Xperia XZ2 in my pocket now. I think it's amaze me. feel different from other android phone

moving from my lumia 1520 to this phone it looks like a lumia has all of the buttons on the side including a camera button and its in a pillow shape like a lumia so its a win win for me and it has android

I had the Z5 Premium. The biggest problem was the battery life. Currently I have the XZ Premium. Better battery life and faster charging but still the battery could be better. Therefore nice to hear that the battery life in that XZ2 is so good. All in all, I have been very satisfied with Sony phones and think that their phones look better than the others. More masculine somehow.
Seems like Sony went for great usability over everything. Very handsome handset

Always had sony..love the xz2..listen, people will always find something to gripe about, its impossable to please everyone but i personally think its a cracking phone and does everything i want it to..great phone

I've always liked Sony and their designs. They just look better to me. I've had 2 Sony phones and they've both been great. Never had an issue with Sony. At the end of the day, the small differences between the latest smart phones are so small that most people won't even notice - I think it mostly comes down to your experience with the brand and loyalty. Sony have been good to me, so I'm happy to return the favour by sticking with them - even if on paper they aren't what the critics say is the 'best'.
Using Sony Xperia XZ2 almost a month. Didn't found anything bad except slippery glass back. Sony just packed a beast inside the phone. 😍 😍
Omnibalance was not present on the XPERIA X, XZ, or XZ1 series. That design language was called the "Glass Loop Surface," and it stood out among the other flagships. Sure the bezels could have shrunk, but the XZ2's "Ambient Flow" design language is just awful by comparison.
Have the black one and looks like an alien designed phone. Simply amazing

me too, i'm thinking to replace mine with xz2. i mean, one ui is ok for me but the battery life is horrible, can't stand it anymore. hope this thing will suit me for daily driver.
Am I the only one that likes the design? I own an S8 and I honestly wish I had this, it looks so compact and premium. The reason why I love this sexy design is because the old ones were just too simple and boring.

It doesnt work at all when the phone is in your pocket unless you have wired headphones with integrated microphones, and if it works it will ruin your sound. For true noise cancelling, you should take a look at the MDR-1000X or other models from Sony. Massdrop sells the MDR-100ABN for 170$ sometimes.

Instead of choosing the S9 (which has a headphone jack, IP68 water resistant, great camera, no side bezel,...), you'd rather choose the Sony? Why?
Because it only lacks the headphone jack. The rest of the specs are really good, it has a better design and a better UI than the S9 in my opinion and updates are way faster on the Sony.

I chose the XZ2 compact instead.
Love it.
Phone doesn't slip around at all, doesn't have the gimmicky dynamic sound thing.
Wireless charging technology is still not optimized without a sighnificant power loss, so am glad that the compact doesn't have wireless charging.
Would've liked it they kept the omnibalance design forever

i find this ugly, and i think the design on google pixell 2 (which is ugly aswell) are better. and the quality? g.pixel 2 would rape this phone.

The big bezels,no quad hd with a 800$ price tag, no AMOLED and the weird fingerprint placement are a deal breaker.

Ankit Sen first of all I'm not your "bro". And secondly there's nothing better than a Samsung AMOLED in the whole world wide market of screens. My mother 's S7 edge puts the pixel 2 XL and the huwaei p20 to shame, in the matter of displays.

I've had the Z3 and Z5 (both compact) and i have been hooked to Sony ever since. I think the software is great, their cameras are always fantastic and they feel premium.
I have been looking to get a new phone now and after this I'm set on the XZ2. I do have to say I'm a little disappointed they moved the finger print scanner, i always thought the side mount was far more comfortable than any other phone but we'll see how this performs. the headphone jack is a major downer for me especially since my car doesn't have Bluetooth.
I got myself one, and I'm loving it.
Did a direct hands-on and comparison of XZ2 (Compact) and S9 today.
The S9 felt smoother and more comfortable to hold, while the XZ2's case seemed quite slippery. The compact version of it with the rough back felt wayyyy better.
What surprised me though: you can actually edit the capture time of your images to kind of sort them (since Sony doesn't like to include an "Sort by name" feature >_>).
This aspect is driving me away from my current Z1 Compact where image or video batches get torn apart solely due to different dates in their properties...
Didn' look for this on Samsung's edgy flagship.
Not sure why Sony felt the need to make their phone look the same as their competitions. All they needed to do was eliminate or minimize the bezels on the classic xperia design 🤔

If and when you do buy the P20 Pro, how is it? I'm so tempted to buy one, but idk if the tradeoffs are worth it (e.g. I absolutely hate their skin... really pricey too, and also not to confident in buying a phone with a processor that is significantly slower than the current 845 most 2018 flagships use)

its better than the s9!!! camera is better(dont check the reviews from channels like phonearena or supersaf..everyone know they are biased..the battery is better(than the s9..not s9+ but 150 cheaper!) the screen is really good! so yeah its better than the s9!and for the case..u are telling me that u are gonna buy an 800$ phone and u are not gonna put a case? u wouldnt put on s9 or the p20 right? dude plz..!!! if samsung had put 1st the vibration mode or the 1080p slow motion u would have all gone crazy..but sony did that 1st and u act like its nothing!!!

As an Xperia fan I was moments from upgrading from Xperia Z5 premium to XZ2. However, my gut told me to hold off for the XZ2 Premium. Here's hoping they have done some magic with the premium as I want to stay with this brand.
I like the Omnibalance design because it was simple with no tricks

Hey bro..very nice review on the phone. but I must admit , that your computer monitor caught my eye. What type of monitor is it? I'm currently looking for one and I love the one you have.
HDR recording is at 24 fps, that is the "shuttering", so isn't a problem.
I am using a 5.5 inch smart phone and i noticed that it offers a larger and better viewing experience than 6 inch 18:9 phone. I will stick to 16:9 display phone when i buy a new one. 18:9 is only nice to hold and nothing more.
I ended up buying this phone last year, partially because this video. He's really not kidding when he mentions it sliding around on its own. I can't imagine not having a case on any phone. If I do take it off, in the case of installing a screen protector, it loves to slip around on the table. It's especially flighty on fabric. It even has difficulty sitting still on my Qi charger. Like I said, it's a non-issue as a case solves it, but it's still amusing.

Xperia XZ, despite being flatter than XZ 2 was more slippery than XZ 2. I used one for over 1 year and sometimes it even slips out of my hands!...but so far, i'm impressed with the battery life, the haptic feedback is also groovy

Tams80 if that's what you want, you can lock focus and exposure in pretty much any Android by touching to focus and holding for 1 sec. Whenever your object is ready you press the shutter and the phone takes the picture without the delay required for focusing and balancing exposure again.
You can use the volume rocker on literally any decent phone as of right now for this exact function.
Lasse Reinlaufen Actually the volume rocker is hard and you cannot lock focus with it, you end up shaking the phone.
The camera dedicated button on Xperia devices has the 2-stage press, half to lock focus and exposure and second stage to snap. It's nice to half press and get the scene ready for a quick shot when something happens...

Since I was gonna buy it to work with my audio equipment and just Learned that jack is nowhere to be found I can’t buy it since my equipment is all from the late 2000s and still great .... with that being said I’m sure it’s a great phone still !

I used to have an XZ Premium and got the XZ2 when it came out. Gotta admit I prefer the XZP design more, but the XZ2 is much more comfortable to hold in hand without a case at least.
Now I'm just waiting for info on the price of XZ2 premium to know if it's worth to get that one

In my opinion that is not a premium design - it may be premium feeling when you hold it, but having it slide around surfaces like that and the awkward placement of the fingerprint scanner (I tried one at the store, it really is not ergonomic), that does not a premium design make.
Following the trend it's not always a good thing because, as we all know, we have the same phone but branded differently. The square metal casing with some smaller bezzels would be more elegant, much more cooler then any glass. Why does it have a belly? Looks like the battery have issues but I always appreciate that photos are real. I can see the picture taken have the approval of my eyes, looks on the screen exactly like if screen. They should stick to their original trend and fashion.
Thanks for this in-depth but succinct review. I like the Sony software, but wasn't sure which phone to go for. Seems like this is a relatively cheap option, and I can solve the poltergeist problem by putting a case on... we'll see.
They changed it from 4k to 1080p? The one thing I was interested in seeing was UHD HDR video.

You can lower the slowmo to 720p to get a longer capture genius.
i admit that s9 is really great phone but i dont like edge screen i don't think that edge is really functional for daily use,so for me flat screen is more confortable to use than edge screen..that all..lol
I only just got a NOS unused xperia XZ2 for 100 euros as not all the apps are supported on on my Z5 now. What a brilliant phone, the only pain was having to use sony's theme creator so i can use my snowy background and text being displayed black on the main screen. Using XZ2 now, i really feel that people dropping 1k+ on a phone are simply no sense with money😂😂

Now that people started to appreciated Sony design of XZ or older ones, they change it into something generic as possible and remove a headphone jack. I have XZ Premium for a year almost and I am pretty much disappointed in this one. Wish this is just some test, and they return to their sleek designs.
It must be said that the Galaxy S9/+ can NOT record a voice call. Samsung "just" block the option to record a voice communication. You can't hear the other party in the recording. No matter which App you'll use.
Another point with Galaxy S9/+ : if you do not restart the S9/+ for few days, at certain moment, you can't dial to anyone , the phone program just hang . Restart the phone "solve" it.
In short - the Galaxy S9/+ did not passed a real Q&A , Samsung build on you ;-)

I get the idea of getting rid of the old and in with the new and I c y Sony went with the curved back idea but I still prefer the boxy design of the xz premium
I vastly prefer the XZ2 compact, it's a much better looking phone because of the matte finishes and to be fair, when will glass EVER be better than good plastic? I still remember when I had my Lumia 620 and compared it to the s6. My 620 definitely gave me more confidence in durability.

For the fingerprint scanner location all depends how you hold the phone .
Device looking pretty good but I don't like this because of fingerprint sensor is very lower position

Just got an XZ2 yesterday. I moved into it from a dying Samsung Note 4. I'm adjusting. However, and this is killing me, how do you turn off predictive text, and the other involves sending a text to multiple recipients(?) I can add the recipients but the next step of typing the message after entering the recipients.......just isn't there. Grrrrrrrrrr.

I have a chance to pick up one right now for around 400$, but I'm really not sure is it worth it anymore. I'm using Galaxy J7 2016 right now, and it would be a big jump for me I know, just I'm not too sure to pick up something else or this one. What do you think?
