Thanks a bunch! My phone froze up and wouldn't respond to the power button or charger or anything. I started prying off the back cover to get to the battery plug, boggled in confusion at the insanely engineered mess I saw, and ended up here to make sure I didn't destroy my device! 😅 This helped a lot.

What a terrible design. It requires this much work to remove a battery. I'm thinking Apple was to blame for this trend

Apple phones are much easier, but I'm a Samsung fan. Still, I used a PRY-BAR that I use to remove stuck flooring just to get the battery loose. Now I know why I waited 16 months since I bought the replacement battery.

Apple Has Pull Tabs For Their Batteries, Samsung Is One Of The Few Companies That Permanently Glue Their Batteries

Agreed. 1mm thinner phones are not a good trade-off for this nonsense and not being able to do hard resets via battery pulls. *le sigh*

Fortunately fixed batteries are going to be forbidden by 2025, but only to be properly recycled, not to make your life easier. Anyway, I'm glad. This dirty trick should have been forbidden to start with!

What an engineering mess! A battery that needs to be glued to stay in its place? I was just about to purchase a Samsung A50. Not anymore. It is like buying a mobile phone from the dollar store, except it costs more than a dollar.

I just had my battery changed in my A50 phone at a repair store, but it went dead last week, I cannot get it to charge, I even bought a new charging cable. The repair store is permanently closed now. Is there anything I can do to get this battery to charge?

    • @DIYGeardo

You should go the repair store and let them check.Seems like a bad battery.

If your battery is draining faster, not holding the charge/too much heating is a sort of indication for the battery removal

I'm sure it must be impossible to conclude such a complicated job without marring the phone everywhere. As careful as you may be, it will be impossible to make a perfect work and leave the phone intact. It may work, but will end up bent here, scratched there, unglued in some places, stained, creased, etc.
I stored a brand new A50 for about two years because I bought it preemptively. Now that I need it, it doesn't charge. My fault too, but I've bought phones from 2016 and 2018 in 2023 and the battery always charged promptly. I'm pissed beyond description. 🤬

You keep it for charging whole day with original charger it will charge it has become deep discharge if it doesnt then need to open the back cover take out battery connector and connect again the easist method is putting your phone in sun cover its camera for some hours it should work if it doesnt then need some boosting of battery...😅😅😅

Is it not required to replace charge controller when replacing a battery? I remember years ago my HTC phone did not last longer with the new battery until I replaced the charge board with te controller... Is it model dependent?

Thanks for the video. Just noticed the battery in an old A50 I have lying around was puffed up to the point it pushed the back cover off all on its own. Figured it'd probably be smart to take it out before it explodes on me. No-nonsense videos that get right to the point like this one does are a godsend at times like this.

Is the battery you replaced is an original? This might be an issue with the board

You need to change power ic and charging ic both or first try to short one capacitor in battery charging board, also check for some part near charging ic, power ic this is done by authorized mobile repair technician else be ready to get your mobile damaged, 90 mobile technicians are high school fail quacks in India, just by sitting in some mobile repair shops for 2-3 they learn some crooked tricks of repair and then open shop gains some illegal certificate of some useless non reputed unauthorized illegal institutes by bribing some money and then the mess of damaging phones gets started.😅😅😅😅😂😂😂
