    One of the hardest things to deal with as a Graphic Designer is Difficult Clients. I don't believe in bad clients, there are just those who are more challenging than most for one reason or another.
    In this video I give you some tips for how to deal with these clients without losing your cool or your reputation.
    Remember it is not Graphic Designer vs Client it is Graphic Designer and Client vs Problems!

    Wow I wish I knew about your videos a while back ago. I had a "friend" who was asking for a logo design. I made the mistake of not setting boundaries and not asking for money upfront. After many revisions and hours of frustration, because he was a friend, I came out with nothing. Lesson learned.

    As always excellent advice Roberto, I've gotten that horrible gut feeling when you just know, things are gonna go wrong from the start & you just got to deal with it & politely walk away!

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely. Trust that gut feeling!

    yeah I needed to hear that. handling some difficult people now. it was easier when I was an in-house designer but now that I'm freelance its a much harder handling them.

    Great video, I always get 60% deposit. Great point on price negotiations, I always used "would you pull up to the gas station and ask to negotiate the gas price"
    My service has a value like any tangible product.

      is there another kind ?!? ;)

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ariane M lol, most of my clients are great, because I trust my gut, set my terms, always have an answer, and know what I want and need from them.

    • @mccosha
      @mccosha 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      hum.
      tell me you don't get the "can you make just a little change" for free that takes you 2 weeks to do?
      in spite of that big billboard behind your desk that says you don't work for free? lol

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ariane M I handcuff them to a set number of revisions and say that additional revisions will have fees that i determine based on time and difficulty. So as a result they think harder about whether that change is worth spending money. When something cost money you learn what you can live with. That's why I don't own a Nikon D810 , I'd rather have the $3k than that camera.

    • @mccosha
      @mccosha 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      agree :D
      as much as the handcuffing sounds kinky, it's what needs to be done...
      and... why would you want to have a Nikon if you can have a Rebel?!? hehehe.

    Even in 2020, this is so helpful. Thanks man! When people say the amount I'm charging is high or that's a huge jump from my previous charges, makes me want to cut the phone then & there.

    Graphic design process
    1 - Analise
    2 - Brainstorm
    3 - Concepts
    4 - Development
    5 - Evaluation
    6 - Finalise

    • @RobertoBlake

      While that is a general outline of the process it doesn't really make things clear which is why I'll cover it in a video

    I want to ask you something....that can a Graphic Designer use other software except Adobe PhotoShop or Illustrator??? I'm using Sothink & Canva for logo design...is it ok? Can i charge money for clients? Bcz designing is designing even if we do this with Adobe or other software...

      +Roberto Blake Sir what are the basic criterias while preparing contract documents for the clients. I am feeling really hard to prepare one which would in one hand respect my work and point out the boundaries of client. If you have a sample format for it, could you please help me with mine?
