You can accomplish much in your flower beds and Potager during the winter months, if you aren't buried in snow. Restore, revive, weed, transfer plants, and sow many seeds that require a cold period. I get a lot done in Jan-March. It saves me a lot of work in the Spring.
God is the Master Artist. So fun to watch.Thank you.
Yes mam so true that you are close to God in your garden. It is so cute that your fur/ feathered babies stay close by when you are working outside. Your hair is beautiful.
I agree with you 100%, I feel closer to the Lord in my garden than anywhere. I see His miracles and every seed is a remembrance of Hope. Also He teaches me so much about life through flowers, soil and roots. Love the video
Tracy, I so agree, especially when planting teeny seeds, so minute as to be barely there, and knowing they will grow into 8 foot plants covered in colorful blooms, with perfumed scents. Color, Scent and beauty...created for us by a loving God.
Just love getting glimpses of what you look like ♥️ I so enjoy your videos an listening to your voice but placing your face to the voice is just what I had thought you would look like 💜 Thank you for all your ideas an show how to garden at any age . God Blessing shine on you an your homestead 🙏🇺🇸
You are very welcome!
So lovely, and I agree with being closer to God in a garden. So much beauty for sure! Blessings, :)
God, the Original Gardener!
Thanks so much Jeri! I love watching your videos, you really inspired me start gardening in the winter. Which will really help me because mosquitoes LOVE me! I’m even doing my own garden videos because I swear you don’t have enough garden videos out and I really learned a lot via vlog way. ❤
I guess we're closer to God in a garden because that's where it all began, in Eden. Love the idea of the lasagna bulb planting. I will try it myself this mid Fall in Connecticut. Thank you for all of this helpful information.
Indeed, the Garden of Eden.
Time began in a garden. Amen.
I agree with you 100% Every time I see a beautiful bloom or sunset or snow covered trees, I always think "What an awesome God we serve"" and I tell HIm so!! Love your videos so much. Thank you for sharing!!
Donna, it's a powerful and glorious Creation!
Awesome, such detail and variety.
God Bless you and I enjoy your videos. You have a beautiful garden. I also learning so much from you . Enjoying your little friends too. Please continue sharing your videos they are so relaxing too.
Your lovely videos have really inspired me today, so much so that I have spent the afternoon planting bulbs... Hehe 🌞😁. Your voice is very therapeutic and so calming. Thank you xx
Yes closer to God in the garden too!
I was thinking of that very quotation as I watched this. I'm binge watching hopalong hollow. Its unusually cold tonight here in loosy-anner and its sleeping. I once wrote a little poem while working in my family's veg garden. I was about 17. My piano teacher had me read it during our recital. I still remember the sense of wellbeing I had in that garden. Sorry to run on.
Gods wonderful creations
I just adore your little white garden buddy, and my grandkids just laughed out loud at how she ate the worms!
Sharon, She is a hilarious little hen, as soon as she hears me digging in the dirt, she comes running. Yesterday, she had a feast as I was digging out a bed of crab grass.... at least a dozen earth worms!
Garden answers may be motivational in an optimistic way, but you're motivational in a peaceful calming way. Loved this vlog! And you show your journal of plans. Love to see how you memorize things and label things. Many people over look the practical features to gardening. Which for newbies can overwhelm if they fail to remember what they planted to identify and to know how to care for that space.
Ash, that's a very nice complement. It's true that gardening can seem overwhelming to newbies, every little tip helps. I like to show that even an amateur like myself can create a lovely garden without spending a lot of money, just time and effort.
God bless you Jeri, love your gardens. Thank you for sharing creation with us.
Thank you for the video. Lovely, as is everyone of them.
Holy, holy, holy - that’s what I sing as I walk and work in any garden - especially in the early morning. Thank you again for an inspirational and informative video, Jeri!
Perfect song to sing! I'm about to head outside to continue my work and I think I'll be singing that song, first thing!
In Illinois we call that evil nasty grass weed.., crab grass. I find that a perfect name for a vile grass that makes me feel crabby when I am incessantly pulling it out from everywhere. 😂
You have gorgeous hair! I love a braid!🥰
Thank you!!
As a fellow Tennessean gardener, I really appreciate this video. Gives us things to do in winter! :) Just LOVE your videos. Just found you on You Tube. We are in Middle Tennessee and have much in common! Blessings.
Hello Neighbor, we are so fortunate with our milder winters here in Tn. The ground seldom freezes and we can accomplish so many tasks without the sweltering heat of summer.
Thank you for sharing your day with us.
So so inspiring 🌿❤️loved it...I wish I was in our Tennessee cottage to do exactly that...but I might be able to do a little bit of it in Illinois...thank you for your videos you ❣️🙏
The beauty of our Tennessee weather is the ability to plant bulbs in Jan- March! I'm doing it today!
I just love your videos. I get so many ideas and knowledge from them. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Happy Valley for watching! I hope to have a new video up in a few days.. I'm always open to new ideas.
What a beautiful place you have Jeri and what a beautiful life you live with all your little friends. Just love your videos. I could watch them all day. Thanks for all the inspiration! Makes me so anxious to get out into my own garden and do something with all the bare spaces I have.
Theresa, how nice! You have a nice bare canvas to work with, that's always an exciting prospect for a gardener. I'm filling mine in bit by bit.
I can hardly wait until spring to see your garden in bloom. It's gonna be beautiful !
Randy, I can see it in my mind's eye...if all goes well, there will be an overload of filming going on around here!
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow You see it in your mind's eye as an artist. This is how you are able to create such beautiful things. Your garden, your books, paintings, and your felt farm family are all beautiful creations in your mind's eye. I'm just thankful that you share your art with us!
@@rwatts2155 So nice of you to say this, and it's true that it all starts in one's imagination. I have a feeling you've got quite a lovely garden yourself!
Outstanding video! Brings spring closer despite the snow outside today in Vermont
Hello YOU! So glad you watched. It's pretty cold here today, I'm gardening on paper instead of the soil.
Delightful video. There is always something to do in the garden. Being in the garden is heaven. Planting, digging, weeding, smelling the soil. Just heavenly. Thanks for this lovely visit with you. Linda from Texas.
Yes, gardening never ceases... even if it's done in the house with a pad and pencil. I know that your state is well known for the Texas Bluebonnet, I tried to grow them last year from seed, no luck. They must love your hot, dry climate!
What kind of boots are those...I really need some like that 😏. Never thought as bout doing this in the winter...definately going to this year. Thank you!
Jerry you are great. From Sheila😊😊
Well, I don't know about that... But you are very nice to say it!
Unless we have a very early spring I'll be living vicariously thru you for several more months. Here in northern New England we're all frozen in and have been since about mid November. The only way to get my garden "fix" thru the long cold winter is by tending my houseplants and watching my favorite gardeners on TH-cam...You, Monty Don of Gardeners World and Laura of Garden Answers.. Your gardens are looking great already :-)
I had you in mind when I mentioned "buried in snow" above in the intro. Thanks for including me with such great gardeners, those two are the pros... I'm just an dedicated, enthusiastic amateur. Really love Monty Dons series on the Secret history of the British Garden... geez, gardens to dream about.
I'm a superfan of Monty Don and Alan Titchmarsh, and yes Jeri, they are professionals...but you are so relatable and have a ton to offer as well. The garden journal you keep with diagrams, drawings, and plant lists in this video shows that you are far from a novice. I aspire to create a cottage garden with as much charm as yours. Tasha Tudor is a hero of mine, and you seem to have the same spirit.
Michelle, another TH-cam garden series that I find enjoyable, like Jeri's, is The Elliot Homestead. It's not as charming...but she has a potager too🥀
I Love your videos, they always inspire to get out and plant something amazing. Or even just to prepare the beds for spring. :) Your peacocks are such show offs! Lol It's like they just knew you were recording them to show the masses. ;) Thank you!!
In just a few months, all four of them will be fanning their tails at once; I'll have to film it and put it to music!
I absolutely loved this video! 💖
Thank you!
Wow! I find it beautiful. As to the couch grass, I pull up the tufts and then sheet mulch between perennials and then pile on the mulch of whatever I can find. I have only had to do that once in my front garden and have never had a problem again. If any pop up occasionally, I just pull it up before they flower and it won't come back again. I never dig anymore either...except to plant things. Oh, I love the space you have there. I adore the ivy on the stones too.
'll try your method on the next dastardly villain that sneaks into my garden... I'm sure it will be sooner than later. I love that ivy, all of which came from a few vines my friend had clipped off of hers. It's everywhere now, needs to be kept in check!
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow English Ivy is a bit of a thug but so magical and beneficial to wildlife! Yes, it does tend to run a muck but hedges are perfect for them....and ornaments...and arches...I could go on. just love the romance and evergreen nature of it so you can have structural greenery all year round.
You are such an inspiration, Jeri ! Our winters are much like yours with many days to play outside. Originally, I’m from CNY/near Syracuse, so winters here are so nice, much warmer, love it.
Santa was thinking of giving me a helping hand this year and delivered a kneeling pad w/handles and a garden cart w/a seat from Gardeners Supply.. (I have bad bones). I can’t wait to try them out.
Thank you for inspiring all who follow your passions. It’s so much fun to see how you implement new ideas ! 💖☺️👍
Take care and God Bless, Chris-Raleigh NC
A kneeling pad is a great idea, I was hauling around a folded piece of cardboard and a plastic bag to kneel on! I really do appreciate the mild winters here in East Tennessee, I grew up in Colorado...brrrrr. N.C is a great place to garden!
Amen! 🦚🌱🌼☀️🌿🐓🌲🌷 Lovely video as always...thanks for sharing💕🙂
Absolutely, Amen! Thanks for coming along.
What a great video mate, I really enjoyed watching.

Glad you could visit us here in EAST Tennessee, USA.
Oh love seeing the PeaBoys! How lucky you are that you can garden year round! We have had snow cover since October this year! Hope we have a decent Spring as that is my busy time. This time of year I look over seed catalogs and make lists and plan. I do love all those little volunteer plants - my Lady's Mantle sends out loads of babies each year. Thanks for sharing your planting/renovating - can't wait to see it in Spring! Many Blessings
Cynthia, we are lucky to have distinct 4 seasons, and still have the chance for a lot of gardening in winter. Everything I'm doing now, you'll be doing in early Spring. Making your plans in the winter is always a pleasant endeavor, AND soon, you'll be popping seeds in trays and whatnot. Cannot get Ladys Mantle to grow here, I've tried for years!
Loved this video Jeri. You are such an inspiration to me. Love & hugs from Plum Cottage
Happy Gardening to you at Plum Cottage!
Wow! I can never sow seeds directly. Too many slugs in our climate so the plants all have to be started under cover before and hardened off when older and less tasty to the slugs before they can be planted out. It's a lot more work and takes up too much space but I just love gardening so it's worth the effort.
My problem is birds, rather than slugs. I sowed poppy seeds a few wks back and covered with light weight netting. If I don't sow them in the winter, they won't germinate hear in East tn. I've got tons of little seedlings now, so exciting!
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow Love poppies. Especially the big blousey ones with 'millions' of petals. We also have some of the single flowering ones so the bees can get to them. I look forward to seeing your garden in bloom this year. x
What a beautiful video Jeri* now I want to go and do some gardening in my winter garden*
Okay gal, get out there and do some diggin!
Hi Jeri,
Thanks so much for sharing your winter garden chores! I needed the inspiration and now I will get out and plant some seeds like I thought I should and wanted to. It is nice to live in a warmer climate during the winter. It makes up for not being able to grown more cool loving plants like Iris or Peony here is zone 10 of Florida.
Yes, you've got some serious advantages over the rest of us. But it's sad you can't grow the Iris and Peony! I can't grow Delphinium here in my area, we've too much humidity; so I settle for Larkspur. Now, it's time for you to plant those seeds!
Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Did you ever mention how many acres you live on? The reason I ask is because we are on over 6 acres and my husband thinks it's still not enough to have peacocks. He thinks neighbors will complain about the noise.
We have a large acreage, but only about 7 acres are fenced in. Peacocks make a lot of noise in the spring and summer, our neighbors don't complain because this is farm territory and they have animals too. The peacock voice carries far and wide, so you have to be sure you have friendly neighbors that love Peacocks.
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow thank you! I better just hold off on getting peacocks.
# YES, The SPECTACULAR CREATION Of GOD !!! : )
@JerryLanders thank you so much for your videos...I put them on as I do my housework stopping to listen and take notes! 😀
I’m in zone 7a and want to plant seeds this fall for spring blooms.
I have most of the spring bulbs I want but also want to put in seeds...I have wrote down what you mentioned in this video are there any others you recommend? What about Bells of Ireland? I ALWAYS have trouble with that one! Any advice?
Thanks again...
Hi Tonia, I will put up a list on my next video for seeds to plant in the fall. I've never been successful getting Bells of Ireland to germinate for me. But I'm going to try it again because it is good for bouquets and dried flowers. Thanks for watching!
In Indonesia, i hve garden too.Portulaca garden..
How inspiring, thanks! My nemesis are bind weed, butter cup and bamboo, the three evil B's no matter how I try they keep coming back. I don't use any chemicals either. Any suggestions for here in the rainy Pacific Northwest?xx
It took me years to eradicate the buttercup, the bamboo takes drastic measures. My friend had a huge bamboo patch and had to hire a bobcat to dig it out completely! It seems with some weeds, we"re destined to get on our knees and yank them out, our entire gardening life. As for as the rain, we're in our rainy season now, it plays havoc with the Lavender plants, I've already lost 4 of them. I wouldn't change much of my advice for gardening in your area, except to plant your bulbs pretty deep, so they don't have a chance to rot underground.
You have been busy, Jeri! I've been working in my garden this week, too. What zone are you in? We're in zone 6 here.
Marqueta, we're in zone 7 East Tn. Aren't you in Missouri?
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow I am!
U say u r going to take the Liriope out and move it. Please tell me how u will do that. I can't seem to get rid of that stuff and would love to move it out of my meds(it was here when I moved here). It has taken over, as u say. Please, can u offer any suggestions for getting rid of it?
The only thing you can do is dig it out by the roots, it is very stubborn.
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow That's an understatement. I was hoping u had a miracle solution. LOL.
