which doesn't reflect your easy going delivery. Just a thought that's all but I'm sure you have ideas yourself. I'm also unsubscribed on that certain channel and now tuning into yours. Good luck👍🏻
+Andy Froggatt Really? I have some straps in from them for review as well... Loving one of them a WHOLE lot. My *Omega Dynamic* has been living on it actually. *Thank you* for the suggestions! I’m going for a 1/3rd shot, it is pretty tight, but I’m hearing left and right on it. So far as the backdrop is concerned, I have a rather small space to work in (and it’s not just me there): what would you suggest?
because of guys like you I am into Seiko brand. There are things that I like on them but there are things I don't (even though watch geeks go after them like crazy SKX models .... not a chance with me) seen a few vids of you on another iteration. Just hope the new venture will be a a giant leap for you and for the audience. wish you the best of luck
*Thank you* so much for the kind regards. I always love a good challenge. Eight months editing/filming/hosting the previous iteration will not have gone to waste. I hate to think folks are subscribing there for my content though. Only wish I could better point them this way. Also, Adam knows, but I'm heavily considering an all Seiko collection, haha. They pretty much have pieces for every budget: all top notch quality.
Just happened to watch your review. Excellent! you covered this beautiful watch very well. Could I ask what your wrist size is? I am on the fence on the turtle because of the size and your wrist kind of looks similarly sized as mine.
Looking forward to seeing your upcoming review segments and where the Take Time format will go. My 2¢, once you've dialed the format, continuity is key. Would like to see a thorough review of the SARB033/SARB035 with hi res video highlighting the dial(s) and case design. Fill us in on performance, accuracy of the 6R movement and it's lineage or historic importance for Seiko as a workhorse. Opinions...How well does it performs as an all purpose SS Automatic? Per its features would you classify it as a sport, tool(desk diver), dress, or hybrid watch? Is it a design that stands the test of time? What comparable Automatics challenge it with its movement and price point? How comfortable does it wear? Your personal impressions of the watch? Cheers!
Woo, that's a lot for *2¢* - thank you for this! - let's see... I don't generally jump into historical significance, unless it's a piece that warrants it (vintage, modern reissue, current production piece with long-running ties), but will give that a go. I have been asked to discuss some of my vintage pieces quite often and I think some of my less obscure pieces would be great to talk on. I'll employ a Historical Analysis for these. The other note I enjoyed here is the "competing price points." I generally focus on the item in question, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to drop a line for competition. I do prefer to have personal experience with a piece before sending someone elsewhere: e.g. If I have never owned/used a Tissot Visodate, I wouldn't feel comfortable suggesting it competitively. Particularly if it turns on to be trash. I know folks compare the SARB03x with that model often. I'll see about getting a SARB in Alexis!
Nice review Patrick. The turtle is excellent quality, nice case work, feel of the bezel, crown, winding mechanism are very precise surprising smooth and effortless. Fantastic visible diver dial layout. Cant go wrong with it.
+F Poynton One thing I neglected to mention... The line between brushed/polished on the case sides are a little underwhelming. It’s accurate to the original, a subtle shift from brushed to polished, but it lacks a nice distinctive edge. I would have liked that. Only complaint, minor, but still there.
Thanks for another awesome video. I have the 6309 7040 but I'm considering the reissue but I don't know which version. After watching your video it made my decision easier. I'm going for the srp 775j as well. Thanks again and more power to your channel.👍😁⏰
Love the SRP775. I have the same watch. I personally like the bracelet. I know alot of people don't like it but I don't find it too bad. I really like the Erika's nato.
I'm looking into an Uncle Seiko Waffle strap too. I really like those. Very vintage feel to them. As I recall, when my brother got dive certified in the 70s, he bought one of the original Turtles with a waffle strap...I could be wrong about the strap though, it's been a day or two.
Haha, yeah, it may have been. Seiko does some funny things. I believe they were sold stock with a revised rubber strap, but there's no doubt your brother could have wound up with a waffle. I have a 6105 from the early 70's that's on a waffle, but has a *different handset* Purchased from the original owner and he states that the hands were never replaced! So, stranger things.
Firstly, thank you! Regarding the “Baby Turtle” - though it honestly just looks like a rehashed “Sushi” Diver - I’m not the biggest fan of the overall proportions and dial face, but I haven’t had one in person! So I’ll reserve any further comments should that time arise.
I felt the same way... I won't go into detail, but do not expect any more from me over on that Channel. Adam joined that group, and may appear... I don't even know if that's the case. :( It's a sad state of events, but I got a gut feeling it'll work itself out. Please, help share the new channel with others: I was never given a proper send off and any attempts to reach folks on their forums is cut down (that sort of sad situation). Be well and thanks for finding me here.
Thanks for the reply! So, it was CS&B then PW. But then these people say they were always a part of PW, but what, were they behind the camera or something?
No, I shot/edited every video. They did... Nothing, up till now, in regards to TH-cam. Again, message me privately via the aforementioned "Message" tool in the About section.
Great video man.a request- could you please review the Seiko Samurai 2017 re issue? Love the watch and it's a bit of a dark horse with very few good reviews around . Will really appreciate an insightful review of the Sammy.
That is my favorite Turtle. It is really understated despite having gold elements and it fits so well. I agree about bracelet. A little cumbersome. It works well on other straps though and looks rugged. --Michael
It's the best, and surprisingly I see these valued lower than it's contemporaries. Almost always the 775 is less than the 777. Agreed, pairs extremely well with other straps. Speaking of, I need to shoot some reviews on said straps...
I always go back and forth on pulling the trigger on the Turtle (this exact model because I love the gold accents), not because of the price but because I already love my SKX009, so getting a Turtle feels almost redundant (being very close design-wise), and I'm afraid I wouldn't wear it that much after a week. The Turtle has a better movement, but when I'm already so attached my SKX that I wore nearly everyday for work when I worked in kitchens and banged it around on every sharp metal object imaginable, I don't think I could ever part with it lol. My personal choice for the best Seiko diver under 500 would be the second generation Monster with the tooth indices, but the prices for those are BANANAS now, aside from the pvd black models (which are a steal now). So realistically, I would throw a Baby Tuna SRP637/641 into the ring.
That's so funny... I had almost the same conversation with someone else. I reshot this video, but originally I discussed how I felt my *SKX009 would be redundant* alongside the Turtle! Many of the features are realll similar... I wound up selling my own SKX009 as I felt the Turtle was more my speed: Sword & Shield at Twelve, perfect dimensions (for my wrist at least) and *gilt dial.* It has a golden dial... Did I mention it's *Gilty Goodness* yet? It's awesome. I'm going to look into getting some other Seiko's in for review. I actually acquired a model a lot of folks don't know about just yesterday... After I spend some time with it, I'll report back. *Hint* it has a 6r15 movement.
It's actually becoming quite rare, and I had no idea till just recently how special it is... It's an early 1970's Eterna-Matic Kontiki 20, utilizing an Eterna (not ETA) 12824. This in-house is their highest grade of movement, not what was sold from their subsidiary (ETA Group) to other Swiss brands of the time. Veryyy cool piece, found it with box/papers/warranty card.
Glad to be back! Please, spread the word. I know there are a lot of disgruntled CS&B fans... If you see that over on my old channel, please send them my way... Although, I know you just un-sub'd, haha.
My 777J1 says hello. Great review. By the way I had a gritty crown despite the J version but I easily overcome this issue using dental floss. Uncle Seiko's straps pair well. However pair it with the new strapcode SUPER + 3D JUBILEE together with a SEIKO ratcheting clasp and you get the true ultimate diving watch under USD500 ! Oh man!
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett Get the combo I described and you won't regret it. Ask strapcode to send you the bracelet without the clasp, it will save you USD20. Then pair it with the SEIKO ratcheting clasp. This will give you an awesome look and a serious upgrade. Get it !
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett From eBay. Link provided. 6 remaining. www.ebay.com/itm/SEIKO-PROSPEX-MARINEMASTER-PROFESSIONAL-18MM-CLASP-RATCHETING-WET-SUIT-EXT-/302470742623?epid=2228919119&hash=item466ca9425f:g:8JQAAOSwkGVZs2kz
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett sadly I wasn’t a collector when the first star gate came out, same sight he original monsters. I got the star gate II which isn’t as desirable as the first one but I prefer the red seconds hand tip ahaha. The second Gen you still can get for about 300-350 bucks I think I got mine luckily new for 300 about a year ago
Is that so? The major differences were the cyclops and improved movement, correct? I think you have the better of the two. I know a lot of folks wanted Stargates (either variant) almost strictly for modding purposes. I'm not a huge fan of the bezel(s) of those models, but I think the watch looks stellar overall.
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett kind of sad, more TH-cam watch drama. If you were leaving a network syndicated programme sure, but... my guess is the horology drama queens are the minority of the "community" were in. Most of us actually enjoy tangible content where the host shows the watches he or she is talking about. Keep doing your thing, man.
It's sad that our hobby is filled with so many self-opportunists and assholes that would stab their "friends" in the back as soon as possible. What is it with watches that draws these kind of people?
Love all Seiko divers. Hope they revive the Ashtray soon which has the 7C46, the best mechanism a diver could have. Also, looking forward to an upgraded SKX with 6R15.
This goes without saying, but you’ve seen the “SKX” Alpinist models, with the 6r15 movements, correct? It’s been done... We’re all waiting for that. Also, I almost grabbed an Ashtray (silver dial, not the gilt model)... I had just purchased a few other pieces, and the model I was looking at had some wear, so I decided to wait. I would love a reissue of the 7C46-6010/20.
Ya, the SKX Alpinist is nice. Now we wait for the upgraded diver. Will wait for Seiko to reissue the Ashtray too. I used to collect vintage watches 20 years ago. Had some bad experiences and gave up. I have only been buying new ones since. May get back into it in the future if my kids are interested.
Hey, we'll see if they do... It's looking likely, but that model is so obscure. You're almost better off getting the vintage one and dropping in a new movement. It's funny, I'm doing the exact opposite: all my recent purchases have been vintage items. Here's the thing... If I can snag that Seikomatic-P for $70 and spend a little bit to get it working to chronometer grade again, with a total package costing me right at $200? That's a great deal. Also, I refurbish the cases myself, so I have a fun time getting to work on them as well. I can understand though... Truth is, I've had problems with vintage *and* modern though, so I trust both equally.
You have a good thing going on there, and going into Seiko is the right thing to do. I am not a handyman and refurbishing is not my thing, but, I like what you are doing. Recently, I did buy 2 vintage pieces for my wife. A Bvlgari and a Piaget. My wife is more into brands, but, she does have eyes for beauty. There are both indeed beautiful pieces for women. Gold and diamonds, women favorite things. They both look new, so I am happy with them too, haha.. Anyway, I just bought the Snowfrost, sarx055, and, I am going to give my take on this watch on Bruce Wiliams' review which I crossed-reference to the Dragonhead. I think I will also copy it to your Dragonhead review. They have similar talking points.
Sometime back after watching Gerald Donovan's fine collection, I almost got started. I love the VFA heritage and thought I would begin with that. I got Yamato-nadesiko to look for a fine piece for in Japan. He found a grade A piece for me for I think about 7K. But, after looking at the number of watches I have now, I decided not to. Instead, I have decided to buy new watches and pass it on to my children and their children. By their time, they will have a whole collection of grade A vintage, hahaha...
Ha - classic Seiko hand alignment issue :D If you don't get a misaligned chapter ring, the hand alignment is off. But that makes every single one unique.
+rabbit3001 It’s weird, the chapter at twelve is off, but everywhere else it’s fine... You notice? I tend to not care/nor mention, it’s tacitly understood now, but Seiko’s QC is just... Meh. I have three pieces from the 70’s that damn near match the quality level of my Grand Seiko. Madness.
Just fell back in love with mine, I’ve literally never wore the bracelet either . I have it on a vintage leather racing strap( never gonna dive with it , looks great on leather btw )
Hi Patrick! Sad to see what's happening to Properly Wound, I only subscribed to that channel because of you and Adam, because of the dynamic between you two and your awesome personalities that you both brought to the watch reviews. You guys came across as really genuine in your passion about watches, none of that pretense and snobbery. Also, it seems the videos coming out now from PW has taken a hit in quality, I'm guessing because you aren't there, the audio is terrible and Adams new video was taken in portrait mode, yikes! I do hope Adam leaves PW and joins you here somewhere down the line, hearing two different perspectives was nice. I do like this review format but to be honest I prefer your previous format where the reviews were more casual, but that's just my personal opinion. Great to see this channel and I'm pretty sure it's going to grow like crazy!!
just added comment to last pw video I'll watch informing of your new channel take time and not talking time that was stated in video. took me an hour of searching to find your new channel.
+Tyler Hayes Firstly, *thank you* for finding me! I’m sorry it took so long, he didn’t quite get the title right (might have helped). So happy to have you here!
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett I'm considering the 777 for the classic look. I would consider the original model with kanji dial if i could get a really clean unpolished example for a good price. My watch seller in hong kong is telling me there maybe a release of a smaller turtle same as original size soon but I can't find anything online about that.
Holddd up, come again? Another reissue to be more accurate to the original 6306/09 dimensions? That is curious, they were never too far off, but with how successful their "Heritage" reissues have been, I can totally see this happening. Let me know if you ever get an update on that.
You know, I've never looked into Certina... I always thought they were much more expensive. I'd love to pick one up, now that you mention it, or in the least have one in to discuss.
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett yes would love for you to take a look at one if possible, I infact have the DS Action Diver with the blue dial and it’s just all that
The Certina is one hell of a watch. Great (imo) value and i picked 2 up for round 500euros each. gonna sell the blue one cos i have a srp21Padi but the black one is stunning . Great new channel. keep it up and gl. I hope my srp775 will be delivered tmrw morning and i realy hope i like it!
+Fasting For Fitness Hey! Thank you man... I was just talking to a friend about starting a fast, I’ve found my appetite has diminished as of late. I’ll have to check your page (should your suggestive name prove accurate). 👌🤙
Looked at the same watch last weekend for $380.00 on I-Drive. Sears is asking 317.00 for a Pepsi on a rubber strap. Only 2 turtles I have found in Orlando Fl. I really do not understand why I want one but I do. I have a Planet Ocean and a Hydroquest. I really do not need a Turtle.
Haha, I have found that "need" is hardly the reason we're committed to this hobby... It's time consuming (*insert irony*) and costly, but judging by the watches you own, you clearly *enjoy* the hobby. That's the most important part. I have one watch I could wear every day of the week for the rest of my life, but I'm still so passionate about this hobby that I want to experience more. So long as it's within budget and you're enjoying yourself? Go for it.
Yeah, there are a few minor issues with mine: chapter ring (of course), hour hand does not line up with the hour, lines up past the hour, and the bezel isn't neither flush nor provides satisfying action... This last complaint is minor, as it does serve it's purpose, but I'll likely need to bend the click ring back in shape or just buy a new click ring all together.
Great video Patrick! Have to say the old channel was great till you left. Instant unsubscribe and then found your channel and now a subscriber. Your channel will be awesome and take over TH-cam in no time!!!
*Damnnn* Victor, thank you! *I hope you're right.* I've got some fun interviews lined up that I cannot wait to get to. Be well and have a great week brother.
Hi Patrick I just a want say just discover your insight on seiko watch which iam a fan of so I subscribe Love your fashion nice knowing your Pilipino iam as well just love calling honest Explaining what to look for buying a watch it really help us here as a consumer so Can you please do a video on mini turtle because just debating buying between the big brother padi turtle due to my small wrist . I own the original 6309 when I join the navy 1980 I still own it never service it but ever guest what it’s running like new I keep it on my drawer never wear it for the longest time but revive it with Uncle seiko Razor watch band iam proud to have a vintage and a collector diver good rhythm I will looking forward to see it in your new project soon a mini turtle thank you ( Salamat ) I just hit that bell I con for alert ✌🏽👍🏽🇵🇭
Funny everyone is complaining about stamped clasps while 20 years ago everyone was singing halleluja abot the Rolex Oyster bracelets with...a stamped clasp. A very much worse stamped clasp then this, for very much more money....I know there are better ones around (I own a Omega Planet Ocean with a superb bracelet) but I really thing a stamped clasp is not a bad thing. It's strong durable and light....when done well.
I was ready to pull the trigger but the bracelet felt like a tin can cheap and weird too bad the watch looks retro and solid but not the bracelet. Love the od green nato strap
+artificialingredient It’s a rather long and disappointing story, you could message me personally about it, but otherwise know that no such changes will happen here.
*WHO DISLIKED!?* How dare! This is *THE BEST* video you have *EVER* seen on a Turtle, living or in watch form. That thumb better twist the right direction or I'll make it! (I think I'm going to do more public outburst - they add character)
OH! By the way, I wanted to know what you guys think of the new video-style? Yay/Nay? Thanks.
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett I've heard dislikes help your channel so i learned to love it 😂 Knowing when the haters intend to hurt you with a dislike and end up helping your channel out gives me so much satisfaction inside 😈
Btw, you should Pin your comment so it would be on the top,👍
Weird... I did *pin it.* I wonder why it got bounced, *hmm...* I'll pin yours instead (nope, can't do that), maybe that'll work. Hahaha, you know what's funny, there was a "Dislike" and it was removed! My little tantrum worked!!!
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett I got a dislike on the shout out video, maybe i should try your *Tantrum* method and see if it goes away 😂
Yes! That's the only way! Haha, tell me if it works.
They may have disliked because of the dreadful tinny sounds at 5:44, you know it upsets them.
Welcome back dude! glad to see you on TH-cam again. PW has not been the same.
*Glad to be back* and seriously, slick intro man! Love that Eterna you showcased. I'm rocking my 1970's Eterna-Matic Kontiki right currently. Love the thing.
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett love the kontiki man ! Glad you like the intro as well. Looking forward to more uploads form you.
Congratulation for the new channel! I think this channel will grow rapidly with your good and humble content! Would be nice to see you and Adam on this new channel in the future!
It would be. Till then, you're stuck with my goofy mug, haha.
Keep it up!
+Jerome Triplett Thank you Jerome, that means a lot to hear! Be well and thanks for the sub!
May bad. 7/10 is ok as the quality itself is good, just the way you adjust that thing annoise me a lot and having that watch, newly bought, falling from my wrist was a traumatic experience for me 😢
I love the new strapcode bracelet and agree, 3D is best 🙏🏻🙏🏻😊😊
I subbed your channel even before watching a single video. Welcome back! Can't wait to see more.
Hahaha, ohhh boy, I hope I don't disappoint! Be well and enjoy the retrospective review. #TurtleLove
Hi Could you tell me which camera did you use to record this video ? Thanks
Panasonic G85 👌
Here you are! I wondered were you'd gone?
Not a fan of the other channel without you there.
Be well.
I have the exact same gold turtle K version and absolutely one of my go to seiko. Keep up the good work. Feed us with more of your videos
Will do 👌⌚️🙇♂️
Mine also has a gritty screw down crown.
Cheers!
+Matthew Stoll *Thank you* brother. Much appreciated.
Seeing wrist shots from a little distance (and in a context) is something I really miss on other watch channels. More of that!
Nice job, Patrick. Glad to see you are keeping things going on your own.
+mpikers Yeah! I learned a lot over the last *eight months.* So happy to be producing content for you guys.
Yeah, historically too... It'd be nice to have the meatball on the proper end.
@Popeye Doyle That's exactly what I was implying, in response to this review which seemed to indicate otherwise. In fact, I have the one for the JDM, as at least you and I have expected, no difference.
where did you get your watch wallet......I looked thru your videos but there was no mention of it
Man, you kind of look relieved in this video, as if something was holding you back before. Keep on the great content.
+hervé Chretien Damn... Did I? Nothing to lose, everything to gain: I love filming. Cannot wait to start shooting the interviews I have slated this month...
Your new channel is great, man. Keep it up
+William Edwardovich Thank you man, that means a lot to hear (read). Be well and have a great week!
Do you think this is a better dive watch than the Glycine Combat Sub?
+DonjonArmory Oh boy, that’s a tough call. First let me state, any time you see a “Best of” Video, the results are always subjective. That being said, yes, I believe the Seiko SRP77x is a better dive watch. It’s a classic reincarnation of Seiko’s third generation diver. They did a marvelous job reproducing these and at a value that’s palatable for new and veteran collectors. Not much I don’t like. Also, third party support for Seiko is far and beyond any other brand.
You might have just convinced me to get a turtle.
Great watch review... But cool shirt!! Where you get that?
Thank you! I believe this shirt is from Uniqlo
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett No sarcasm I like it as well!
Hahaha, that's awesome. Did they recognize it as one of their own?
They don't even look at the humans. They just mind their own business munching on sea plants.
glad to see you back! subbed for sure
*Thank you*
I bought this watch last August in a heartbeat. Keeping it forever.
Great to see another review. I love the 775 and especially with the Miltat two tone Jubilee.
How is that bracelet, by the way? I really considered getting it, but I thought it would be overkill. You like it?
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett Oh it's great... not too much gold. Great fit and very comfortable.
What do you think is the smallest wrist size that this watch would work with?
This is my purely opinionated response: *6.5"* could get away with it, not much less than that.
JF schnell What's wrong with the skx? Which Seiko's do you prefer? Or what diver do you prefer in the ~$200 price point?
Just happened to watch your review. Excellent! you covered this beautiful watch very well. Could I ask what your wrist size is? I am on the fence on the turtle because of the size and your wrist kind of looks similarly sized as mine.
Hey, thanks for watching. My wrist is 7.25"
Turtle is a great watch, the only thing I would change is the size. I am on my third now, my favorite is the black one.
Third time's the charm with these, haha. I was very much up in the air on the 775/777... They're all great though.
Ok a bit of confusion. Didn't know why the other channel changed people and style. Glad I found you again. Good luck with the channel. Subscribed.
Yup, I was confused too. Nice of Adam to plug me though. Thanks for swinging by kman!
Love my turtle PADI the accuracy and fit on wrist is great .
I’m glad to see you doing reviews keep it up .
+TIMEFORFUN Thank you, glad *to be back!*
Hi, where did you get your leather roll from?
If it's the model I'm thinking about, stay tuned for tomorrow's episode.
Yeah, Erika's been getting a lot of love recently, I may talk her up myself.
Hey Patrick love your videos any thoughts on the new "mini turtle" models?
Firstly, thank you! Regarding the “Baby Turtle” - though it honestly just looks like a rehashed “Sushi” Diver - I’m not the biggest fan of the overall proportions and dial face, but I haven’t had one in person! So I’ll reserve any further comments should that time arise.
What the hell happened to properly wound? One second it's Patrick and Adam and the next, it's cofounders and ceos? wtf?
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett well you were the reason people tuned in tbh. The rest are complete twats
Great review!! Gonna get the turtle this weekend. 777 or 775?? Help me decide please and thank you. 🐢🐢
Also where is a good place to buy this watch online? (Chapter ring + bezel aligned aligned)
Congrats on the new channel. Great review, concise, detailed and clear delivery. Keep it up. Subscribed.
+Christian Burns Thank you Christian, much appreciated!
Great video man.a request- could you please review the Seiko Samurai 2017 re issue? Love the watch and it's a bit of a dark horse with very few good reviews around . Will really appreciate an insightful review of the Sammy.
Hmm, I'll look into it for sure. Wouldn't mind talking on it. Just need to acquire it.
Great video. Thanks for taking time to share with us.
Can you see my eye bags? Haha
Don't gilt trip me!
A 6r15 that is overlooked? Hm.. that's a tough one.
Hi, I'd really like to know where you picked up the green strap?
That, is an *Erika's Original* and they're awesome. Look up "Erika's Originals MN Strap," should yield the strap for you.
I'm wearing that same exact watch while watching this... I love it..
I had and sold this one and regret it. Definitely a potential rebuy for me. Awesome vid:)
Yesss, join the Seiko Side. #Seikoholic (ps-just bought a Seiko twenty minutes ago, one that's seldom seen...)
Looking for another Turtle, when I have it in my sights this one comes along.
Great video.. Seiko SRP turtles.. 70s Seiko are good.
+Steven UK1 70’s Seiko = *Best,* for me at least.
Good video, subbed.
by the way what watch are you wearing in the video?
It's actually becoming quite rare, and I had no idea till just recently how special it is... It's an early 1970's Eterna-Matic Kontiki 20, utilizing an Eterna (not ETA) 12824. This in-house is their highest grade of movement, not what was sold from their subsidiary (ETA Group) to other Swiss brands of the time. Veryyy cool piece, found it with box/papers/warranty card.
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett Nice I hope you make a review of it. I actually own a 1960s Eterna Matic 3000 deLuxe version love it

Wow good to see your back in TH-cam Pat. Not seeing you and Adam reviews in PW made me un-sub PW. Glad to have your insights in time pieces again!!
Glad to be back! Please, spread the word. I know there are a lot of disgruntled CS&B fans... If you see that over on my old channel, please send them my way... Although, I know you just un-sub'd, haha.
I agree. I just subbed here and unsubbed from PW. Those guys rub me the wrong way.
Oh man!
+Inspector I’m love to get that combo in... I’ve been thinking about purchasing the “3D” Oyster Bracelet for review, thoughts?
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett Get the combo I described and you won't regret it. Ask strapcode to send you the bracelet without the clasp, it will save you USD20. Then pair it with the SEIKO ratcheting clasp.
This will give you an awesome look and a serious upgrade.
Get it !
+Inspector Where did you source the MM Ratcheting clasp from?
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett From eBay. Link provided. 6 remaining.

*Grazie*
I still like the Seiko star gate a bit more haha. Great review though!
I've never experienced one. They're going up in price now. Which model do you own?
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett sadly I wasn’t a collector when the first star gate came out, same sight he original monsters. I got the star gate II which isn’t as desirable as the first one but I prefer the red seconds hand tip ahaha.
The second Gen you still can get for about 300-350 bucks I think
I got mine luckily new for 300 about a year ago
Is that so? The major differences were the cyclops and improved movement, correct? I think you have the better of the two. I know a lot of folks wanted Stargates (either variant) almost strictly for modding purposes. I'm not a huge fan of the bezel(s) of those models, but I think the watch looks stellar overall.
Properly Who?
Hahaha, not *this guy* I'm as *inappropriate* as they come 😈 (hold tight for future videos)
plevine81 they're actually deleting comments on their videos where people are asking about Patrick. It has begun...
+Matt Ashe I figured as much. I tried to reach out and tell folks to join me here, but... Yeah.
A domed sapphire is a much larger upgrade than I would have guessed.
I bet. I haven’t worn mine for a bit. Looking to modify it a bit actually...
Damn, I must be late to the game. I can’t find one for less than $420... most are trying to sell for $525+
bought mine in a department store for $450
just added comment to last pw video I'll watch informing of your new channel take time and not talking time that was stated in video. took me an hour of searching to find your new channel.
+Tyler Hayes Firstly, *thank you* for finding me! I’m sorry it took so long, he didn’t quite get the title right (might have helped). So happy to have you here!
I also love the turtles, have the 775, Padi and Zimbe and tempted to get a 4th
Whoa! I thought I liked the Turtle. What other model were you considering? Would you ever go for the vintage one?
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett I'm considering the 777 for the classic look. I would consider the original model with kanji dial if i could get a really clean unpolished example for a good price. My watch seller in hong kong is telling me there maybe a release of a smaller turtle same as original size soon but I can't find anything online about that.
Holddd up, come again? Another reissue to be more accurate to the original 6306/09 dimensions? That is curious, they were never too far off, but with how successful their "Heritage" reissues have been, I can totally see this happening. Let me know if you ever get an update on that.
Top-tier review, homie.
welll an extra $50-$100 there is the Certina DS action diver ;), but this is a great watch
I hope my srp775 will be delivered tmrw morning and i realy hope i like it!
aha...this is where you've been hiding. Unsubscribed from one and subscribed to another ;) Another cracking video. Keep up the good work dude 💪🏽
+Fasting For Fitness Hey! Thank you man... I was just talking to a friend about starting a fast, I’ve found my appetite has diminished as of late. I’ll have to check your page (should your suggestive name prove accurate). 👌🤙
Great watch and a fantastic value. Enjoy it in good health. (I don't mind the stock bracelet, I give it a 7.5 out of 10).
Totally enjoy and appreciate your reviews. M
+Martin Moore *Thank you!* Glad you’re enjoying the content.
Go for it.
@@TakeTimewPatrickMarlett what is that one watch? if you don't mind :D
I think the bezel action is luck of the draw. My 777K1 bezel sounds tinny compared to an SKX but the action is smooth.
Cool review, I'm not sure how I feel about the name "Gilt Goddess," hope that one doesn't stick.
+Schoenzy Hahaha, that’s my own personal nickname. Doubtful it will, but I’ve got my fingers crossed.
Properly wound is unwatchable now. Happy to see you do your own thing.
Nice work!!
Good video dude
I also have the j-version😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
I have one and the sizes are differents of yours...

I’d love to get a mini in, but you have the real thing! Treat it well and it’ll last another lifetime. Salamat, thank you for watching. 🤘
The army green strap ruins it. Needs a nice jubilee.
Nice watch. I have one and I was thinking of selling it. I have doubts now. Keep it up.
Yes you made your own channel!! You rock dude. Those other guys sucked. No offence..
Thanks brother! Yeah, new channel, better quality and more stuff, haha.
No, Thank U Patrick for the time! The turtle isn't my cup of tea, but i enjoyed the review.
Hahaha, thanks brother. Glad to hear it! I'll see about getting your cup of tea on soon.
Try running waxed dental floss through the threads of your watch, it should get rid of that gritty feeling.
I've heard about this trick. Have you personally tried this one? I'd love to know how effective it was.
No I read it on the forums. Never owned a Seiko, although that may change with the SPB051
What a great watch, saludos desde Madrid España
I was ready to pull the trigger but the bracelet felt like a tin can cheap and weird too bad the watch looks retro and solid but not the bracelet. Love the od green nato strap
That "odd green strap" is in review tomorrow, so stay tuned for that! Also, it's *not a NATO,* it's better.
Why are vineyard vines mouth-breathers ruining your original channel? :|
+artificialingredient It’s a rather long and disappointing story, you could message me personally about it, but otherwise know that no such changes will happen here.
