Just saw the credits for this and it was written by Carole King with Gerry Goffin! She was a teenager in the Brill Building when she wrote all of these hits. So talented. A genuine powerhouse.
The book 'Girls like Us' the journey of a generation - Carole King Carly Simon Joni Mitchell written by Sheila Weller is one of my favorite books, I highly recommend it if you are a music fan from the 60s 70s 80s, & want to read the most incredible lives of these 3 iconic women, spanning over all these decades of unimaginable talent/music/lives. I NEVER could have imagined the rich, varied, influential lives these three women had. All of them surprised me & captivated me. You don't have to be a fan of any of their music to enjoy the read but if want to learn about fascinating women living in a fascinating time this is the book for you
Song is Awesome. So True in my own life I grew up in the 60s and Animals was my favorite band. How strange time is now I'm 70 yrs old.but animals bring me back.
How about that instrumental interlude after the 2nd verse with the piano riff followed by the organ riff followed by the distorted guitar & some other instrument? I really love that part!
"Don't Bring Me Down" When you complain, and criticize I feel I'm nothing in your eyes It makes me feel like giving up Because my best just ain't good enough Girl I want to provide for you And do all the things you want me to Oh, oh no, don't bring me down I'm begin' you darlin' Oh, oh no, don't bring me down Sacrifices how we make I'm ready to give, as well as take One thing I need is your respect One thing I can't take is your neglect Woman anything I need your love And troubles are easy to rise above Oh, oh no Don't bring me down Oh no, no, no Oh, oh no Don't bring me down You complain, and criticize I feel I'm nothing in your eyes It makes me feel like giving up Because my best just ain't good enough Girl I want to provide for you And do all the things you want me to Oh, oh no, don't bring me down No, no, no, no, no I'm Beggin' Oh, oh no, don't bring me down
The hardest-edged pop-rock song Gerry Goffin & Carole King ever wrote, signaling the disintegration of their marriage. How appropriate for The Animals, who themselves were disintegrating at the time, to have the hit with it. The new Eric Burdon & The Animals would go on to have a half-dozen US Top 30 hits but none had the impact of the ones in the "House of the Rising Sun"-through-"Don't Bring Me Down" era.
When I was 16 ,this song used to take my breath away and I am now 67, and it still does✌️❤️
Same; 68 now
me too! Eric Burden had the sexiest voice !
Nostalgia runs deep ^)
Same age here and still digging the sounds.
I'm 66 and was the only one to listen to this song in Oklahoma, but now listen Tom Petty's don't bring me down at farm aid?
I just love the keyboard sound that was being used in the 60’s! It’s an iconic sound that I love to listen too!
so many bands could get so much music out of those little Vox keyboards
I love the way they mix the different sounds together like the keyboard and that electric guitar 🎸!
I grew up in the 60's. The Animals were the definitive sound of the 60's.
One of Eric's best ever!!.. The pulsating, gyrating sound has not been matched and never will !!
So true. The 60s music will never ever be equalled or duplicated .
This was a very popular song in the '60s when I was growing up during the Vietnam war and it's still a good song
School was just about out for the summer when this got heavy airplay in 1966. Great way to start vacation.
This song is one of the all time greatest songs
!
I still play this. And I am 65.
Bout the best song ever, what a voice
I'm also 67 yrs old. Bubble hair do, mini skirts and
go go boots. And good morning Vietnam! Lord
have mercy.
The greatest. This song could be a top song at a rave.

"Don't Bring Me Down"
When you complain, and criticize
I feel I'm nothing in your eyes
It makes me feel like giving up
Because my best just ain't good enough
Girl I want to provide for you
And do all the things you want me to
Oh, oh no, don't bring me down
I'm begin' you darlin'
Oh, oh no, don't bring me down
Sacrifices how we make
I'm ready to give, as well as take
One thing I need is your respect
One thing I can't take is your neglect
Woman anything I need your love
And troubles are easy to rise above
Oh, oh no
Don't bring me down
Oh no, no, no
Oh, oh no
Don't bring me down
You complain, and criticize
I feel I'm nothing in your eyes
It makes me feel like giving up
Because my best just ain't good enough

And do all the things you want me to
Oh, oh no, don't bring me down
