    Just learning to fish at 50. I yanked my first small mouth last weekend. Great vids. All the lure info I need.

      Hooked up into a smallmouth for the first time yesterday! Man they fight hard.

      @@DefOfDopeProductions I like the fight more than largemouths to be honest. They remind me of trout too! Just caught my PB largemouth on a top water rubber frog today! 19” 3.52lbs.

    I found more success with leaving the worm hooks embedded into the worm so I don't end up getting as snagged as often. I will bend the hook point slightly upwards. Pegged weight if dragging through heavy woody cover; unpegged if dragging through grass or open waters; weightless if dragging across fractured, angular rocks that snag weights and jigs.

    Sup Tyler. Great video. As said before had 2 packs of big worms, didn't realize were 10" . used them yesterday because of previous video, and nothing else worked. I cought a lot of bass, most were not much bigger than worm lol. But got a 4.7lb bass made my year. I pegged weight because weight kept getting in weeds, almost gave up. You helped me so much. I fish a lot of shallow grassy lakes and I have found that fishing a big worm weightless is very effective, especially for mucky bottomed and ponds and lakes.

    • @thesharkking1120
      @thesharkking1120 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have similar ponds and lakes where I live. How do you cope with not getting the worm all mucked and slimed up ?

    • @rickjorstad6666
      @rickjorstad6666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fishing the worm weightless allows it to very slowly sink. By occasionally lifting up your rod tip or giving it a small hop easily keeps the worm off the mucky bottom. If you use a weight then that will allow the worm to drag along the bottom and collect a lot of junk.

      @@rickjorstad6666 i fish the same way here in florida but i use a 1/16 ounce bullet weight. Basically weightless but it allows for longer casting and less bird nest

      You can put a split shot on the line, little ones that you pinch on, though idk what you’re fishing on, it would be a pain on a baitcaster

    My favorite top water lure is the Zara Spook, chrome/ black back. I've landed nice bass on a Culprit 7.5 inch ribbon tail, black & Venom's 7 inch Junebug texas rigged...no pegging.

    Newer boater/offshore fisherman here so may be a dumb question, when fishing a ledge to you drag the worm down the ledge or up the ledge? Thank you for your time, it’s greatly appreciated

      Just keep in mind that big baits=big fish but bites are FAR AND FEW. Also reel in very slow and pause for long times. Should look like a nightcrawler moving along in cold water.

    Great video my friend I really enjoy watching you what is very informative flip your comments in the past the Big Worm we used to fish them a lot been tournaments at Lake Monticello in South Carolina and we would the big worms at night and people would always rag on me about me setting the hook so hard but usually by the end of the night they were setting the hook hard as well one thing that I do differently than what you just spoke of is I always like to use a light wire hook I honestly can't tell you any fish that I've ever lost or whatever I've never had a hook break on me put it that way I have had some Bend out but not on a fish and I think it gives the worm a better action as it is falling having a lighter wire hook. But anyway I wish you would just send these videos to me it's really hard knowing that they're thousands of other fishermen out there watching and getting the same information if you ever make it to Texas my friend let me know I'll be happy to put you on a few

      It is a novel technique and makes for a video. I have really tried big worms and my rate is terrible with it. I do catch bass, but they aren't even bigger than I get with 4" worms. Regional videos like you suggested would be a fantastic way to make novel videos.

    • @cha0ss0ldier-4
      @cha0ss0ldier-4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Offset gives a better hookup ratio since the point isn’t directly in line with the eye like an EWG.
      EWG is good for thicker baits, but use an offset whenever you can.
