Hello from Canada. The sensation or feeling you’ve experienced in this video where the car pulls you inside of a turn is called brake vectoring by Volkswagen. They have intentionally made the vehicle brake the inside wheel and transfer all of its power to the outside wheel, pulling the car inwards of a turn and eliminating understeer. You can somewhat defeat this feature by switching off traction control. Volkswagen’s goal for the Mk8 GTi was to completely eliminate understeer. They have “almost” achieved that. But there is still some understeer. Hope this helps clears up some confusion. Cheers.
You can go individual mode, set every parameters into sport n slide the DCC damper setting to somewhere in between comfort n sport (hard). It's not just preset of comfort (soft) & sport (hard)
You are looking for DCC for the ride bumpiness, put it to Comfort then everything else Sport. Put Eco for the engine and you'll get the real engine noise but no pops. Pops only when in Sports.
I prefer the Golf's design. But the Megane felt mechanically intuitive to drive, whereas the GTi is more of using clever software to induce that kind of rotational behavior
Hi Bobby, have the the GTI since March 2022 but only recently experienced the sensation that you talked about on highway during high speed and make me quite worried…feel like I lost control of the car. You explained it really well and I guess there is nothing wrong with my car😂…
No, it's VW wanting to eliminate understeer by using clever controls of Independant stiffness of suspension, traction differential etc all kinds of clever tech to completely eliminate understeer.. Even when you are not understeering
Golf GTI can be considered to buy, as now same price range as basic A Class, but Golf GTi come with full spec, faster and reliable and worth to buy than A Class.
As a former 7.5 owner and now an 8 owner, the 8 is superior. Really, most of the money for the 8 went into improving the chassis. It’s a huge improvement. Anyone who says otherwise just aren’t very familiar with either.
Just to add, I see where this reviewer says the suspension is uncomfortably stiff. Compared to the 7.5, it’s more flat (stuff), but way, way, better over bumps and such.
After finishing 50mins both parts of videos and Bobby still cant realize the home button is the square box on d right, just makes my anxiety level off the roof behind d screen, and yes as a 10 months owner I do get that sensation frequently on high speed corner, u would also hear d mechanical grinding sound of lsd working as well sometimes near the front bottom at d same time. Personally think it might have to do with the variable steering, which it might scales up to even affecting high speed, not to forget the steering input is directly linked to VDM system and together with the speed and G-force sensor etc, so its not surprising the VDM took control and assumed the driver is doing smtg idiot, and overwrite driver's input based on natural instinct, just a very distinctive safety or handling traits of this particular model I would say and yes definitely it is not natural or organic like u mentioned, but d good part is you can corner it more aggressively and least worry bout understeer coz it is almost non existence and d limit is quite high for a FWD car, thanks to the torque vectoring which able to send 100% to left/right wheels, easily pulling >1g lateral force based on d onboard sensor reading
hi bobby nice review, agree that the vehicle control is good, but the suspension seems way too stiff, almost being very jarring...definitely a no go for me...imho....but i think the toyota gr yaris will be sweating seeing a vw golf gti mk8..behind him ...taunting him...guess you definitely made his day..
@@BobbyAngmalaysiaUnfortunately for VW. Probably the first VW model for me to describe as such. I tested last month. Comfort mode was just okay. Not bad but I think not as plush as MK7. Quite disappointed with MK8 in that regards
@@poovaneswaransupramaniam19This MK8 is completely different from Passat and Arteon. Lol in terms of ride comfort. These two sedans even at extreme Sports setting, never felt jarring. Just extremely firm and quite bumpy. But MK8 is only comfy at Comfort mode. Even Normal mode feels bumpy.
See this is why I rather watch your reviews compared to someone like YS Khong, who regularly frequents this route. I get more info, detailed explanations and great inputs as to how the car drives, rather than just blasting up Genting without any proper insight and just saying "that was fun" or "feels fast". Not hating on Mr Khong, but his videos would be the last to be watched when it comes to actual views or feedback on a car that is being driven hard or in general.
YS Khong produced good works. His Genting run video is consistent and a good source of information. A keen eye would be able to decipher how each car drive from watching n comparing the car on his Genting run. A Malaysian car enthusiast treasure. I watch both YS Khong and Bobby Ang. They are both great and have different strength n weaknesses. Just like different cars have different strength n weakness. Cheers.

Thank you!
great knowledge, thanks for sharing
I guess that's the xds effect
On point with the pointy steering and rotation of the car bobby, took the mk8 to the sic and the car rotate even better. Just love it
Beautiful scenery, beautiful car, beautiful driving. Stuff like this is what life is about.

That's the car i have been dreaming of. 🔥
it should be the XDS that pulls the car inward. This feature also available in the mk7 GTI but maybe enhanced further throughout the years.
ACC will be the Adaptive Cruise Control and DCC is the one you are looking for to adjust the dampers stiffness.
Lovely video Bobby!
Hope you get your hands on MK8 R. That would be great video comparison to iconic MK8 GTI
Good video.. ok dah beli.
Ayo bobby, under individual u can adjust the suspension softer than confort 3 level or harder than sports 3 further level. Its very flexible bro

Thanks for the tips
hi bobby, between this and megane rs which is better to get? is the megane rs reliable? used megane rs is affordable now..

Where the ambient light?
In my Passat B8 2.0 I get to choose Sport mode w comfort suspension setup in Individual mode..not sure why the new Mk8 doesnt have
There is, its called DCC and its right at the top of the individual settings.

I would love to have this system in my RS6... Lol
Hi bobby, if to choose between latest BMW X1 U11 and this goft GTI, which is more worth it?
golf gti will hold valuee much much much stronger than the X1
Ok tq bobby!
@17:22 Bunta Fujiwara's long-lost cousin?
That tucking in experience - could it be related to the IQ drive function i.e. lane keep assist?

Does the mk7.5 have better ride quality than mk8 ?

Crazy tech. Really fun for a more seasoned touge driver to exploit
