    Thank you. My University cancelled our Algae course. Since this is my area of study - I am always glad to see info "out there" for folks to view.

    Very nice presentation about the "rainbow of algae". An interesting trip into the history of life on earth and the possibilities of biochemistry. I was also impressed by the giant cells algae can have. Thanks for the presentation!

    Algae seems to hold the most promise to meet many needs to include methane gas production for electricity. The combination of algae production & methane biogas is a green way to create endless renewable clean energy for many cities and industries. This technology has attracted companies that need inexpensive CO2 sequestration solutions & renewable energy solutions many application in our world

    So far, I've seen plenty of videos of this stuff being made, what I would like to see is a video of a car running on it. Is there a video or at least an account of a vehicle running on 100% algae fuel? Thanks.

    Uhm. Good Lecture, very logical, but somehow kinda old. I mean, the references were using currently in phycology stresses out that Land Plants DID NOT came directly from green algae. But indeed, the Green Algae and the Land plants have similar ancestor. Also, it would be good to point out that algae is not really a taxa, just a group. :)

    if too much algae on earth, will the oxygen level rise and we all die of hyperoxygenation?

    • @kennethflorek8532
      @kennethflorek8532 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The photosynthetic process takes one molecule of carbon dioxide (CO2) to get one molecule of oxygen (O2). The fraction of CO2 in the atmosphere is 0.0032, and using that all up would barely alter the fraction of oxygen, which is 0.2.

    How wonderful - but not a word about what effect his "science" is having on our seas.
    nearly every country with a seaboard is harvesting or being pressured into harvesting seaweed - here in Norway they use 3 metre wide sleds dragged behind trawlers - the seaweed beds are completely cleared - there are major changes in our oceans and nearly all have happened since seaweed harvesting became a major business. just check out my site stopptt followed by a dot com. This is shameful.

    The red algae+plant group (Archeoplastida) is totally artificial and has been disproven by different molecular analyses,(Hori and Osawa, 1987; Hori et al, 1990; Luttke, 1991Nozaki et al, 2007; Yoon et al, 2008, Tekle et al, 2008, Parfrey et al, 2010) a combined analysis (Goloboff, 2010), and classical- evidence analyses (Lipscomb, 1985,1989, 1991), and is only weakly supported in other molecular analyses. What he's preaching about red algae and plants is junk science.
