- Hello guys and welcome to my review of a 2012 Kia Forte Koup in 2021!
I hope that I went into enough depth for any individuals looking to buy this car and that my personal opinion made a difference ;).
My car is completely stock but I do plan on building it over time and documenting the transformation! This car has incredible potential and I plan to take it there!

My Koup was optioned out by an 85 year old man from the dealer, it has Performance exaust, Eibach lowering springs, Best option for wheels and R badges and sill logos, its so fun to drive handles so well and has some jam when you step on it. I bought it for 4000 Canadian dollars in mint condition.
Nice review man, i am looking at a cheap car to drive so i don’t put a bunch of miles on my main car, and after your video i am strongly considering this car as my work travel car
I got the EX version and I still love it. It's the most beautiful Forte version. BTW is good to clean the motor sometimes.

I have 2013 Koup SX. I love it. I'm jealous of yours being manual though! My paddle shifters can only compensate for that so much.. The guy before me put an aftermarket resonator and it made it sound a little deeper.

I own the 2011 version everything the same but I got a custom catback exhaust on it I highly recommend installing on as it just adds so much more mean sounds to the car otherwise I love my forte as much as you do!

I got lucky when I bought an all black 2012 forte koupe sx. Turns out the engine was under recall so now I got a 2021 engine complete with warranty! I’m definitely gonna fix it up since it’s a really nice car and cheap to boot.
I just bought a used 2012 kia forte koup. How do I know if my engine is in that recall list 🤔
@@eramac1835 I’d definitely call your local KIA dealership and find out SOON… I had the paperwork around here somewhere, I’ll try and locate it for y’all so I can tell what (recallS) are covered (mine had like 5, the biggest one being a total engine replacement).
Unfortunately from what I was told KIA was gonna stop honoring the engine recall right about the time I had my engine replaced which was just a few months ago maybe August or September? So you’ll probably wanna get on that ASAP! Best of luck though.

I have a 2011 one with all the options from the dealer {It sounds real mean and its bright red}its a 6 speed manual and its a nice car I like it so far I bought it used, the problem is mine is on lowering springs id=s red and loud and people try to race me but its not as fast as it looks, an Audi s6 tried to race me I couldnt even try but this car is still a hoot.
They are still nice I had a veloster which is basically the same car in yellow people wanted to race me all the time it was lowerd and wider tires and half of the time I would loose lol but Forte and velosters are underrated especially Forte

The only problem with my Kia Forte Koups EX SX is the stereo systems are design to protect your ears. The EX has no oil catch in the hose between the engine block and air filter. I have to order a can to modify that . I still look out the window to see my wife drive away in one. My Kia looks Too Cool driving away.

Is it reliable ?any engine problem?
This car came with a thick leather wrap steering wheel, why anyone would put a crappy wheel cover confuses me. I hate steering wheel wraps in general. Older cars with slim hard plastic steering wheels are an exception for obvious reason. BTW, if you must put a wrap on the wheel you might as well center the pattern so the wheel doesn’t look off center.

@@49riffinator I honestly love it, a few things to consider is the harsh ride quality and the tricky clutch if you opt for the 6 speed manual, but it has amazing torque and power and is overall a great car!

@@LifeofRichh thanks man and a res delete gives our cars a really nice tone and it also gives the car some backfire at certain rpms

You guys should take off ur cats and maybe leave the res and switch out the muffler with a stealth muffler as I done so with my Kia Forte sedan but I took off the res don’t really recommend because my exhaust is very loud and just a lil raspy

Im currently looking at a 2012 model with over 200,000kms. 2.0 manual. Should I get it or should I pass? is it reliable with that mileage?
I have had mine for over 2 years now and have had 0 problem, I’ve experienced this car to be extremely reliable and with 200k kms, it should still be in great condition
@@LifeofRichh in your opinion, would one be better off with a 2.0 lancer gt (gonna swap the bumpers to make it look like a evo lol) or just go for a 2.0 koup? currently at crossroad 🥲
@@alphadawg7360great question, we’ll my friend has a lancer gt and my car is in every way faster than his 😂 but the lancer is a 4 door which more easily carries more passengers- I would still stick with the Koup!

If your looking at “performance” go with the koup. the turbo forte5 is not much bigger, feels a lot more sluggish though.

Is maintenance cheap? And does it give mechanical issues often?
Hey there! I have a 2012 Kia Forte Koup SX. I’ve owned it since 2013 and bought it pre owned with about 22k-23k miles. It currently has 163k miles. I can tell you this *knock on wood*. Other then normal maintenance and the few recalls the car has had and just normal upkeep and any mods if you want to add on (for me it was to replace radio and add a sub woofer and aftermarket headlights - halos) then no. Mechanical issues have never been an issue. Maintenance price is about almost even with all the other normal cars. Oil, air filters, etc. those are very easy to access so I would highly recommend doing it yourself to save that extra expense.
You can always go online and find the parts cheaper too. I’ve been seeing a lot of the parts been on sale due to the age. I had replaced the car mats and paid about 20 for a set of the red KOUP trim mats which came stock with my car. That was a few years ago when dealers were clearing out that inventory. You might be able to find it cheaper now though. Overall. Very good car highly recommended. Fast to an extent, handles great, and even is nimble. Very good response time when it comes to handling and fun to play with the paddle shifters.

On the rims you can take off the silver parts btw and it looks so cleannnn !!

@@LifeofRichh I looked at my spare wheel in the back of the car and it has small screws where you can remove them, not sure if it’s on all of them but it is possible for mine

I have a 2012 Forte5 SX. Had nothing but issues. Im the thr 6th owner of the car and regret buying it for $7500
its tobot y from car kia for cartoon in korean and english transformation into robot is the car looks like nice in tobot
I'm in Australia and we only get the 2.0L and 5 speed. Haha Oz Oz Oz
We also didn't get the US built kia and hyundai theta engines that explode while driving which has caused a recall of nearly half a million cars. Ours are Korean made with significantly better engines. Some have failed however so be careful!

Awesome cars but the engine is shit I got lucky and made it to 230k miles before the engine popped. Bought the car new probably going to sit in my backyard forever can't find a motor and not worth selling it
