    Mini Daffodils. Indoor Bulb planting and After Care.
    Plant mini daffodil bulbs in autumn in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. For potted displays, I mixed in bone meal into the potting soil. Then i placed the pots near a window or a heated source like our fireplace.
    Deadhead after flowering and let the foliage die down naturally, for the best display the following spring.

      I think you can if you could still get bulbs. Like he said, place them in the fridge...let them cool for two months then plant them in the pots

    I live in a hot tropical country. I have one as a gift for CNY. The flowers are withering. I'm trying to regrow it but have no idea. At the moment I just pull off the brown leaves. Thanks for the tips
    1. How often do I have to water it?
    Thank you and Happy Chinese New Year.

    • @ACORNHILL
      @ACORNHILL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there. Thanks for checking in. Here the best and fool proof way to get them to rebloom.:
      1. After blooming, remove withered and dried flowers. Cut them midway down the flower stem.
      2. Then keep watering the bulbs WITH THE LEAVES still intact. Place them (I assume they’re potted) near sunlight. Let the leaves soak up as much sun as possible. The leaves will continue to photosynthesise this way. And will send all the energy from the sun back into the bulb
      3. When you notice them all brown and withered, then you can start looking at transferring them in the landscape.
      4. Once planted in the ground, you can give it a good dose of all purpose fertilizer. Let it naturally die back and hibernate.
      5. This will allow it to experience fall and winter.
      6. Come next spring, it will surely give you growth and blooms
      Hope you get successful with this. This has been my method for many years now and it ALWAYS works. Hope this helps! 👍🏼

      If I decide to leave my daffodil in the pot for next year, after I cut the dead foliage, should I place the whole pot in my garage (cool environment) or what should I do ?

    • @ACORNHILL
      @ACORNHILL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sabutterbread hi Sally. Thanks for chiming in. Yeah Storing it in a very cold garage during the fall is absolutely fine. As I mentioned in the video, before fore we store bulbs for hibernating, make sure it gets the sun and let the foliage die back naturally. Then store in a cool dry place. Good luck ! 👍🏼

    So it's not a good idea to put the pot outside during the Canadian winter to freeze the bulbs? (Covered)

    • @ACORNHILL
      @ACORNHILL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t take the risk. Northern temps are pretty low. In my opinion even if I were to cover the pots. The danger of freezing can still happen. As pots serve as receptacles unlike if the bulbs are buried, the warmth of the soil (a much bigger “receptacle” can protect the bulbs

    Do I feed it bone meal? I heard Potassium and phosphorus is what keeps it blooming, what do you know about that? I heard nitrogen is for the bulb and the greens.

    • @ACORNHILL
      @ACORNHILL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Cheryl. Welcome to Acorn Hill! What I did with these were: I placed a scant amount of bonemeal to help with the root formation (that gave them a healthy jolt). Then I watered them with a solution of 25% espoma indoor all purpose + 75% water
      You’re right about potassium and phosphorus: for roots and blooms. Nitrogen is for foliar growth and health.

    Why do the tips of the leaves turn yellow, tpo much water or too little?

    • @ACORNHILL
      @ACORNHILL  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s the usual case. Especially after the blooms are spent. We will keep the leaves after blooming. They act as solar panel which will absorb the energy from the sun. As days pass they will turn more brown. At that time the bulb under the soil would’ve already converted that solar energy for next years bloom. That’s why daffodils are the best spring flowers for the money in my opinion. 😃
