It's not often we have a chance to flip through a favorite artist's evolution - raw like this. To see deep in the thick of his thoughts during a certain time. Not many artists are comfortable sharing such a vulnerable side, so again, I THANK you! Seeing your kids sketching in your books - beside your ideas shows what a chill & laid back artist/dad you are. Incredible vision
I did not know who Craola was until I saw Noisia - Machine Gun (16Bit remix), a dubstep clip like two days ago on TH-cam and Instant liked, I was like 'what the hell'. Google imaged his works and mind blown. What I found really cool was how he depicts birds since I also like birds but also tigers. But birds, as I later found are a central piece in his drawings but it definitely stood out. Strange that no eagles / doves / crows. These panted are also small sized birds in nature but they seem "elevated" to royalty status in his paintings. Very cool how he does the eyes / beaks and feathers also.
I know nothing about how one would even begin painting this realistically (the process) until I saw this video also. Thought that they were photoshoped when I first saw the images. What I also find interesting is comparing this with how aaron blaise does animation. Or animation in general. I figure that if you would want to animate this you would need to sacrifice detail to make the necessary frames.
Awesome work what can I say, certainly interesting process. It does seem a laborious task though but if you're not in a rush then it's cool.

Stunning as always! I love all the old cartoon characters. I seen a few of them you seem to have at the beginning of this video. I've got a set of the 7 dwarfs from sleeping beauty. The stuffed ones from Disney! They all have the tags still on them. I would love to send you a picture of them, and you do a painting of what you do! With them. That would be so cool! I'm not so good at all this technology stuff, but I do know how to send pictures on a email if you do anything from a email address. Some youtubers are funny about that kinda stuff. And that's understanding! The 2 toy items are stunning also, my youngest son would absolutely love them. He's not a baby, I should say, he's a grown man. 30, lol. But I know he would love all your art work. I can't wait for him to see it when he gets back home. Anyway! Let me know if I can send a picture to you. I also have IG, if that helps. What pens are your favourites for sketching?
Mine are ballpoint pens (all of them stinky inkers!)
Also, have you ever thought about doing coloring books! I'm a adult coloring book person I guess that's what you call us. Lol. I've been drawing my whole life. But in the last 2 years I've been coloring in adult coloring books. I absolutely love it! I know if you had some, I'd definitely would be buying them. And all the youtubers I'm subbcribed to, I know they too! would love to see your work done in coloring books so we could color your pictures ether as close to the way you have colored them. Or just see how they would come up with there own way of coloring the pictures. God, the money I've spent on colored pencils alone is crazy! But I love it! I would love to know if you have ever thought about it? I know they would sell! 😊 😉.

@@daphnedevine I know right! I know for sure everyone I deal with on TH-cam and the coloring world, would absolutely buy them if he would do coloring books! He would be the new Kerby Rosane, if you know who he is! I hate to say it, but Gregs art , Kerby couldn't hold a candle to it. I've got everyone of Kerby Rosanes books. He's got some of the best coloring books out there. Great paper, all we ask for in the coloring world. But I think he's lost his MOJO. So yes! Greg! We need coloring books from you! 😆😆😆😉

Hey Greg- Incredible as usual. And I totally appreciate the sketchbook tour. Quick question- Did you prime the wood panel with gesso at the very beginning or did you just use your half matte medium/half retarder concoction?
I primed it first, sand , and then began adding the layers. I often times will puta layer down of matte medium before i begin painting too because i like the way the paint adheres to it:)

Never! I love my sketchbooks. I lost a half full one in Hermosa beach a few years ago and have been mad about it ever since.

Okay. I'll admit it. When you take sandpaper to color, I cringe like fingernails over a chalkboard. On a lighter note, I half expect to see the Roadrunner come wheeling out of the background desert sunset, crank his way across the cliffs, disappear from sight only to suddenly appear between the rabbit and duck with that silly, self satisfied grin on his face, at which point we see a battered, weary, broken coyote crawl over the top edge of the cliffs in the background and just hang there, exhausted and defeated once again. (Although, I could be reading too much into this. 🙄)
